New sound card arrived yesterday, newegg is good...but if you want ups to deliver anything in a timely fashion you almost need to order first thing on Monday :/ (I ordered a week ago, and it took 6 days for the "3 business day" shipping :/ )
I'm not really someone out for audio quality...so I can't really say if it's a good card, but it does the job (and does it well as far as I can tell.) My speakers seem to deliver a fuller sound (even more so after some tweaking things with the equalizer)
Other excursions I've recently undertaken is making my dvds look nice when they're being played back in MPC. It'l take a bit longer to figure out why MPC is choosing to blend my dvds on playback (which looks better than interlacing...but still not great)
One week left of work, then two days to pack, then back to school. I'm curious to see how much time I appear to have compared to now. -

Presentation went fine today. I survived and sounded like I knew what I was talking about. Work is coming to an end along with summer, and I haven't done much editing.
I tried to edit on Sunday, but it just didn't pan out. It seems to be getting worse and worse. Ever since I started working on I must protect it's just been going slower and slower. It'd help if I had a beta tester that has seen RahXephon, but I think most of all it's just something that I have to work through -

The code that another intern and I were working on got reviewed today. The review went pretty darn well, the software guy who checked it out was surprised that our implementation was as mature as it was.
Under better circumstances, the code could have made it into the release product...but the release for the product is coming up really soon so chances are it won't be in the initial release.
My presentation for the internship is next Tuesday, so I've also been working on that. The really cool part about next week is that the department I'm in is getting paid to go to a baseball game (paid for our time there, and paid tickets as well)
still no work done on editing of any sort this summer :/ -

Brought my car in to have the front struts replaced (a few years back, the rear struts went right after I pulled out of my dad's driveway. Tires pressed up into the wheel well doesn't make moving very easy)
and in the course of that repair something else broke
tack on another $300 and another day or two to get it fixed (better to break in the shop than on the road though)
it's just what happens with older cars I guess.
So I've spent today making my stepmom's computer run better.
~7 viruses
no firewall
norton antivirus (which I count as having no antivirus)
HDD fragmented fairly badly
tons of programs in the startup list
Used my U3 drive to get rid of the viruses (scan time...somewhere between 4 and 5 hours)
installed zone alarm
defragmented the HDD (I <3 jkdefrag)
installed spybot s&d and set it to update/run/close itself
installed AVG after uninstalling Norton (not suprisingly, norton was the reason for the ~5 minute startup time...and for a bunch of "warning: no disk" error prompts)
starts up and shuts down much better now.
begin rant:
Norton products suck (though I'm sure most of you already know that)
If you've paid for their "services" you should cut your losses and move on before your computer becomes completely unusable
Stop giving them money to damage your computer and open it up to viruses
the program can't stop simple viruses from infecting your computer, and can't detect them when they do (because if you have norton...you are just as exposed as when you didn't have it.) On the slim chance that it does detect a virus, it can't do anything about it.
They couldn't make a reliable program for vista (though nobody really can...but when you start blaming Microsoft for breaking a program you've specifically written for vista you know you've gotta be doing something wrong)
It eats up your system's resources (is it really necessary to update every 15 minutes?)
It's very intrusive
It crashes programs that would otherwise run fine
