Aye yie yie!

I premier a video, I use 3 gigs of bandwith in one day. Good christ. Welp, thats that for now. I only get 10 gigs of bandwith a month guys and I've already used one 3rd of that. I have to kill my videos from my homepage for a while, because i'm not keen on paying an extra 10 bucks per gig I use. I'm currently trying to find a mirror for deadly love, and if any of you can help me out, it'd be appreciated. On the disappointing side, I've only got one review for the video out of 57 downloads. that really sucks. I was expecting at least 4. :(
thats all for now

Ok, so they didn't want Extreme violence. Like Akira isn't extreme violence. oh well.

Stupid enter button....

So anyway, I entered Deadly Love into the intermediate class (of which with mine there were 4 entries).. The con rules specifically state: "over the top voilence and graphic sex (ie: love scenes) is ok, as long as it's not violent sex." - Ok, so I edited the hell out of wicked city so that there would be no huge sex scenes, just one or 2 sexual inuendos. Fair enough. We line up for the AMV contest and they let the creators in first (which was cool.) and as I'm taking my seat in the 2nd row, the amv guy is talking about not knowing who did the "spider lady video" to which I said it was mine. He mentioned something about doing something to it, which immediately I thought they edited it or something. Turns out they moved it to the alternative catagory because of "over the top voilence and graphic sex". (Note they played Akira clips all night.) So I was like...*sigh* whatever. You're going to play it, right? "yep." k fine. So they play the videos, and then played the winners. K... fine. SO ... half the crowd leaves when the "Alternative Competition" comes on. My video plays, people like it, and the next 2 alternative videos were done to LIVE FOOTAGE. So, now that I'm inellagible for even obtaining an honorable mention, I'm now effectively taken out of the running for any kind of an award at all.
oh, it gets better
I also entered Lord of the Ballz for the exibition, which is just a fun thing they show. So we go down to that the next day, to which I was still pretty much boiling from the previous nights fucking. They started played the exibition entries and they were mostly much better than the winning entries. (sorry guys..) They got through the videos, and played Doki Doki's entry (which won overall, of course. What a surprise. =p) with sound. (they kind of fucked that up on the regular night.) - And My friend and I asked if they weren't playing all the Exibition entries (because guess what didn't get played...) to wit we got the response "Those were all the exibition videos." Uh...no, no that wasn't. "Yes it was." Um..no, I specifically remember that you didn't play mine. "Which did you do?" - Lord of the Ballz. "oh..no..." At this point, you could just SEE the gears breaking inside this guys head because this is the second year in a ROW they forgot to play my video.
But wait: There's more.
My friend wrote an Escaflow (sp?) fan fic last year and didn't win. he wrote one this year, and basically rewrote his first one. He kept the same first chapter. Not only did he email people in charge several times to see if they recieved it and not get a response, he called them and never got called back. Well, he met up with the head judge today before we left, and the judge said "the judges didn't like the fact that you submitted the SAME fanfic as last year." To which my friend replied - "I kept the same first chapter and rewrote the rest of it. I hope the judges had the professional courtesy to actually READ my submission..." to which the response was "Um, I can't comment on it."
Wow...these people are freaken rediculious. This is only an account of 2 con goers. It wasn't all bad, however. For the entertainment side of the con was quite... entertaining. Anything that didn't need to be run by people from there went smoothly, except for the video game room. I'd like to meet the genious who thought "Lets put the game room in a not-at-all ventalated corner room...where we will stick geeks who constantly emit sweat from their bodies just from breathing...AND ADD DANCE DANCE REVOLUTION NON STOP!" &_& Just walking BY that room made me nausious.
I was kinda disappointed though. I wore my Goat Productions hat and not one person came up and said hi to me. I feel like ErMaC.. hehe j/k .. On the other hand, my friend .. with no identification talked to several people about HIS video. Well FINE! I see how it is. If it's alternative, it must suck =p
It's ok though, I'm over it `_^
btw: I think I'm the only one at the con who wasn't overly impressed with tim's video. There was slim pickens as far as competition (sorry guys, the videos this year were not too good, but there were exceptions..IE: some of the winners.) I really REALLY liked the Intermediate winner: We need a Hero set to Princess Mononoke, that was done extreemly well. Personally, I think that one should probably have won overall.
I was actually shocked to see DJ Izumi's name on a video too. That was pretty cool to recognise a name from the board who I wasn't aware was there.
So thats basically my bitter bitter recap of Anime North. If you took any of this entry personally, well, good, because thats how it was intended. you all suck, and the only reason any of you won is because my video was obviously in a class all it's own and you just couldn't compete with me. ^_^
...right...

Anime North Quick Recap
2002-05-26 22:25:59
Back from AN, and let me tell you... The con is run by the most inept people on the planet. that is all.
Oh, one other thing: I did get to meet Hakura. (That was probably the highlight of the con ^_^ ...) Awesome trigun costume!
I'll recap it more thougherally later, cause I'm SURE you all want to hear how they fucked me over for the second year in a row. `_^
