						Original Banner Submission
						2005-07-15 07:34:49

							To show just how easy it is, I have submitted an original banner. Meaning: I drew *my own image* and made it into a banner.
 Only took me like.. an hour and a half.
 Just that little bit of extra effort... and you have a completely original banner. Is that so hard, people? Is it?

 Anyways. I'm contributing this way. And at no-one else's expense. It feels good. ^__^

						Banners on AMV
						2005-07-15 00:31:52

							My first journal post! I'm really happy to finally be a member. To tell the truth, I've tried to register twice before over the past three years, and both times something went horribly wrong and the accounts became de-activated before I even had a chance to confirm them. Probably due to silly mistakes on my part, but I don't quite understand what they were. e__o;;
 Since I never claimed myself to be perfection, I can deal with this.

 Anyway, I want to talk about something very important to me here: the re-use of original art on AMV. I don't quite understand the ins and outs of it, but there is a *lot* of what I would call unauthorized art re-use going on here (let's not use the words "art-theft".. they're too strong for this situation and all they do is promote heated arguments).
 As an artist of sorts, I am very strongly affected by this. I don't know why people are doing this, whether it's allowed by the site or not.. but I find it upsetting to see my favourite artist's pieces re-used in banners etc. without permission.
 If someone wanted to use some of my art for such a thing, all they'd have to do is ask and I would gladly let them. Re-using art without permission is STEALING. It isn't fair. It's every bit as bad as resubmitting someone else's music videos as your own.
 I may be a little out of my depth here, but this subject is confusing me, and I don't agree with it.
 I made a post in the forums regarding this subject. I hope to get responses soon that may shine some light on the situation, since I do not understand at all what is going on here.
 If you have any information regarding AMV.org's policies on art re-use, please let me know. I don't want to have to harrass people about it.
