Im kinda drunk, so heres my journal entry. Forgive the bad spelling, it tends to happen when your... your'ew... YOU'RE drunk. I'm sorry. I hate lots of humanity, you know? No one understands satirical humor anymore, they take shit so seriously... you know what I'm talking about. Yeah, you. YEAH! I SAID YOU FUCKER! Oh, I shoulda probably put in a disclaimer talking about the fact that I curse a lot sometimes... does that make sense? See, I CAN type when I'm drunk, I just do it differently. I swear. Honestly. Okay, so I am going to make some videos, really I am. I might weven submit them if I can get to the post office sometime in the next century. Really. I'd do the digital thing, but... eh. I did it for AWA. There's a contest where people will be pissed off, right? I fucking love AWA.
This is a new paragraph. So I hate the forums and I never want to talk on them. Ever. DOOM DOOM DOOM. Whoever actually reads this journal expects me to talk about how the fucking AMV community is going down about as fast as Hugh Grant in a hip-hop club. Was that offensive? It gets worse. So I've decided feminism is dead, mostly because ninety percent of the women out there like dancing on bars shaking their asses. WHile I don't mind the occasional romp, this is bullshit, utter bullshit. GLORIA STEINEM! WHERE ARE YOU! Christ, I mean, horny is horny and slutty is slutty. Yes, that applies to men as well. But truly, I don't think women have much respect for themselves these days. I blame third wave feminism for this current trend in booty-licious sex-arena. Women are apparently taking control of their sexual identities - I am aware of the pun in there - yet, how is it any different? Do you think some frat asshole gives a shit if you're using him? Get off it, he wants only one thing, and while it's still your choice, you're giving in to exactly what he wants. This agenda makes UTTERLY NO SENSE to me. Get your fuck on, I don't care. Just don't call yourself a fucking feminist. A philosophical movement is supposed to evoke change - WHERE'S THE FUCKING CHANGE?!
Okay, that's good enough for that. Next up we have something a little more on topic. The fucking AMV community. You cocksuckers are some of the most unartistic blokes this side of Communism. I hope that made sense. And of course this does not apply to the entire community. But for chrissakes, let's pull our heads out of modernity's ass. I mean, come on. I want to see some new shit. This is supposed to be a burgeoning art form... WHERE'S THE FUCKING ART?! If someone does go for something new and artistic, it's usually ignored. But every week, if joe-schmo releases his latest epic, utilizing fuckin Trigun to Rammstein's Engel, hosted off the server of his fuckin poly-tech, as long as he (or she, lets not be sexist just because we're drunk, okay?) has a "good name" (i.e. LOTS of posts) on the fuckin forum, it MUST be good!
Ah, the forum. Here's a great idea that just died recently. The forum use to be fun. I've been here long enough to know there was a time in the AMV world before 2002. Maybe I was a lurker for about half a year, but that's neither here nor there. Things use to be fun. Now what? What the fuck happened? Honestly, I want to know. If I have you reading this far along, then you must answer me. Maybe I'm too bitter to be a part of this community anymore. I mean, where's the technique? Where's the concept? I haven't seen a truly revolutionary concept in a long time (save Vlad, whose concept was great - but still, that's one in a solid year of nothing special). Well, I'm tired of writing. And while I'll probably forget I even wrote all this bullshit and regret it tomorrow when someone calls me a bitter cocksucker, I don't really care, because I'm drunk. And some other stuff. Yeah. That's it for now. I guess. Fuck, my head hurts... STOP FUCKING TYPING! I swear to CHRIST I will bash this fucking keyboard over your head if you don't FUCKING STOP!

BLAH BLAH. This community is... dying. What happened to AMVs in the past year? They use to be fun... now we have a large group of squabbling, ego-maniacal fanboys. There have been NO cutting edge videos to push forward the art of AMVs in the past year. Art of AMVs... I can't believe I just said that. "Art" of AMVs. Is there such a thing? Not as of yet - all those who have tried to instill some sense of artistry have either left the community or haven't been noticed.
Oh well, hopefully this is just a funk for the time being.
Anyway, this is a journal. Dear diary - I've been working on my DDR video quite a bit. It's coming along. Hopefully it'll be something memorable, as I haven't produced a complete, released AMV in a year. So I will finally have another. I know I use to have fans... but then I went on hiatus so long everyone seems to have forgotten I exist. I'll release two AMVs this year. One for AWA, one for the DDR Project. Fun-fun. Then again, I may have another nervous breakdown... why do I even write in this journal? Oh yeah, I don't.

