Just got the new CD by Do Make Say Think. Terrific!
I listen to too much instrumental. Not that I mind, but I find it hard to make AMVs to it, so I'm stuck making them to music I don't like sometimes. Geez, I've done REM songs, I've done Madness songs, I've done Flaming Lips songs. Pop is just easier. The Mum song I did was nearly impossible, and the Sigur Ros one I did was a disaster.
I scraped the 100,000 fireflies/Niea_7 video. It just wasn't working out :(
I'm going on a long trip this weekend with people who are not going to have the same musical taste as me, so no Swan's marathon like last weekend's trip. Porbably J-Pop the whole way. bleh. I'm just not a pop music fan. I have no respect for musicians who don't write their own music. And it really makes me mad when a band does a cover song and makes no signifigant changes to the original version. Low did a brilliant job of making Joy Division's transmission their own. Other bands should take notice.
I'm inspired to pick up my guitar again. I'd hate to just give up on that part of myself. But it has been over a year since I last performed or even practiced, and I can't say I've missed it. - 11 to 0, jerkies 2003-06-19 06:59:41 I'm going to Japan for my anniversary the same weekend as AWA, which is too bad, I guess. I'm trying to decide whether or not to get the VIP package for BAAF. It would cost the wife and I $1500, which includes a hotel room, so it isn't that bad. The guests don't inspire me much tho, maybe if it was Akitaro Daichi again... And not to mention that would be $1500 less to spend in Japan a month later. Maybe I can take in an extra job somewhere.

I'm currently working on my entry for the AWA masters. Experimental may be one description for it, but I _never_ liked that term. It sounds like you threw a bunch of stuff together on a whim, when most music that gets stuck to that label are very complex and planned out. I prefer the term Culture Jamming myself, but what can you do?
I also have to get together my video for the AWA pro, but one video I need isn't going to be released unti 7/2, and even then, only in Japan... Have to get it shipped EMS.
PortConMaine was OK. The con was fun, but Portland was just awful. It's like all the Massholes moved North and got worse. I got to see This is Otakudum there, which I'd avoided because I hate the term Otaku being applied to anime fans, but it was very funny. Also got to see She, The Ultimate Weapon. Yow! Good.
I decided to pick up an issue of Newtype yesterday. It's just awful. Nothing critical in it at all, just ass kissing. And at the opposite end of the spectrum, there's always Comics Journal. I'm tired of the way this world works...
