I admit it, it was me...

After a bit of tweaking and throwing together a bumper, "Who Let the 'Fros Out" is now up on the 'org Local server for DL. The link to it is here: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members/members_videoinfo.php?v=17427
I hope anyone who hasn't seen it likes it. I'd type up more, but I'm feeling lazy. :p

Back to normal life

ACen is over, and I'm back home. I'd write up a huge con report... but I just did to an extend on my livejournal (http://www.livejournal.com/users/ashyukun/), so I'll be lazy and refer people there to read about it. Short report:
It was loads of fun.
"Who Let the 'Fros Out" went over extremely well- including with several of the GoH's
... Unfortunately, it got pwned by Nappy's "The Chibi Things (that kill)", which pretty much whipped the pants off every other comedy video. (and a good number of the rest of the videos, too) ;P
MITTERNACHT took Best of Show, Euphoria got Best Technical Editing
However, WLtFO got an honorable mention (Yay!)
AMV Iron Chef rocked. I hope someday I'll get to try my hand at it!

One day more
2003-05-15 07:36:01
This time tomorrow, I'll several thousand feet up in the air and halfway to Chicago & ACen (well, assuming my flight isn't delayed or anything. Which would suck.)
I'm quite excited about the weekend. I haven't seen a number of my college friends that will be there in at least a year, and the AMV crowd that will be there will be almost all (if not completely) people who I haven't met before. There looks to be a lot of neat stuff going on. I'm looking forward to the Anime Press Your Luck gameshow- and will be doing my darndest to get into it (though I may not be allowed, since I was in one of the same guy's gameshows at Tekkoshocon). I'll get to see my first AMV Iron Chef- and see one of my friends from here as one of the people in it.
And of course, there will be the AMV contest. :) From just what little I know about it and the videos that will be there, I think it will be a whole heck of a lot of fun. I think all of the categories will be good, close competition. Hopefully my WLtFO will be one of the close competitors in the Comedy category, but I'll have to wait and see. I've gotten pretty much nothing but favorable reviews of it (my personal favorite is Quu's "that video will make everyone's brains hurt" ), but I know comedy is one of the fiercest categories at ACen. I already know of one other video that's likely to be in my category that sounds like it should be good competition. And there's always the possibility of an unknown wild-card blowing everything out of the blue like last year. Irrelevant, the contest should be quite good.
The only bad thing about the con is that between it and my wife's longer than planned stay down helping her grandmother out, I will have only been able to spend less than 8 hours or so with her over the course of two weeks, which really stinks. Thankfully, I don't think either of us will be going anywhere on our own for several months (Otakon, for me).

Wow that went fast

Dai-Osaka Rap is now finished, save a final enocde to whatever standards is necessary. I cant' believe how much of it I blew through yesterday. All that was left today to do was editing one frame and re-outputting the finished video. I now have plenty of time to have people scrutinize the lip-sync on it. I think I've got it pretty good, but I'm sure having someone other than myself look at it will catch a few adjustments that need to be made. I can't believe I have gotten the entire video done in under a week. Granted, it's like 2 minutes long, and I had far more time yesterday than I would normally (given the choice I would far prefer having not gotten the video done until the end of the weekend and not be sick....), but that's still something of a record for me. I think the Mission : Improbable segment, which was only 25 seconds, took about the same amount of time, if not more.
This means I can now move on to the NES Project video. It's not due for a month and a half, but I need to get it out of the way so I can tackle what I want to do for AWA- which will be taking some serious time. I have a fairly short track for the NES project (roughly the same length as Dai-Osaka Rap's), and it should actually be a bit easier editing-wise (since there are no vocals to lip-sync). I just need to be sitting down and playing through Metroid to get the scenes I need from it.... something I've never really done before.

I love working on AMVs that are just so much fun and so silly that it has me grinning and smirking the entire time I'm working on them. Dai-Osaka Rap is like that, at least for me. I've pretty much finished the first third or so of it, with the exception of a minor bit of lipsync tweaking and the intro. I'm just hoping I don't run out of good clips before the video is done... there just aren't a whole lot of them of Kanonji (though there are more than you might think). That's OK, I believe I've accounted for it. The only problem with this video is that it shares the same weakness that WLtFO does... without having seen a few things in particular, it will likely just leave people going "WTF????" though hopefully they'll be laughing when they say that. But, I think in general the audience at an anime con should be able to be counted on to be familiar with the more important of the two sources and get it.
