I promise I won't send him after you guys with his mega-death ray after he's a cyborg

in other news, I didn't get anything done this week...all I did was homework

starting to learn css, so the animemilwaukee site should be getting a substantial upgrade in the foreseeable future.

daylight saving time sucks...but at least I don't have to get up early tomorrow

SPRING BREAK starts on THURSDAY after my last class, but I don't get to go home til FRIDAY and then when I'm home I get to do my TAXES because NOTHING SCREAMS SPRING BREAK LIKE DOING YOUR TAXES

very good indeed, it's just like that one burger kind commercial where the chicken has to learn how to control its kick.

Joined a group of people for lab today, and by doing that I was able to get out of lab about 30 minutes early (over an hour earlier than usual)
so I used the extra time to relax tonight (and by relax, I mean watch tv and overclock my cpu some more)
now at 2.55 GHz, gonna see how much of a difference it makes in my folding % times (my best at 2.4 was 22min 54 seconds)

Managed to forget that my emf homework was due today. I got most of it done (and almost worked out the other problem I didn't finish) so it's not so bad.
got the results of my circuits2 exam back.
    76%
not super great, but better than I was expecting. I think I have a good chance of passing with a good grade now.

    plans for the week:
    -do homework
    -edit
-start sending emails to companies about internships
-ask Vellure to join the org and upload rainbow revolution

last thought for now: I showed code geass to the anime club 2 thursdays ago. Since then, 3 people have asked the first person in the club I got hooked for the series and 3 people have asked me. At least 7 people in the club were hooked after watching one episode, let that be a testament to how good the series is. If you haven't seen it yet, WATCH IT NOW (followed by clannad...code geass first though)
  • 2008-02-26 01:43:51 last person out of lab again (would've helped if the instructions were right and if I would've read the oscilloscope readout correctly :/ )

my latest attempt to get the contest onto a dvd failed, but not quite as miserably as previous attempts.
I got the thing transcoded this time, and got the error when I tried to write to the dvd
so now I'm exporting uncompressed and seeing if that'l fix it (re-import and then write to dvd)

I guess you never realize how much your computer needs an upgrade until you try to run an amv contest...but...I mustn't...give...myself...a reason to upgrade

gonna be interesting to see how everything plays out this week (gotta do homework and have an exam this week too @_@)

last thought for now: Gateway thread is epic, go read it all 10 times
  • 2008-02-24 03:46:15 got all of the amv contest videos into premiere (though I had to use mah avisynth-fu on the 3 xvid entries, and most of the mpg entries didn't wanna give me audio :/ )
ordered and ready for export, made a small mistake by putting 2 of a creator's vids next to each other...but it'l be fine.
spent a good bit of time making the bland bumpers and category titles, but I got all of them done and into the timeline.
Now all I gotta do is export the whole thing (some 82 minutes long I think...a bit short of 2 hours, but I'm not complaining.) First export I tried made the audio de-sync, second export I tried didn't mux at the end, third export I tried froze premiere...gotta get it done soon, cuz it takes 1.5 hours to render and encode it all @_@

results came back on my first exam, 18.5/20
shouldn't have tried to be fancy on the defenitions, should've just regurgitated the defenintions from the book...but it's still an A

had my second exam on Thursday, and it went well. This one was in computer networks, and it was open book open notes (which is really nice)
not expecting much trouble in that class either

In between my class and exam on Thursday I sat down with one of the judges for the amv contest and went through 21 of the 23 videos. It'l be interesting to see what the other judges think on Friday. Drama/Romance is shaping up to be a fierce battle.
The prizes mentioned earlier have turned into prize (plan A fell through :( )
how we decide to award the prize is gonna be a secret til Firday.

    List for tomorrow:
    -Laundry
    -update con site
    -export amv contest
    -pre-lab for circuits2
    -other homework
    -gateway (maybe)
why did I have to get all blue and unproductive on Friday?

Last thought for now: The exhibition videos r0x0rz mah s0x0rz. I want everyone to see them NOW!!! but I can't do that :/
  • 2008-02-19 12:31:42 Well, my run in this year's VCAs is over. I wasn't really expecting to get into the semi-finals though...so it's all good.
At this rate, I'll get into the finals next year and win something in 2 years.

VCAs are probably the best promotion that any of my videos has had, I attribute most of the 69 downloads I got so far this month to them (and it also pushed I must protect to 200 local dl's. Blue trailer is sitting at 288 local and 83 indirect)

I still have hope for the logo contest. Shooting for the finals again, and I have a solid idea for this year.

Lab ran late for me again last night, but I wasn't the last one out (for once.)
there is something to be said about organized wiring...it took me a good bit of time to figure out why my readings were coming out wrong.
All that means that I should be more prepared for next week's lab.
*hopes to get out before 9pm next week*

My package arrived yesterday...kinda wanted to get it on friday or saturday so I could spend more time installing everything, but I made a push and got everything done last night.
New fan was easy enough to install, pushes more air than my old 80mm and isn't audible
The heastink took a lot more work. The base was really, really rough...so I broke out my sandpaper, glass and some newspaper. After about 1.5hours I got it to a nice finish, slapped it on and watched it go.
The fan for the heatsink is a bit louder, but doesn't have as many high-frequency pitches...so it's tolerable.
q-fan controller puts my cpu fan at 342rpm for surfing thar interwebs, which makes it inaudible

checked the stats for the anime milwaukee site again, and now we've gotten over 1500 unique visitors

did a little work on gateway, tweaking some of the clips (which means it was back to premiere pro for me) ...and it turned out well.
still gotta work on the second half of it though

    Last thought for now:
Had my first exam of the semester today (4 weeks in just seems too early for exams)
I should probably study for these things...but at least I knew that this one was coming. If I remember nothing else, I think I'll remember the one exam that I didn't find out about until 15 minutes before the exam (I forgot about it amongst my other classes. I'm pretty sure we were told about the exam in that class about a week or two prior.) Did fine on the exam...but how do you forget something like that?
So this exam went fine, not really worried about this class
