  • great new anime 2003-08-27 10:44:00 It seems there is some terrific anime coming in right now. I am enomored with Junkers Come Here, The Twelve Kingdoms and Master Keaton. I've already seen Haibane Renmei in Japanese, but I'm looking forward to seeing it with subtitles for the bits I didn't entirely get.

    I have all the Uresei Yatsura TV on DVD, almost all the Ghibli titles on DVD, whether Region 1 or 2. It's a golden age. VHS releases were horrible and laser discs were over-priced. DVD has made it all great. It's the Golden Age. 
  • challenge 2003-08-26 06:16:41 No more pop for me for a bit. After working on yet another song I can't stand (ymca), it's time to get out of the easy pop songs and into the genres I really enjoy. Unfortunatly, most of the songs I listen to are 15 minutes long, don't always have a beat and are usually insturmental...

    I'm currently working on a Lain/Laurie Anderson combo which clocks in at 3:30 minutes. Other projects for this year include Bevis Frond/FLCL, Rex/Ghibli, Iron&Wine/Junkers Come Here, Mountain Goats/Ai Yori Aoshi, Birthday Party/Angel Sanctuary and Will Oldham/Crest of the Stars. And while there's always clammoring for "originality" with song and anime choices, I'm quite certain these will rank upon my least watched titles.

    Oh well, 3 more mornings and I'll be at BAAF. Looking forward to A Tree of Palme. Hopefully splurging for the powerpasses will be worth it. And only a month until the trip to Tokyo! While I'm doubtful that my health will be at it's top, hopefully I can keep it under control. The trip to Tokyo is going to take 21 hours and three different planes. Wheee.

Not a one of you has a right to tell people how to make their videos, and you sure as hell don't have the right to tell anyone NOT to make videos. You do have the rights to your opinions, but that's about it.

    What I see happening is either you're part of a clique, or you're not. And if you're not part of the clique, well then, your videos must suck. Where have I seen this before... Well, aside from high school. Oh yeah, that whole Terrastock and Boss Improv crowd. I quit that shit without ever looking back, and I really don't want to do that here. Luckily, I don't think I have to do that here because I've found it easier to distance myself from the mob rule here and still have an audience, unlike the Boston club scene.

    Do me a favor and prove me wrong by your actions. Please.
