Rob Halford has rejoined Judas Priest!
I guess I am sure in this community not many give a shit but I dont care I am happy about it.
So what happens to The Ripper, since Iced Earth lost Matt Barlow, ther ehave been many rumors that Ripper maybe the new singer of Iced Earth. If that is so I guess I can sleep well with that just as long as he sings killer and blow Matt out of the water vocally, which is hard.
I am currently working on the SWORDS project, I already got 1/2 the clips ripped I just need to fix the fucking DVD2AVI program it seems to be screwy right now. Trying to make it produce the VOBs through huvyuv thing sorry I am bit tired right now so I cant spell it right. Once I get it worked I will get the clips I need from the VOBs then get more. I plan on working on this project for awhile since all I am doing except that is work and weight lifting, by september I am only going back to high school to upgrade on one class (physics) I will then put in an app at Nait to work on video editing or something in the television field by next year.
Now at 2004 I can expect two things except maybe passage to Edmotnon as in Nait insititue.
A new AC/DC album with John Mutt Lange possibly producing it, and a new Judas Priest album with Halford returning.
It will take awhile for me to work on my next AMV using my favorite Motorhead song (yes Motorhead, no soft music no more to use, I am going back to what I used to do that not many use that much anymore, hard heavy metal that dont get air play on the regular music video stations that much.). The video will probably be very violent so I doubt it will be allowed on the dangling carrot thing.
In 5 days I might be getting the next Queensryche album but I am having a bit of doubts, I have many mp3s of the music and the album dont sound too good I mean it is sort of lack luster. I maybe a newbie Queensryche but I just dont like the album. I download mp3s to make sure I know what I am buying is good. But that is why I never get mp3s for new Sepultura, AC/DC, Judas Priest, Motorhead albums because I know they neve rlet me down. While AC/dC dont change at least you know they wont pull 180s on you like Metallica (while St.Anger is a pretty good album but please remove Bob Rock from the producing table I hate his producing of Metallica albums).
After SWORDS that will be probably done around September or October (I am taking my time with this one) I am thinking of a few AMV ideas for the Animethon 11 AMV contest. I want to make a comedy, action, and a drama. Id oubt SWORDS would be allowed, I am pretyt muchd oing SWORDS because its one of those AMVs I am doing for myself more than others just to see if I could do it. As for getting it to be hosted, I have no idea.
Someday I want to remake my old AMVs and put them up on the dangling carrot. But I just cant seem to get the time anymore. I want to remake many that I think would be bette rnow with me having more experience

Lets just say sooner or later I will remake them I hope. Maybe after I do SWORDS I will work on remakes from October to November. Get to work on the remake of BOOH2. From January to May I work on two new AMVs and put them up for contest.

