JOURNAL: Kariudo (Derek )

  • 2007-12-24 02:40:09 After fighting the raging winds and blowing snow I finally made it to Wal-Mart to finish up my shopping (it was harder to find something for my 2 year-old nephew than it was for most of the other people on my list)

got everything wrapped, and I'm getting general life stuff done
    called temp agency
    deposited rebate checks
    did Christmas shopping
    updated resume

blowing snow sucks...you shovel, and then by the time you're done you have to start over again :/

I meant to bring a few new amvs back home with me, but it looks like I've left all but 2 on my desktop...it's gonna suck trying to get them all on dialup, but I at least have to get Woolongs for nothing

Still only have 1 official grade so far. B- in discrete information structures.
not great, but pretty good considering

Nobody seems to have any problems with the anime milwaukee website...which is good, because I don't really want to have to update the site while I'm back home.
Another thing nobody has done is sign up for the amv contest.
It'll probably happen all in the week of the deadline, but having at least 1 entry would be nice (so I know that at least someone is entering, and that the form works)

I should do some editing, I will force myself to edit if I have to.
It seems that its easier for me to edit at night (or pretty much whenever it's dark outside)
I will get it done darnit.
  • 2007-12-17 19:59:18 2 finals tomorrow
    Discrete information structures amd Dynamics
both are cumulative...but focus on material we didn't cover in other exams

dynamics is gonna suck, angular acceleration and rotation about a fixed axis really throw a wrench into things.

I can count again, so I think I should be alright in discrete info
... I could count before, but not fast enough. Trying to count the number of full-house poker hands the old fashioned way takes way too long.
  • 2007-12-15 20:06:55 2 finals down, 3 to go
I actually got one graded already.

PLC: 17.5/20 just over 80% in the class overall. This was one of the ones I was worried about

I really should be studying for discrete information structures, but it's hard since I don't have class to make me feel that I can't relax.

2.2GHz was stable, so of course I wanted to push it again.
managed to get up to 2.6 GHz, but that wasn't stable...so I dropped it to 2.5
removed my 2 512MB sticks, and was able to get my memory to 420 MHz at 3-3-3-8 1T
at 2.5 it settled at about 416MHz at 2.5-3-3-6 1T

folding times decreased again, and I managed to hit 1100ppd

more snow for Milwaukee, hope it won't make going back home a more of a pain than usual
  • 2007-12-11 20:20:00 and the anime milwaukee website is up!
    www.animemilwaukee.com
gotta make some small changes to the vendor's page (text formatting)
I know about the registration buttons too, gotta fix those so it takes you to the paypal page

did my first round of studying, went over all my notes for assembly language
gotta pound in the addressing modes, $sp register, division and multiplication, fps standard...and a few more things

Finally got a list out to my folks for gift ideas. It was at 3 ideas, and grew to about 10 as I was writing it

Linux keeps freezing up on me, so I decided to back off on my overclock
    we'll see how 2.2GHz and ddr420 @3-3-3-8 goes

and before I forget, time for props on the website development:
thanks to BurningLeaves for helping me with the background
thanks to BethanyIAm for pointers in photoshop
thanks to WC and Guy07 for reading over different parts of the site
  • 2007-12-11 13:30:17 Classes = canceled
this is the 2nd time in 2 school years...I think I'd have to go back to elementary school to find another stretch like that.
I guess that the university is a bit more reasonable than my old high school district when an ice storm comes.
1/4" of ice did it this time, and now we're getting some monster snowflakes

I guess that means that I have to study... :/

    Exam tomorrow in Assembly language
    Exam Friday in PLC

maybe I should get the hosting for the website while I have time today
...hate it when stuff just piles up at the end of semester
