Arrrggghhh!
2005-08-01 13:47:04
Negima is on the rise finally. Again, I didn't expect it to wow people but giving 1s for spite really sucks.
On the other hand, this year's banner (ONE PEOPLE! I ONLY MADE ONE! EVEN CHARLIE CHOMPED THREE FRIGGIN' CANDY BARS BEFORE GETTING A WINNER! }:| )
Sorry about that little rant...I sometimes feel as though the site has turned into Animemusicvideobanners.com
As I was saying, this year's banner tanked big time. Which surprises me that so many people voted for last year's banner. Admittendly, this year's wasn't very good. It was one of those that seemed funnier at the time.
I'm really scared at the moment. A blood vessel inside of my left eye burst Friday and my vision is really poor. I've got a big, black 'tree trunk' surrounded by millions of little dots in my vision. One possible 'cure' is to have all of the fluid drained from my eye, filtered and refilled. YUCK!
...or just give me an eye patch and a parrot.

Projects

Negima crashed hard...I didn't think it was >that< bad. No subs, no stupid logos and I even dropped the title screens. Either the asshole fest is in high gear...guys trashing any video they can, or if it ain't FMA (Fucking Moron Assholes) or something for Narutards, its not flying. (I got a feeling its a bit of both.)
Fuck it. I still like it.
Actually, the wife actually enjoyed it too, usually she's pretty blase' about my videos but she really liked the horror aspect. Daughter didn't like it because of the horror.
3 projects stewing but once again having problems getting motivated. I actually laid scenes for 'Boob Tube', but it just looks too much like 'AMV Hell' for my liking. 'A year in the life of an AMV'er' has started kicking into gear but I really don't know how well it will fly...too many in-jokes and virtually no beat synch. 'Internet Porn' is the most promising, I'm NOT using 'The Internet is for porn' as I think Dax is working on, and I know there is a couple others. Rather, I'm using a song of the same title by Davinci's Notebook that is hilarious.
Girl on Girl on Girl on Girl on Girl on Guy on Sheep.
I need sheep, err, sleep.

Long time no see
2005-07-16 17:23:43
It has been quite a while since I've posted an update here. Disneyland trip was not all it was cracked up to be...we got screwed out of our rental car and any exploring of the area outside of Disneyland was done by Southern California piblic transportation...YUCK!!!! All of us have finally reached Disney burnout and have changed our plans for next year. (Was going to spend a week at WDW. Now we're aiming at Hawaii!)
I'VE MADE A NEW AMV!!!! Its not quite polished yet, but its pretty much complete. Its my first 'serious' action video using negima and 'Time's running out'. Its also my first video where I was not the first to actually publically list a video using a song. I know of at least 4 other versions but this is my take on it. I hope I don't get flamed for it...I'm not going to scream this one from the rooftops. I've got about 5 others on the drawing boards but this one was driving me nuts...the song is so catchy. I'll probably post it tomorrow.
Speaking of on the drawing boards, most of my future projects are real ecchi-fests. :) I better dig out my asbestos jocky shorts.
Happy belated B-Day Dax!

