  • 2008-02-14 22:38:57 today's entry will be a collection of short stories, all are unabridged for your reading pleasure.

    just as I think I get caught up in homework, even a little bit ahead...I find out that I'm actually behind.
    looks like tomorrow is gonna be homework.

    I tried to shut it up, lock it away and bury it alive...but the overclocker in me came out again.
    Got the arctic cooling freezer64 pro and a silverstone fan.
    the F64 pro is one of the best air coolers in the market, should drop my load temps a bit.

    system update wiped out my mplayer, nothing that a little effort couldn't fix though.
    good thing I know how to compile from source.

    Got my housing contract this week. Have to send it out to my dad for him to sign.
    Last year, instead of mailing it back home I decided to scan it in. It worked out well, so I did it again this year. The usual computer that has a scanner in the lab didn't have a scanner, so I had to migrate over to the Imac that had a scanner.
    Tried to login, mac froze (POS if you ask me :/ )
    Restarted, took about 3 minutes to start up. :/
    other than that things went smoothly, though I couldn't see the filesize before I attached the scans
    I'll take a pc any day.

    starting to help out a little more on oc3d. I guess I actually know some stuff sometimes

    Clannad = awesome
    Gundam 00 = awesome

    and last but not least
    shameless plug tiem
    vote me for stuff, the tacos command you 0_o
    the power of taco compels you (blue trailer -> trailer, most helpful)
  • 2008-02-10 23:25:48 This was a pretty easy going weekend. Not too much homework, got to hang out with reigna yesterday (Gundam Seed + pizza = win.) It's nice to have someone else around who likes anime (cuz as far as I know I'm the only person on 9/10 that's into anime)

    I did some of my hw on Friday...but left most of it for today.
    I finished emf hw, almost finished algorithms hw, and I'm just about to wrap up my lab report (which is due tomorrow.)

    Still gotta wait a bit for any stray mail-in amv contest entries, but I think that I have everything.
    got a total of 23 videos, a very nice response imo.
    I kinda feel bad because I got 2 or 3 really good videos in categories that weren't listed...so they had to submit them to exhibition :(
    I'll have to see if I can do a "best exhibition" award...ya I know it's a contradiction, but I don't care.
    Thanks to everyone who entered, and to those who spread the word.

    I found out today that one of my friends back home wrote a book.
    Reading the description definitely reminds me of his personality...in fact, the way the description is written makes me think that he wrote that too.
    Knowing that it's coming from Shawn, it's sure to be interesting.
    If you happen to see it, give it a shot
    http://www.lulu.com/content/1476610

    didn't get much editing done this weekend, maybe I'll spend some more time in AE on Tuesday or Thursday.
    exams are creeping up on me already...it just feels waaaaaay too soon for that.

    Last thought for now: why does it always seem that there's 2 or 3 busses that pass by you going the opposite way before one comes that's going your way?
    1-in should equal 1-out.
    At least I don't have to pay for the bus (probably part of tuition...but I don't have to pay $1.75 each time)
  • 2008-02-06 20:02:55 @sky {
    subsonic is cleared to be shown.
    I also curse your latest entry for making me look at it twice.}

    @Beth {
    no sun for us today, it was all snow...so much snow that you couldn't see half a block down the road...and now they say 4 to 7 foot drifts.
    You can keep your sunshine though, cuz I owe the snow a favor}

    hay guys, guess wat
    SNOW DAY!!!one!!eleventy!

    storm came in and dumped some snow on us. It wasn't much at first, I was wondering if classes would be canceled...but it was really windy, so that must've made it bad enough to cancel class.
    So now, we have about another foot or so of fresh snow, and it's still coming.
    At this pace, we may get tomorrow off as well.

    I had it all planned out. I was gonna do homework, and then work on my segment some more.
    ...and then I thought, "Hey, I have site updates to do...I should do those, it shouldn't take too long."
    I was dead wrong, it took me 3 hours to make all the changes.
    A lot of the changes were adding panel descriptions (the type and range of panels seem reeally good to me, should be tons of fun)
    I tried to copy/pasta, but my laptop didn't let me (trail version of ms office 2003 expired years ago)
    so that meant that I got to type in all the descriptions (23 of em IIRC)
    not so much fun...

    Then I had to trudge through the snow and wind to get to the anime milwaukee planning meeting (I was promised pizza, I couldn't resist).
    All of the amvs that I have for the contest are cleared to be shown :up:

    So I just got back from that (the pizza was a lie)
    gotta eat, then do homework, and then fiddle around in AE if I have time left over.
    I think I've had more snow days in college than in elementary, middle and high school combined

    Last thought: I don't know if I've said this before...but I try out different drinks when I get thirsty at night. Most recent challenger was Fuze helathy infuzions: refresh. It was strawberry guava...the texture was good (unlike the white tea), and it tasted alright...but I didn't really like it too much after the second or third sip. I finished it, and it kinda made me want to throw up. The taste didn't do it, but something about it just didn't feel right. I'll probably not get it again, apple juice is still the winner
  • 2008-02-05 13:14:13 @beth
    nope, had no idea...must've been the combination of the chip and the program that did it for me.
    At least you were able to sleep through the night this time.

    and now on a semi-unrelated story...whoot 5000 hits :up:

    Got my breadboard before class started yesterday. Everything went alright until circuits 2.
    The mic I brought used a mini-plug, so I couldn't record part of lecture :(
    maybe my friend will free up a minute or so of room on his mp3 player so he can record it for me.
    Minesweeper is getting boring, that and I actually needed to pay attention in "lecture" this time.
    I found out that I was on the right track for solving the problems. I need a little more practice, but should be good.
    Because I wasn't playing minesweeper, I got bored and fell asleep again :/

    After circuits2 I had circuits lab (which is why I had to buy the breadboard and component kit)
    I was supposed to design the circuit before lab...but that was never specifically mentioned or written down anywhere. Makes it kinda hard to do something that you aren't told to do, didn't help that I had homework in every class on top of that.

    So I get to lab and design my circuit, get it set up...and then I have no idea how to use the testing equipment.
    I eventually figured it out, but I still think the equipment has issues (sometimes it will measure voltage or current...sometimes it won't)
    After about 1.5hours of trying to figure out what we (lab parter and I) are doing wrong we decide that it must be the equipment, and we'll just have to derive current from the measured voltage and resistance.
    By the time I got back to my room and ate, it was pretty much time to go to bed.

    last thought for now: huh...made it to the semifinals for best trailer (blue trailer) and most helpful...I wonder how blue trailer got any votes when it's competing with stuff like Z for Zero and Seen it. It would be cool to go to the finals like I managed with the logo contest, but I'm not expecting it
