Decisions II

Wife Tammy and her cousins made it to their motel yesterday afternoon. Once they actually made it onto the freeway I guess things finally started going their way.
That is, except for the rain. When I talked to them last night, they were moping around their motel room. They'd had the idea of finding a beach but they're getting heavy downpours of liquid sunshine. Depending on how their doing for funds, Tammy may talk them into heading up to South of the Border...one of the biggest tourist traps in the Eastern US.
Daughter and I can't make up our minds what we want to do this weekend. Most likely going to Windsor Canada on Saturday. Have a reservation for a Marriott in Detroit Sat night and then hit either the Henry Ford Museum OR Greenfield Villiage on Sunday. Our other likely choices are amusement parks but we're getting pretty pooped out on these for the year; Plus we wouldn't make those an overnight trip.
The Greenfield Villiage is my preferred stop, but I'll be taking the scooter on this trip as my feet are still giving me severe problems and not all of the historical buildings are handicap accessable. The main museum has a display of historic Disneyland artifacts that Tierney is intersted in seeing, but past experience shows she gets bored really quick and then wants to spend the day in the gift shops....buy me this...buy me that...ad nauseum.

More tales from the road
2005-10-05 07:53:34
Wife and her cousins got their rental. (With my help.) I was successful in talking the clerk into substituting a mini van for the Kong-sized SUV. (They gripped that the rear seats didn't give them much leg room, but since they'll save about $100 in gas, they didn't complain too much. They hit the road just before 4pm.
I got a call about 7pm that they were lost somewhere in the Hocking Hills area of Ohio, about 60-70 miles south of Columbus. They were trying to pick my brain for instruction on how to get back to where they needed to go and I don't have a map handy. (Daughter and I had just finished seeing the movie 'Corpse Bride;.)
I got home and managed to get them pointed back in the right direction. (Although it took several attempts. the ding-dongs were trying to keep driving while I was giving directions and we kept losing the signal, instead of them pulling over and >writing< stuff down.)
Wife called be last night about 10pm, after I had gone to sleep for the night to say they finally had reached West Virgina. Only taking 6 hours for about a 3 hour trip.
Oy vey.
I'm waiting for her to call with a new update. Hopefully that they're on a freeway now they'll make better time.

Hi Sub and your evil twin. :)

(Or is that the other way around?)
Its been a real comedy of errors today...luckily none my fault.
Today my wife and 4 of her cousins were supposed to leave about 9am on the road to Parris Island SC to see another cousin graduate from the Marines.
I've been after them for weeks to make sure everything was all set and was told they thought they had everything together. I traveled with these people once and they were NOT prepared to wipe their noses on the sleeves if they had to.
Sure enough, the dumb dumbs tried to pick a rental van with some wierd 'pre-paid' debit card I'd never heard of and were rejected. Then they tried to call another company with the idea of depositing the money from the debit card into wife Tammy's bank account while another cousin is the only one with a driver's liscense.
Nope, while Budget and Enterprise will take debit cards tied to bank accounts but they have to be owned by the DRIVER...so that was out too.
They finally got a half-way decent idea...they called me. I'm not entirely thrilled by this idea but I see no other way of getting rid of them. They depositeds the money into my bank account and I've reserved them a mid-size SUV from Budget. (And have already been told that I'd get bumped up to a full-size Expedition. (Glad I'm not filling the tank on this trip. I'm hoping I can get them a mini-van instead.) They were disapointed when I insisted they pay for a Loss Damage Waiver on top of the rental. That extra $140 pays for any damage they may to to the truck instead of leaving me hanging...Presuming they don't get into a major crash and Budget finds out I'm not along for the ride.
What I won't do to get some peace and quiet.

LOL! I used to play a lot of paintball. Looks like you've discovered one of my rules for combat operations.
Some of my other favorites:
Incoming fire has the right-of-way.
If the enemy is in range, so are you.
No battle plan survives contact with the enemy.
Never draw fire, it irritates everyone around you.
When in doubt, 'spray and pray'.

Gots my asbestos jockey shorts on this time...
I'm relieved Caryn wasn't mad at me at all. I'd kinda figured she just needed to vent and I got in the way. I figured that even if I'd hit a nerve on accident, a good ' I'm sorry ' might be just what the doctor ordered. Just like seeing blood instead of wings, it all came down to a matter of perspective.
(BTW - Don't feel too bad...I haven't had any banners approved yet either. My last one was rejected out-of-hand for 'not showing the org in a positive light'. I was poking fun at videos with lip flap.)
I'm not crazy about hanging out in the chatrooms either, although my one brief stopover was a positive one. I just can't get enough time to bring my rapier-sharp wit into play. :) (As Daffy Duck once said, “Ho! Ha ha! Guard! Turn! Parry! Dodge! Spin! Thrust! >TONG<!)"
The angst around here is murder. I can understand having a bad day at school or work and needing to unload, but over the weekend, someone mentioned about a 'friend' who just wanted to be "fuck buddies". Sheesh, no wonder everyone's spirits are so low with creeps like that.
