@beth
I don't suppose turning off your phone is an option, is it?
phone off = no calls at 3am
busy day so far, and I haven't even gone to class yet.
-I have updates to do for the anime milwaukee site (which will have to wait til tomorrow)
-I got another 2 videos (though one seems to be fake...just a dvd rip of an episode. The other needs help with the contest format)
-downloading videos I got on the site ftp (gonna take all day)
-gotta buy a kit and breadboard for circuits2 lab which I have today
tomorrow I head off to the ieee-cs meeting.
tonight I'm gonna try to record part of circuits2 lecture, so with a little luck I'll be able to get something and put all who listen to it to sleep.
last week: rain then snow
this week: rain again, probably more snow
it's February, make up your mind weather.
and now, off to buy stuff before I head off to class
college-man AWAY!!!
*walks to class*

yayz, first 4 videos now all have 100+ downloads
I must protect has 5 more to go before being the third vid to hit 200 dl
my weekend (Thursday night - Sunday night) was a scattered mess of homework. I spread myself all over my bed, and onto the floor, and across my desk as well.
Finished emf homework
finished networks homework
got as far as I could in engr. econ
got pretty far with algorithms homework, we have 2 weeks to do it and I want to consult with other students
circuits2 homework is yucky...writing down more examples would have helped, but it's just so hard to do and not fall asleep :/
I'll probably end up doing more reading for networks (maybe finish up the homework for it due on thurs)
I need to go back to XP to finish the lab for circuits 2 due tomorrow (gotta write a report for it too, so naturally they don't tell us how to write one) but I'm waiting for my F@H work unit to finish up (3 hours, 40 minutes or so)
temps were getting fairly high on my desktop (~53C load, 2.4GHz @1.4vcore)...so I decided to use one of my old 80mm fans to push air right into the cpu area. Now my typical load is ~49C, 2.4GHz @1.4125vcore.
with the window open (it's actually kinda nice otuside, 29F) my load is at ~46C
my work on my gateway segment is now in AE. I always seem to get frustrated when I try to work in AE...
just gotta force myself to get some work done.

Finally got the mail-in entry that I was expecting for the anime milwaukee amv contest.
I was expecting one video, but I got 3 :up:
that brings the grand total to 5 (one of the coordinators tells me that it's more than no brand con had)
2 drama, 3 comedy. Nothing for trailer or action yet (I thought action would've been higher than comedy)
I have 2 drama, 1 action and 1 trailer submissions that haven't given me videos (or gave me youtube links :/ )
I now have enough feedback to get more work done on my gateway segment
too bad I have lots of homework to do. I'll try to get started on homework after anime club (and the way things are going so far, I might finish most of it...maybe)
last thought for now: I'm probably going to be really good at minesweeper by the end of the semester. I find myself regularly playing it during 2 of my 5 classes (circuits2 and engineering economic analysis) and occasionally in another (computer networks).
That's either a very good sign, or a very bad sign. I'll find out in about a month (midterms)
short entry this time I guess...

@scott {
No worries man, hope your internet comes back soon }
@beth {
and that's exactly why I carry a few syringes of sedative with me at all times. *stabs j00*
heh, I just stung a bee :p
it's for your own good }
@knowname {
ah, the joys of buying computer parts off of ebay. I think I got all my stuff in a reasonable amount of time when I built my computer...think it's coming up on 2 years pretty soon. (I bought all the parts by now, but wasn't able to put it together until spring break)
even if it did take a long time for shipping I didn't really notice because of the wait til the actual build.
If you are still on windows or if you got linux installed, you might want to see if SMplayer works for you. Had to compile it myself on linux (needs QT4), but there's a .exe for windows. }
The advent of h.264 has been a wonderful thing for amvs imo. Yes, the resolution doesn't need to be 848x480, 1024x576 or 1280x720, but they look soooo nice. No longer is the community stuck at a measly resolution of 320x240. I don't have any high-def source...so until then I'll probably continue to release vids in 720x480, which is good enough.
Circuits 2 is just gonna drag on this semester. I'm seriously thinking of trying to find a way to record his "lecture" (which is pretty much just going over example problems...my defeinition of a discussion section) and upload it for people to hear how painfully boring he is.
I'm gonna have to start listening to music so I don't fall asleep in class.
I go back to career services today to talk more about internships. I sent my resume (which I've actually updated) for a quick review and it came back with only a minor format change (both of my addresses are long).
Still no word from the company that one of my contacts back home put in a word for me for.
Nobody did my challenge...oh well. maybe one or two might come in eventually...maybe.
Just as I release a beta for gateway, everyone disappears. It might be a good thing, since I have homework that I should be doing >_>
last thought for now: looks like I won't be going to a lot of the club activities this semester. Tau beta pi is holding something during my Monday night lab, and the IEEE is holding their meeting at the same time. I should have attended both, the first one so that I know that I would be an "active" member and be eligible for scholarships, the second one because I need to buy a breadboard and a kit for my Monday lab. (A $45 investment that was conspicuously missing from the course description and the syllabus >_> )

time for another rant-ish type thing
I used to spend a fair bit of time at flashplayer.com. Flash games are a good way to occupy a few hours. I think it was sometime in 2006, flashplayer.com changed to ugoplayer.com. that alone wasn't a problem, but later that year (or maybe sometime in 07) they changed the format of the site.
The site changes made the site cluttered and harder to use. The rating system went from a scale of 1-10 to bad, ok and good.
The quick picks and most viewed lists were removed
new games became harder to find
author profiles became more obscure (which was probably the best way to keep up on an author that you like)
if you couldn't tell, I hate the new site layout...but still try to find things there every now and then. /rant
I found the third game in an interesting series, and played through it. beat it in 17:34 without using the walkthrough (and pausing to talk to my dad for a minute or so)
http://www.ugoplayer.com/games/escape3thephonebooth.html
the first 2 games in the series are also challenging, they can be found from this link http://www.ugoplayer.com/developers/Afro_Ninja.php
challenge to you: beat all 3 without the walkthrough (or at the very least, beat the third one without the walkthrough). PM me your times, see if you can beat me. Top 3 times will be posted in my next journal
my time for #2 (the closet) 6:15
Here's another challenging one: http://www.ugoplayer.com/games/kazahananoexit.html
Anime Milwaukee draws nearer, about 1 month to the con.
The planning for the con began in September, and details are still coming in. Things are almost completely set, but a few details remain elusive.
I'm told that the planning for this year started much sooner than last year. The delays probably stem from inexperience (since last year was small and relatively unorganized) and the fact that everyone has class on top of planning.
If I stick with it and run the amv contest and maintain the con site for next year I'm expecting that things will go smoother. It'l give me time to try to make the website design better as well.
one odd thing about the site is that people don't complain to me. They'll complain to marketing, the vendor coordinator and convention coordinators...but not the webmaster.
Not that I'm complaining...but the other guys aren't doing stuff with the website (beyond handing me information).
There's been more than a few comments (to the con coordinators) about the site lacking information, but no specifics.
Good news on the amv front. I won't have to redo my gateway segment. Needs to be polished, but I finally have support from enough people to be comfortable in keeping it.
Last thought for now: Clannad is good, more comedy than Air and Kanon(2006), same beautiful character design and animation. Baccano is weird, interesting though...might have to follow this one after Clannad
