Getting closer
2005-01-10 08:57:36
Ohayocon is right around the corner. Got the play list last night and both Naru-85 and Girls who like Girls made the cut. The director for the AMV contest gave me some props last night after I pointed out a small error in my 'studio' name. I don't know if she does it for everyone or if she really is pulling for me. Still feels good though. It looks like there is only one real threat and maybe one other darkhorse to beat me. I think I can take everyone else. (The real threat is not a real music video and its the 4th part of a mock commercial. Maybe people are getting sick of it by now but I'm not holding my breath...he's got about a 10th of a star rating point advantage on Naru and frankly, his editing skill are better. (Courtesy of fancy-shmancy software.) I think mine is funnier though! Here's hoping for love from the audience :)
Girls has slightly passed Presidents as my most hit video. It had started to pull away on Friday but Presidents got quite a few hits and even another good opinion. (Girls also picked up a really good opinion Saturday.) Right now Girls has about 5 more hits but is 7 downloads short of Presidents. (At one point it was only 3 downloads short.) I really surprised that presidents is still getting love now that the election is over. (Did I already say that in the last entry???)
Daughter dropped a bomb on me Friday night...news so shocking I don't dare even post details here. (yet) We spent most of the weekend running around together...OSU hockey games, laundry and shopping. Momzilla got super pissed last night because we were up late. (Tierney had got to bed about 10p but got up at 11 to ask me a question. Mom happened to come in at that time and went apeshit because Tierney wasn't in bed. She (momasaurus) tried to jump my ass but I wasn't having any of it. She threatened to leave both of us and stomped out to take a walk. I found her in her quiet room sleeping this morning.

My little fangirl

Tierney (my step-daughter) can't wair for Ohayocon. (And neither can I, for that matter.) I think the anticipation for the con is even bigger than our New Years countdown.
We've been on an anime-watching binge lately...spent nearly 3 hours last night watching AMVs, the night before last it was love Hina, and Saturday night it was Hanaukyo Maids. Momzilla thinks we're both nuts. (And thank god she didn't see Hanaukyo Maids after the mild hissy fit she threw after seeing about 2 minutes of Ikki Tousen! Because of several scenes in HM, daughter is WAY too interested in finding out about french kissing!!!)
I did come up with an idea that has pacified the wife a bit though. I'm looking at sending her and a cousin she's really close with to New Orleans for Easter week. Tierney and I are going to slip to either Six Flags Texas or Georgia for the weekend.
Speaking of cousins, another cousin of hers got thrown out of his girlfriend's house and has had to crash at our place. He's pretty cool though and makes himself scarce during the daytime. I actually hope he sticks around awhile. If I do send the wife away I need someone to keep and eye on Tierney during the weekdays while I'm at work.

Music: Jimmy Buffet's Christmas Island
(Song right now - Up on the housetop - a '60s surf version of the classic song)
Well, its almost over and I'm still alive, despite the best efforts of drivers yesterday, my daughter this morning and my wife tonight.
Daughter got from me one of those TV games with 6 built-in disney games and went apeshit...nearly choked me with the bearhug she slapped on me as this was something she's nagged for months that she wanted. (And was one of the things I got for her yesterday while braving the hordes.)
Came upstairs to lie down a bit because my back is killing me...and to get away from the wife's cousins who talk about the dumbest things. (This herd is really like a Jeff Foxworthy skit come to life.) Wife came up and wanted to know if we could 'snuggle' later. <ack!>
I should be nice...the mrs. >did< get me the widescreen version of the Star Wars trilogy I wanted. I also did score (I hope) a brand new copy of 'Magical Shopping Arcade Abenoshi vol 1' off Ebay a little bit ago for 5 bucks.
I gotta get started on a new video...maybe next weekend.

Freakin' Insane!
2004-12-24 16:32:12
Just got back in from last minute grocery and x-mas shopping. I'd rather have my balls pounded flat with a wooden mallet than go out there again. I swear, if assholes could fly, every shopping center would be an airport. Saw no less than 4 fender benders where people got so frustrated trying to get through parking lots they got impatient and darted out without sufficent clearance. Can't wait for the evening news to see if anyone got shot today in a road-rage incident.
City has done a really crappy job plowing/salting the roads in the past 48 hours...even the 2 biggest streets in town are loaded with ice still. (County busted its ass and got the freeways cleared at least.) Side streets are so bad I changed my mind about going to the wife's sister's place to drop off their gifts...and the wife didn't even argue. (Which is a real indicator how bad things were.)
At least we're as done as we're going to be...just finished putting together our daughters new dresser but did not get the wife the new vaccum cleaner I'd hoped to.
Hope everyone has a cool yule.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions!

The night we got back from Florida, we went hunting for a live tree to make the wife happy. We have a perfectly good artificial tree with fiber-optic lights we've used the last two years after our old neighboors managed to set our house on fire and we lost all of our x-mas lights and old tree.
Unfortunatly for the wife, of the 6-7 tree lots we went to, only 2 had trees worth picking up...and those deals fell through when the lots could not help up get the tree wrapped and on the car. (One did not have anything to wrap the tree, the other refused to help get it onto the car.)
Anyways, I gave up on the live tree and put up the fake one and have been quite happy with it. Last night, the wife comes home from church dragging a 10 foot monster...and we have 8 foot ceilings. Daughter tried to tell her it was too big but wife didn't beleive her. (They had some freebies donated to the church. Daughter tried to get her to take a smaller one but Nooooooo...)
First I was pissed because of the extra headache of trying to get that one up and cut down to size plus moving the decorations. We also had to run to Walmart to get new lights since we didn't have any. Wife also insisted on stringing her tacky-as-hell garlands I've kept off the trees...
...but I got to admit, the tree smells good.
