JOURNAL: Darkest_Night

  • Done 2006-03-05 13:59:20 I've scrapped that latest project.

    Time to extend my hiatus.

  • AGP Woes 2006-03-02 01:21:44 It's truly a miracle my computer works at all. I upgraded the graphics card in it this afternoon. I figured running hardware that's almost 4 years old is truly a testament to my commitment to holding out against upgradability. Though despite my previous beliefs that I could do anything with my antiquated machine; I’ve quickly come around. Socket A is dead, and today, I’ve made that recognition. It's pity I don't have the resources to move on to 64bit architecture. It would easily reduce my encoding/decoding time to a fraction of what it is now. Curses to humanity for relying on technological-cultural evolution to replace its biological evolutionary roots in the advancement of the species. I wonder if I can revert to an ancestral Australopithecus Africanus genus…
  • Urg... 2006-02-27 22:16:48 As the universe has deemed, my ability to hold attention to anything for longer than ten seconds is about as fleeting as trying to swat a fly in a stadium. Editing has been abandoned for a week of off and on capturing footage....which I utterly despise. *Shrug* this thing'll happen when it happens, and until then....Meh.
  • Tedium 2006-02-25 04:37:48 I've begun work on the rough cut...and it's been just that, rough. :P working with found footage, despite having already been produced without having to going through the horrors of film production, still manages to suck. Capturing, logging and organizing puts me to sleep the same way white noise does.... I hope I’m not in the wrong business...eep! Anyways, I’m teetering back and forth as to whether I should constructs several shots based on masking and matting. I've been working towards refining my skills with post effects, but it most usually becomes far more work than it's worth. I remember I once spent almost twenty hours just to produce five fleeting seconds of a plate effects shot. I really don't want to go through all of that if it's completely unnecessary. Damn Hamlet, that poor bastard really was tragic to the bone...To be or not to be....
  • Thematic issues 2006-02-23 18:07:25 After spending the last two days going over in my head the premise to the theme I want to incorporate with this project, I’ve been skewed away from it on the basis the footage alone seems to render upon itself a completely different idea. A disturbing one at that. After watching Serial Experiments Lain, I’ve come to the conclusion that the entire series manages to revolve around some serious atrocities against children that runs along the themes of neglect, abuse and dereliction and perversion. It's a disturbing piece when viewed in that light, and I’m going to have to work hard to work around that with the project I wish to construct; one that certain shares many common themes and borders.