Winter Of Souls/ Back from Edmonton

Well I am back in hell (Fort McMurray) after a weekend of spills, chills (ask Reggie), and thrills, we cant forget bills too.
Where to start, I am back my legs are getting eaten alive by the masquitos that are welcoming back, finally alone. No offense I dont mind Reggie around but I need to be alone right now. Not because I am angry I guess I just feel tired right now I feel there wa smore time in the day for me to do something since I am energetic. So where do I start again, oh yeah the vacation.
We left and we were in the jimmy for a few hours, seemed like eternity. Had a good soup and lasanga (yes I mispell). Then we went on, I teased Reggie with music and told him how I am pretty much bad luck (I am) and my dad brings natural disasters anytime he leaves Fort Mac or Alberta. Reggie took it to heart espacially when a shit ass big storm came on, I was playing Stormrider by Iced Earth, freaking Reggie out big time, had a blast doing it, see Cindy is not the only one who can tease him to the breaking point. We got to the hotel for the first time with NO PROBLEMS, my dad did not get lost, because the directions were so easy. We got settled in and we watched TV then went to sleep. Neither one of us could sleep throughout thr night the anticipation of the AMV contest was eating us alive, I have I think 3 hours of sleep in total.
We wake up, feel healthy and get to Animehton pretyt early, big line up for the bracelets we had to wear went all around campus trying to find change since they only excepted exact change. After all the hocus pocus we went and had our booklets when I had a slap in the back from CIndy, gave me a magizine with some hefty music riffs and a AC/DC interview. I got to get back on my guitar and try to play Stillborn since it is on there. Anyways we met up but soon parted since when to see Infinite something (sorry my memory is jogging). It was good anime but I only wanted to see an hour of it since I wanted to get to the dealers room.
Went to the dealers room and spent ALOT OF time there. lets set the record straight me and Reg only seen two anime at the show, seriously. It is becaus eof me though because I am such a cautious shopper I looka roun dand take my time to decide Reggie was pretty much behind me like a parent impatiently I know it, I told him he can go to an anime and I will catch up with him but he did not want to separate with me. I bought Patlabor Movie 3. Before the AMV contest Reggie wanted to get a bite to eat so we went to the closest place which was Bostin Pizza, had a great lunch. Walked back hyped. Reggie has been arrogant all month thinking he had a chance, me I knew from the second I wouldn't have a chance but I thought I may be runner up for drama at most.
We went to the show and met Vlad honestly I didn't expec thim to be so old, not old old but i mean most AMV makers I know are teenagers or in their young 20s. Pretty cool meeting him, also other AMV creators, 7 local (Albertian) creators were there, me and Reggie were the first creators in and got front row center with our voting papers. I was so shocke di wanted to keep the voteing paper and put it on a frame to show I was part of this event. And so I watched.
I wish I had the list of the real 39 creators in the AMV thing but I didn;t becaus eif there was I would talk about them all but I will only talk about the important ones.
Phenomoen - THis was Rubyeye's vid, I called it the gilotine because lets face it, Rubyeye is one of my AMV gods and he set the standard with his.
Funny Valentine - SInce I am a big Feye Valentine fan (lets say I have a school boy crush on the animated woman). THis one was one of Mindwaprs and I loved it, not because of Feye, it was the concept and how it was done. Feye too
Top Gun Dangerzone - Honestly I didn't mind it but I didn't think it was all it was cracked up to be, the ending however is what I bet got the judges to give this one the action award
Alternate Reality - I will admit that is was funny but lets face it, IT WAS ANNOYING! I disliked this video the most out of the show. THis was a over use (I put that bluntly) of special effects, most of the time the video clips wer enot even visable to me and I wa sint he front row I didn't understand what the message wa sor anything all it was full of was crappy visuals scrachyness just for the fun of it, and the no loadings. It pissed me off but it wont the most awards (technical and artistic), shows that special effects win in the end.
Fight! - Funny, I am not surprised it won the comedy
Time Warp - This one audience over all yet it had ba dlip sync (worse than me) insulted alot of my roles characters. But hey I thought it was funny but who knows. Like Reggie said the people there only went for the funniest, they didn't go for the most artistic or more expressionest stuff.
GLory Of Love - I honestly thought I didn't have any competition in drama since i seen the AMV site for my competition and I didn't see any. This one came and I knew that I wasn't gonna win the drama, I knew the drama chance slipped.
Blue Baby - I hoped Reggie would not get booed for it, but honestly watching it on the big screen, it wa smuch better than I remembered it. I guess I spent more time running it down than truely looking at it as fan and not a teacher. In the end I am proud of my padwan (inside joke). But i still think he need alot to learn
The World Was Never Enough - I was third in line and I was sacred to death I felt my video sucked but I watched it as a fan and I thought it was very very enticing and artistic I grown a new found confidence in myself that i thought my video may have a chance. The cheers i got after wer ehelpful but lets face it they much rather laugh and boo at Gendou than clap for a video that shows the side of him that no many want to see or care for, but thats just me.
History In Anime - I got laughs out of people that is the main thing but in my opinion the opening credits and closing credits should have stayed because it added to what i wanted witht he video that is why for anyone who seen it didn't think the begnning or ending was good is becaus ei had to cut it out , rules of the show. I also felt that the censored sucked I felt it removed the points I wanted to show in the video, nothing smutty, purely comedy but in the end the censore dhope of funny failed in my opinion..
After it all we were pretty confident that maybe we could win at leas tone award. Reggie voted for me (he lied to Cindy), I didn't say anything, I voted for Reggie. Why because I neve rhave any luck voting for myself. And in the end I much rather see a local person win than some one from another country. I felt that I would rather see Reggie win than anyone else, so I voted.
I bought Burn Up Excess (yes Adam rejoice I have the sequel to the show you seemed to enjoy) I also got a Inu Yasha shirt (yes an Adam show shirt) why because they had little or nothing good in shirts, so I took the next best thing since Reggie too Hellsing shirt (a Corey Show). Went to the Cosplay after getting two portraits ofmyself. When we found that we lost and the others won the awards Iw as literally pissed off, I wanted to leave. Reggie was angry as well we left.
We did see Rj and we hung out for the whiles but nothing much.
We went to the hotel angry and making complaints like the sore losers we were but at the end i was sick of crying about it and I said "look I dont care, I am more interested in doing this again next year, I want to stick this AMV world up their asses with an AMV that will shock. He who laughs last, laughs best.". As you could say I was in a angry mood but in the end it wouldn't work. So the decisionw as, to watch Burn Up Excess or Patlabor 3. I knew Patlabor would be a serious show, Reg and me were pissed off I knew something serious would annoy us (thank god we didn't it, I will tell later). We watched the half of the serious of Burn Up Excess and all of the steam went away, yes many problems but many good things. RJ would love this shwo but me and Reggie had many good neede dlaughs. As well as the ICE incident with the drinks (ask me and I will tell). Got another Pizza from Bostin's and then we decided to watch Patlabor 3.

I am a Patlabor fan and I have to say the movie sucked, why well for one thing it gets the worst rating I ever gave a movie.