That's it. Time to play hard ball. You people want some crazy, filmic, mindblowing music video? Nobody will like what I have to offer. There's so much talking going on. And yet, the most original thing I've seen done on this entire database is EK's video. You know what I'm talking about.
So, I have two videos in the works, possibly three. One is nice and easy. The second is highly difficult and will make a lot of people boo, I do believe. The third, that will be interesting. If I do it. I'm just too busy with my real work, my job, my life, creating a feature film. I don't really want to talk about that though, as an independent feature film could fall through at any moment.
Videos, videos, videos. Everyone is in an upstart about this or that. ErMaC, blah blah blah. VCA, blah blah blah. Watch my new amazing video! It's my sixty-eigth video, and I only started doing this stuff three weeks ago!
Am I bitter? Yeah. I'm getting a little sick and tired of the AMV community. Should I care? No, it just gets to me a bit. THIS IS A HOBBY, folks. Who cares if you get an award or not. If ONE person saw your video and liked it, BE HAPPY! You aren't getting paid! I mean, how many of you are trained editors? Let me step that back - how many of you are out of high school?
I'm fairly certain posts such as these alienate the "AMV community." Hell, I'm on the "VCA awards" thing. Do I think I'll win a thing? No, but I really don't care. I do this for myself. I'm glad people like some of my work, that makes me happy. But whether or not an award is received means nothing. I just do what I do. Why get so worked up? I do know ErMaC is going to get best new creator - why? Because he talks on the forum. He keeps up with his journal. People on in this community know his name. And that's fine. That doesn't anger me, that's just the way it is here.
What does anger me is when some kid who has no editing experience takes it upon themselves to lay down the law on editing. If you're seventeen and you haven't been past second base simply because you spend all your time on the computer either talking on this site or editing together crap that wouldn't make it past the first round of a film fest, you simply can't understand the layered nuance of Truffaut or Goddard's New Wave editing technique. Someone with no experience cannot see references made when they have no idea there is a reference in the first place. This is the mainstream. And this is also why I don't pay much attention to the VCA.
I've entered over fifty professional film festivals. I've won twice. That, in-and-of itself, is quite a feat. I've entered four AMV contests, and won something in each, from the first con I entered. There is a major difference there. Perhaps going through so many festivals has hardened me, but I just don't care whether I win an AMV contest or not. IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE FUN. Of course, this post will probably guarantee I never win again, as the AMV community is also smothered in unnecessary politics.
But, this is the way things are, and I probably shouldn't complain.
I just think that before anyone can treat AMVs as an art, some sort of artistic integrity must be injected. The main art form AMVs are based on is editing. So why not watch some? And not just "The Mummy Returns," but something more. Watch Potemkin - that has the most brilliant use of montage ever put to film. Start somewhere, know what you're talking about. And stop talking about yourselves. How many egos need to clash on this site? Nobody here has done enough to justify such oversized egos. Your video isn't new. It isn't original. Nothing is. At least do something intiguing with that concept.
Well, I've run out of things to say for now. I hope at least one of you out there either understands or agrees with what I have to say. Maybe I'll make another journal entry in another four months. And if I alienated any of you, sorry, but this is how I feel. Well, this is the abridged version. have fun everybody.

I'm back... again

Well, several new things have happened - I now have a nice new studio space to edit in... a nice, quiet little building behind my house. I call it my shed. It's a modified shed, and it is now gorgeous, but it was, in fact, in a previous life, a shed. Now it's my studio and I love it.
Also, I have a brand new host and it's wonderful. All my videos are back up. I will soon have a site back up. Everything will be peachy keen! So, people can download em again. I may keep the Eva vids up for a very limited time, though.
Also, I've begun work on my next video. I have some CG done. No source captured... but that's okay, source comes last. That's how much CG there is. Anyway, I'll update the world as soon as anything really interesting happens... Gambitt and I will be starting another collaborative work soon, and it'll be much more fun than "Numb" (though not as poignant... see, he starts a collaborative project, it's laced with meaning - when i do it, it's all goofy).
