I hurt all over. (And what doesn't hurt, doesn't work.) I've still got a severe muscle strain from pushing the van the other day. Plus I thik I'm picking up a new infection in my right foot (although there is no telltale pink or red spots yet) after I got a really bad blister yesterday walking a few blocks to the local polling place for the elections. (Locally, the good guys won; But the bad guys still control the rest of the state...for now.)
Speaking of things that don't work...it appears my van's troubles have multiplied. I went to check (hoping) if it was just a belt that broke. Instead, it looks like the power steering pump that sits above the alternator has been leaking....and may or may not have shorted out the alternator. Now theres something else to fix, and I can't be certain that I don't have to replace both parts. :(
Right now, it looks like my best bet is to bide my time and buy a replacement car in two more weeks when I'll have some spare money. (Although that same $500 down payment would come close to also fixing the van...decisions, decisions. Fix the van I hate and delay getting another car even longer, or jump ahead and go into debt tryng to get something I may like?)
Dax - I haven't forgotten about leaving you a few QC's, but since I'd already downloaded your videos once, It wouldn't give me the option to leave a QC again even after re-downloading. I'll have to catch you on your future projects. (Ok, I could give a 'real' opinion. Have just felt too crappy lately to do that.)
Renfest question for those out West - Is there a heavy Scottish flavor such as exists here in the midwest & Canada? Although things started quieting down the past couple of years; For awhile, 'JUST EWE IT' dominated the local renfest scene. -

Whenever I'm feeling especially old. I look for forum posts by 'oldwrench' He's got even me beat. (Mid-50s I believe.) Too bad he's the only one that I know of.
Ever have to 'hide' certain shows from your kids? My step-daughter keeps getting into my ecchi collections. I have to change my computer passwords almost weekly now becasue shes gotten so good at sneaking around and looking for clues as to what my password is. She primarily loves the challenge of 'getting one past me'. I keep warning her that momzilla is going to go ballistic one of these days if she catches her watching something she shouldn't. -

If it was just one service center I'd be really po'd. but this is universal. I'm just frustrated with the thing. If anything I'd like to get my mits of the guy in Tokyo who designed this thing...he ought to commit sepukku for this. On top of the >well documented< alternator troubles in this particular model, it has one wheel drive which makes it totally worthless in snow and its one of the worst riding viehicles I've ever encountered. ('85-'87 Toyota Van. They didn't even give it a model name...just 'van'.) I miss the Mazda Protege I used to have last. >That< was a good car.
My step-daughter is 12 but conceivibly I could have had kids in their 20s by now. -

The alternator on my van that I just replaced two months ago crapped out again. I ended up having to push my POS the last 3 blocks to work. I'm still wrung out and coughing from the strain.
While the alternator is under warranty, replacing that thing is a stone cold beeyotch. Even the 'official' service centers of the parts shop that sold it too me want $200+ LABOR to replace this thing.
