  • Ugh 2004-11-03 11:00:37 Ever notice how strange life can be? I got up to puke at 2am and feel like crap...but its a big improvement over yesterday.

Looks like I got the flu or a damn determined bug. I normally laugh off anything that dosen't put me in the hospital but yesterday was close. I got up at 4 yesterday puking until nothing was left. Went to work and called my 2nd shift Sgt. in to relieve me early. I'd worked extra for her last Friday because I was supposed to go to my podiatrist today. Ever call a doctor and tell him you're too sick to come in? :)

Just before leaving work, The secret service actually called me to confirm that an old newspaper delivery van actually belonged to an employee here...Bush's motorcade was coming by and they were not taking chances. (One of those big, stainless steel monsters that is just what the latest terrorist needs to smuggle his stash of RPG's in.)
Speaking of which, looks like we're stuck with that dummy for another 4 years. I actually think he was elected this time at least even if we're here in the last state that could make-or-break the election. (Ohio)

Come on, how could the country with the best intelligence agency in the world screw up so badly on so many points? Bush just wanted to get back for his daddy's embarassment at not catching Saddam 10 years ago.

Well, I hope the hicks and rednecks that voted for him are happy when their sons came back in body bags.
  • Seele AMV Contest 2004-11-01 10:02:50 Whoo Hoo!

    Kane's Romance Award -
'Citizen Kane' (Judge) gave his prestigious award to this video:
Streamliner Studios - Girls Who Like Girls

    >THAT< was unexpected! Only slightly disapointed it didn't take the actual 1st prize but considering I had to sneak in into the contest anywhere I could I'm excited it took any sort of prize.
And I'm still elegible for Ohayocon. (I think?)

17 days and counting until vacation....

  • Anime USA Contest 2004-11-01 08:48:05 Didn't win. (Not surprised there.) I do feel pretty good because I did predict the winner. (Cowboy Andy's US of Whatever.) I had some hope that I might sneak in because there were >2< videos using the same song and people may have gotten sick of it and also because it is political oriented; But frankly I gotta agree it was a better video. (I am a little surprised that the OTHER version got 3rd place in the fan voting. I deffinetly thought it would have died because of the first video.)

At least I'm still eligible to show at Ohayocon. :)

Just barely got started on my Next Big Thing. I'm not happy with my dvd capture quality on Love Hina and keep re-doing it without better results. I'm afraid the best conversion from vob-avi may be using Divix but I can't figure out how to disable that &^$#* logo.
  • The TALK, pt. 1 2004-10-24 08:48:57 Got my new DVD burner last week and finally got my hard drive cleared out of about 15g of files. Now I can start making my rips for my new project.

That is if I can get my mind on work. As we get closer to our Florida trip its becoming harder to concentrate on anything other than what we want to do while there.

My daughter was full of scandal last night. She went to a birthday party for a freind and one of the other girls used the word 'sex'. Not a one of them has a clue what it means but they know they were not allowed to say it.
Tierney wanted to get a better understanding why it was verboten.

She is only recently my 'daughter' as I am not her biological dad. My wife is her biological mom but she was taken by the county before I met my wife because she ended up homeless for a while and was laced with a family who adopted her. My wife met me just before the adoption was finalized and I promised a court fight if they tried to end all contact between my wife and her daughter. (But I knew we'd also lose.) The family was very willing to let Tammy stay in her duaghter life and we've had contact ever since then. Unfortunatly, about a year after the adoption went through, the mother passed away and the dad has been taking care of Tierney and another daughter of theirs ever since. (They do have a huge Catholic family so there was some help.) A couple of years ago the dad met another woman and they are now engaged. Tierney didn't want anything to do with her future step-mom and they battled constantly. They finally gave up this past spring and offered to give Tierney back to us. Out of the blue - BAM! - We're parents of an 11 yo.

Tiernry has had a pretty sheltered life before living with us...private catholic schools and a house in the country. Now she's having a bit a culture shock living with us in an 'urban' enviroment. (Not quite slums, but mostly 'poor and proud' (transplanted West Virgina / Kentucky hillbiliies) folks on the West edge of downtown Columbus. Like an oversized trailer park with 100 year old houses instead of trailers.)

Anyways, I tried to give her the rundown on 'sex' without getting graphic. (Didn't even discuss various body parts.) And her response was an emphatic "YUCK!" And swears she wants nothing to do with boys (or girls) like that. She'll learn later its not that easy. :)
  • Wow - major contest acceptance! 2004-10-14 04:27:25 I just read in the forum that 'Girls' was accepted as a finalist in the comedy division of the AnimeUSA contest. Major score!

Reality check...of the 7 entries, it looks like I am middle-of-the-pack at best. 'Whatever' and 'Yatta' are in this thing too and they are tough. (Sheese, isn't 'Yatta' too old for this?)
