Doki doki - Oh... 2005-12-10 18:33:27 The postman finally arrived about an hour ago (5:30pm). Screwed me from getting to the bank, but I did get an unexpected extra $60 check in addition to the one I was expecting.

Had lots of work I needed to do...shopping and laundry. Instead, I wasted all morning waiting on the stupid postman to arrive with a check I needed to deposit. (The regular postman gets here around 10am or so.)
Just when I was ready to give up and start the chores, I get a call from work. While I work directly for an insurance company, they have a seperate full service bank accross the street from their headquarters. Turns out they had their first robbery and asked for someone to check our security cameras for any clues that might turn up. I wanted to blow it off until Monday at first, I've heard 'robbery' before and it usually turns out to be some cleaner picking stuff (like candy) of some secretary's desk. (The Bank does not actually have their own security officers, wanting a 'modern, customer friendly' atmosphere. And they didn't really give my people much details at first.) They finally made it clear that this was a REAL theft and my staff advised that the Vice President I report to was personally coming in and needed my help. Talk about a horse of a different color!
I live only about 15 minutes from the building and the VP was about an hour or so away. I got in and started reviewing video. I not only quickly managed to get good video of the crook casing the place and making his move, he also tried to hide his getaway truck in another part of our property and I located it. By the time my boss arrived, I had just about everything wrapped up and ready to hand over to the police and FBI. (Yup, even the big boys were involved.) The local PD detective said even he was impressed by my video tracking skill. The only thing I didn't get was a name, but they believe they can enhance the video of the liscense plate and find out who he was. -
Oh how I love Ohio State :)
