Well its been awhile since I made my last entry, I have been very busy at the Vancouver Film School and things are probably only going to get more busier. I have been selected to direct a 10 minute documentary in my class, thats going to take up alot of my time from now till the end of October and chances are other project will get my utmost attension. I still hope to make one more AMV this year then contemplate a few things but my schedual is pretty tight these days. Thats it for now I suppose.

Well I am in Vancouver now, I have wireless internet, my computer is still running, everything is ok I suppose. Well except for me having the flu but hey it happens to everyone and its not that bad at least for now.
AMV wise, I dunno right now I am just beginning Vancouver Film School so if there is an AMV along the way it wont come along till Christmas possibly.
Nothign else I suppose that would be any interest.

Well tomorrow I will leave for Vancouver, will be getting there on the 21st. I dont know if I will have the ability to go on the internet. Who knows
Chances are Society Of The Strange is my final video but you can never say never. As long as there is good anime I think I will always go back maybe.
Well its off to Vancouver Film School.

Final countdown
2005-08-11 02:24:41
Well 7 days before I move to Vancouver. Nothing really is up for me these days just packing up and getting ready.
Animethon 12 was ok, last year was more fun to me but then that could be my ego talking since I won an award that year, you can't win them all I guess, I am just happy that I won something in the 4 or 5 years doing AMVs, honestly I applaud Mikomi and hopefully this award will inspire her to make more great AMVs. This time around I didn't have much time to do much.
I mean I ran to the bus on Saturday morning, when I got to Edmonton I ran to the AMV contest, met up with a friend, ran to the contest and watched it. Honestly I didn't think this year's AMVs were as entertaining or as great as last years. Last year aside from the Avril/FFX AMVs had alot of strong stuff. This year I felt had nothing but alot of window dressing AMVs. I really enjoyed
Bride Of Beserk
and that Ramen, Feel Good AMV
As well as that one where the person mixed sky footage with anime, that was great. Other than that I wasn't really impressed.
Stayed at the Holiday Inn Express, got to watch Samurai Champloo for the first time, I feel like right now that I want my 70th (possibly last) AMV to have that anime in it, I jsut fell in love with the action scenes and the coolness of the characters, it screams AMV to me, in which way, I dunno. I want to wait till the whole series comes out before I see the full series as well as think of a song for it.
Caught a glimpse of the late night AMV showings Vlad was doing at the hotel, more or less was in the dubbing room have a little fun playing an old monk.
The panel the next day was ok, I was surprised with the turn out of people whom were creators this year as well as people interested in AMV making. I thought all the AMV makers would gathe rup front like the last two years, I sor tof made a fool of myself being the only one in the front row, plus it was a little weird having someone with a camera on me when I was doing some of those speeches.
I wished I could have stayed longer but I had to go to the Greyhound and take the last bus of the day to go back to Fort Mac. I figured I wanted to give myself an hour head start since I nearly got lost walking around downtown trying to find the hotel, i might get lost finding the greyhound. I didn't, makes me wish I could have stayed longer for the panel but I didn't want to take that chance.
I figure this was sort of the swan song for me in AMV making maybe, i doubt it but going to Vancouver I dont think I will have any time to really do any AMVs. I know I want to do one last one just make an even 70. That and I want to just wait for the right anime, the right song and do it. I find now too often I play around too much with music and anime trying to stick them together. I find that my best ideas come right after I see an anime.
For example, after watching Millennium Actress I knew I had to make an AMV out of it and the first song that popped in my head was "I'm Still Here". Its usually the first wisper before the onslaught of songs come rushing thats the best one.
I want to have that same reaction. Who knows
I think tonight I will edit my profiles everywhere and have instead of from Fort McMurray Alberta, now from Vancouver BC.

Tim Owens rant
2005-08-04 00:03:28
It always angers me when everyone blames Tim Owens for everything, or call him a Rob Halford wanabie when he replaced him in Judas Priest. I mean whom else would have rathered front Priest, Toby Keith. When Demolition and Jugulator came out, because certain people hated them they blamed Tim. Even though if you read who wrote every note and lyric it was Owens. Same goes to Iced Earth, while I thought Barlow was a great singer, in my opinion so is Owens. Lets face it people whom else would you rather have sing Iced Earth if not Barlow, Gene Adam, I certainly don't. People bash The Glorious Burden they blame Tim for it yet Jon wrote every single note and produced everything before Tim was put in the studio being considered the vocalist of Iced Earth. I think people just can't get behind Tim when put beside Barlow or Halford. In my opinion I think Owens is better than them, and in other ways not as good. When it comes to fast paced, aggressive songs, he beats the shit out of them. When it comes to the slow ballads, Owens sucks. I am actually looking forward to the next Iced Earth album with Owens singing. Owens is my favorite vocalist. If you dont like the next album, before you blame Owens, check the linear notes and chances are Jon Schaffer wrote the whole thing, he has already confirmed that.