Why do I get the feeling that they only Patlabor thing on it just so it could sellw ell. I hated it, it had little or nothing to do with the real patlabors tillt he end, super boring and nothing great about it. a Pure 50 dollars wasted I hope the sepcial features and the sepcial DVD that comes witht he P3 DVD set is good. Haven't watched it.
So we slept good. Woke up and packed, put our stuff int he Jimmy. Went to see Astro Boy and I have to say IT WAS GOOD, enough said.
I bought a Ranma 1/2 shirt. Then I bought Black HEaven (another Corey SHow) DVD 1 and 2. Then I bought 3 posters and got another portrait of myself, this time in color.
Sorry for such a breif but I got to get to sleep now since i will go to work at 10 am today I guess so they can work me till they hav enothing left then they can let me leave early if needed and I can hav eone huge animethon of my own. I fnot I get a good 7 hours in.
RJ got me the anime I needed, except Bastard which is a bummer but not a serious one I guess, just a minor set back. My mom got me some new socks, jeans, a Megadeth Shirt, Nightwish DVD, and a Demons And Wizards CD. I guess I am spoiled but I didn't tell them to get it I told them if you see it and if you want you can get it..
In the end I had an alright time but I thought the artist gallery was better last year.
The dealers room was WAY to crowded as well as all the anime rooms. Allt he ones i went to were either close to being full or already full. Me and Reg would have seen Lupin III but the subtitles were so small and burry it wa simpossible to see it.
Honestly they need to get a bigger place to hold it.
We also went to the AMV making panel, RJ was with us, told his sotry, Reg told his story, I told mine. And I fell in love. With a woman AMV creator that seemed to take interest in my AMVs. We talked a bit as wellas with Vlad, Reg and RJ, and some other guy about AMVs. I enjoyed the converstation it i snot often that we can talk so much about AMVs. The girl was hot too, at leas tto my standards, she made the Black Black Heart video which make sme like her even more. But its Reggie she willt alk to since she and him are talking as well as Rj getting info of where she is living or contact info. Yet again women talk quick to me and leave I guess. Like I said to RJ, now you know why I chose Ranma for you and RYoga for me, "I am the lonely nice guy, while you are the closet pervert who tends to steal all the women from me." Rj laugh ed and agreed, typical. So I went on Ig uess.
I should shut up and sleep. I will have to unpack tomorrow since it is too late for me right now. Anyone have any questions for me can leave questions ont he add comments thing and I will answer them as soon as I have the time.
In the end I learned that AMV making and competiting is not about satisfying the crowd or killing yoursel ove rlosing, gloating over winning. In the end its about having fun and if you dont like your work, others wont. I am just happy I got a decent ovation for my Gendou vid, pretty good one for the History In Anime, a big one for after I talk about how I get inspiration. Maybe I am still cocky at times but I guess in the end if I dont have some confidence I will be too depressed and become lazy. Arrogance alows me to be active.
But lets face it I will never win an award ever! That I realized now but to me it doesn't matter just as long as I am there to have fun I guess. OLD SHCOOL AMV MAKER TO THE END BWAHAHAHAHA (yes I need sleep). I got a good idea coming back from Edmonton listened to the Demons And Wizards album fully, that may be my answer back for next year, you seen the case study of the father, now next is the son.
In the end I had a good time, I look forward to get constantly better at AMVs now, at least i Know I have some patioential but i know that I will still have alot to learn, but I still got the time in the world.
- No Cat Scratch Fever 2003-07-08 23:56:17 Looks like the remake wont happen since i can get helpt o put the file over so I will have to postpone it for some other time. I cant get the DVD2AVI to work again, it seems that when I transfer it to anything no matter how redculed it is for use or accepted it dont seem to work, I need to try more codecs, which means I must reinstall VideoWave I guess since it had many stable codecs. I can use them to try because I will need them once I get back from Animethon 10 at Edmonton. I am planning on working on SWORDS once I get back.
- Lack of musical expression 2003-07-03 22:18:05 I have to agree with Rubyeye, this AMV community really lacks alot of music taste but I guess in the end its all in the ears of the listener sometimes. I guess from how I see it I barelly download AMVs anymore around here, none ar einteresting and most of time when music I think would be suiting appears it is always put to anime I had/have not interest for, like Final Fantasy, no offense but I dislike Final Fantasy games, I dont really consider them anime at all, the Final Fantasy anim is anime so I guess I dont care about that. In the end this place lacks music that rocks most of it is pop,dance,trance, or anything common found in clubs and MTV these days. It seems that the rocker AMV makers that have been prominent have been dying out. I wont die out. After animethon 10 I plan on working a AMV that would will super heavy, pretty fast paced and everything pretty (visually) SWORDS emulated through good ol Motorhead music. Since I can seem to get the tank police file i want back on my normal drive I am usually bored i may go with a side project that i have been thinking of doing for some time now. Sort of a return to the Metal Wolf Moment but more the less an AMV music video that may mark my return to metal/rock at a time where it is surely needed in the AMV world. Possibly more info soon enough.
