  • @Dax 2005-09-16 20:19:01 Oh, I didn't realize we were referring to NORTHERN Ohio....the two ugly stepsisters of Toledo and Cleveland. (With Cinderella Sandusky in the middle.) Having to pay tolls will suck the enjoyment of any road too. I get depressed even on the Florida Turnpike on the way to WDW.

    I-70 East has the rolling hills coming in from PA and WV. I-70West is pretty dull once you get West of Dayton, but the nearest Stucky's to Ohio is just a few miles over the Indiana border. (MMMM...pecan rolls) 71 South heads into Cincinnati which has admittedly lost some of its charm...but its still better than Cleveland.

    ok, I just said I considered Toledao and Cleveland ugly. (And they are) But Toledao has Tony Packo's...the best hungarian hot dogs you'll ever find. (Anyone remember Jamie 'Klinger' Farr bragging about them on the show MASH? The restaurant is real.)

    I'll take Ohio anytime...I absolutly HATE to drive through Illinois (Except for Chicago, BOR-RING!) I wouldn't even want to think about places like Kansas and Nebraska. (Look kids...A CAR!!!)


    Of course, as evil as I've been in this life, I figure I'm going to be re-incarnated as a Texan.

    We were going to be short a person this morning from 0600-1400 (That's 6a to 2p for you non-jarhead types.) I'd nagged our office manager to make sure he had a temp lined up all week. I'm dealing with one person on vacation and another who had been (reportedly) sick all week but had returned a Dr.'s excuse to return to work last night.

    What I don't know until late, is that Ms. flu bug decided to quit. She called our office and gave 2 days notice...assuring my mgr. that she'd at least finish the week. 11p comes and she hasn't shown up, no call, bye bye.

    I get a call from my 2nd shift supervisor telling me what has happened and I call my manager. I get the joyous news that I'm now short a 2nd person and we'll just have to find some way to fill the gaps on our own...my 2nd shift supervisor is already prepared to stay over and I'm changing my alarm clock to get there by 3am. I press for details on my >other< open shift in the morning and am again assured someone is working on it.

    Up and in at 0-my-god-its-early, 0600 roll around and no fill-in. i call my manager who passes the buck to another office manager. who passes back...my manager shoots, HE SCORES! NO, WAIT, HE MISSED! They claim someone else should have been on the way but must have overslept. I have to pull my parking lot guy in to cover the missing position (loading dock). Meanwhile, the 2nd manager gets ahold of the guy he says he expected in and has him on the way. He arrives an hour and a half into the shift but at least he's here. He also assures me that the morning's call to come in was the first he'd heard and NO ONE had made prior arrangemts.

    (Today was actually the best day of my week so far...at least I didn't have the police after me like Tuesday.)

    Tomorrow I'm short a 2nd shifter and looks like another 12 hour day...

    I had an even worse case PM once and want details on how to make an AMV...so bad I had to write back with "Sorry, I don't follow dyslexic." He cleaned most of it up but also explained that was the latest 'web tok' (Web talk) and that >everyone< was 'tokkin th wy' (With the suggestion that I was behind the times.)

    Ok, so I am...now what time does Star Blazers come on again?