Have been pretty busy lately. Too busy to get anywhere with an AMV. I may try to crank something out this week in time, more or less, to mark an entire year since I made my first AMV. BTW - Mink is still actually doing quite well, gaining almost another tenth of a rating point in the past couple of weeks. Naru became my first to have over 3000 hits just this past week but points have dropped from 3.74 to 3.72 in the past month. The song is falling out of popularity and its beginning to show. I did get two glowing opinions on Naru thoug htan helped boost it a bit in the top 10% sentimental catagory.
Big event is still coming up. Heading to California for Disneyland's 50th anniversary.
Last weekend the daughter and I went to Chicago and then to Indianna Beach amusement park on Sunday. I've got a really bad blister and a swollen foot that is scaring the crap out of my wife. Swelling did seem to go down a bit last night but its also started thobbing a little.
I wanted to scream for another reason earlier this week. I normally HATE to pay in advance for something unless I'm 100% sure nothing is going to go wrong. about 2 weeks ago we got a new hire to finally bring us back up to full strength. Saturday she called off sick (While I was in Chicago) and Monday she was 10 minutes late for work screwing one of the third shifters into staying over. I told her she would have to come in an hort early on Thurdsay to releive the guy who had to stay over on Saturday for her and get back some of her time. (And keep our overtime costs down. I purchased an advance ticket for a theater showing the new Star Wars movie on its IMAX screen for 4pm - right after I would get off work. Thursday 2pm came and the girl didn't show up. I wasn't happy about it but figured she would make it in at 3. At 3 still no sign of her and I let my other guy go home since he'd been stung by her last Saturday. At 3:15 I tried to call her house and found out her phone had been disconnected. UH OH! I called our office and told them of our situation to see if they had a cell phone number for her. I also told our latest Account Manager if she made me miss out on my movie and lost my $8 ticket I wanted her gone from my site IMMEDIATLY!!!
(A little background, I'm an 'Account Supervisor' for a contract security company that has quite a few high profile accounts in Columbus. We're not a 'bottom-feeder' company, We don't start or bid accounts for minumum wage. We pay good money for the best we can get. My job is to handle the day-to-day operations on my site and keep our client happy. In this case, one of the largest insurance providers in the midwest and the #1 most profitable account in our entire district. Over me on the security side is an 'Account Manager' who oversees a number of other sites. I'm on my 3rd account manager in as many weeks. My first one decided it was too much pressure and stepped down after 4 years on the job. They had turned me over to a newly promoted guy I thought I could work with but then decided he was too green to handle things. I then got switched over to a real snake-oil salesman of a manager who even our client does not like. More about this guy later.)
The Account Manager tells me that we can't do that...there is a clearly defined set of rules we have to follow. I told him I wasn't looking to have her fired, just removed from my post and he reiterated that I was stuck with her for the time being. I was really angry and brought out the nuke - I reminded he that the client gave me permission when I took this job that if I felt someone wasn't up to our standards I could request their removal and they would be gone. In the past with other security companies I'd been stuck too many times with 'dead wood' that I couldn't do a thing about and I'll be &^%$#% if I let that happen to me again. (3 years on this job and I've never even had to make that threat until now.) The Account manager was taken pretty aback and sputtered that it wasn't the client's buisness who we had working - and if I interfered with that I'm be the one gone. I repeated my position in full confidence that I would not lose this arguement (I've got a REALLY good working relationship with the client - in this case, a retired Highway Patrol officer who is even more hard nosed than I am.) and let the manger go on to track down our missing girl. About 15 minutes later he called back and said I got my wish. He'd called her cell phone and found her apparently home on the couch. her comment was she'd decided she didn't like the work and she quit....no notice...bye bye.
Well, I was happy to have that part over but was still screwed on my movie which the ticket clearly said NO SUBSITUTIONS, EXCHANGES OR REFUNDS. With nothing to lose, I called the theater and got ahold of the manager. After explaining what had happened, the manger told me that If I gould get in a bit extra early (about 30 minutes fefore showtime) she could let me into the Friday showing at 4pm as it did not look like it would sell out, (She told me if I was trying for any other evening show all weekend - forget it. they were all gone.) I told her Friday's show was perfect and got to go then.

Heya Dax
2005-04-17 20:31:47
'Shiney Metal' was one of yours huh? I voted for it! :) One of the more original (read: funnier) ideas I've seen lately.
(I've actually voted 'yes' for 4 banners today...thats gotta be a record for me.)
Got back from a weekend in Cinci / Paramount's King's Island. Ugh...one of the worst weekends EVER!!!! Campground was closed so we had to pay twice as much for a motel. Plus had to pay the parking fee when we got to the park today. (Campground users save the $10 parking fee.) I usually prefer to go on sundays for smaller crowds. Not today! Freakin' packed to the gills. WDW last Thanksgiving wasn't this bad. PKI last JULY wasn't this bad. Daughter had a meltdown when I finally said enough was enough and headed for the exit.
Latest project bogged down again...lack of motivation. I'm working on something to Bob & Tom's Camel Toe song. Can't decide if I want to use short clips from many anime or buy more Ikki Tousen dvds (have only the 1st right now) and make it a single character profile.
