Jeezuz, once again I wonder why I put my work online.
Saw Frida tonight, and I have to say I am seriously pissed off. I am a huge fan of her paintings and know her life story very well, so in my opinion, the movie didn't even need to be made. It was a passionless checklist of her life and focused more on who she slept with rather than her accomplishments. Not unlike the celebrity focus of today. I've only seen two of her paintings in person and both times were akin to a religious experience to me.
Enter the Matrix is a kickass game. -
Finding Nemo

I saw Finding Nemo yesterday. Best movie I've seen this year. I was a little disappointed with Monsters, Inc (just a little), but thsi reaffirmed Pixar as the most original animation studio in North America to me.
After seeing the trailer for The Hulk on the big screen, I've decided to skip it. The special effects look fake and the story seems plain awful. Unless it gets killer reviews, I'll wait for video.
My newest video project is over half-way done. It's a real downer, however, and depressing to work on.

I decided to put Everyone You Know online. Like most of the videos I've made, I imagine people will hate it, but I love it and consider it one of my best. I wasn't going to put it online until Spetember or so, but why not? Remember to keep the hate mail coming, jerkies.
I'm currently working on a song/footage combo that seems real obvious, and according to supersearch has two people saying they will do it in the future. I decided to forge on ahead irregardless.
I got a huge contract in today, and the best news is it's going to take me 2, 3 days tops, while paying my way through most of the summer. So any other job I take is just gravy. If only taxes didn't kill me so much... -
Arjuna

Been spending the week watching all 13 episodes of Arjuna again. It's easily one of my fave series of all time. The music is incredible, the best Yoko Kanno has ever done, Shoji Kawamori's visual style is unparralled by animators (save probably Ghibli), and the story is so layered and complex that I'm going to need a third viewing.
Anyway, where I'm going with this.
I made a video with Arjuna and one of my fave songs by Smog, Chosen One. It's about one of my favorite aspects of the show, the relationship between Arjuna and Tokio and how it's being torn apart. Well, not torn apart, but eroding, becasue he can't keep up with her "riding straight into the sun." After making it, I knew very few people would like it. The song, like all of Smog's music, certainly does not have mainstream appeal and from what I've seen on messageboards many people are dismissing Arjuna as an over-preachy enviormental show.
But I love it. It's a video I watch and think to myself "I did exactly what I set out to do." Give it one or two stars. Send me hate mail. I don't know why I expected anything else in today's faceless, mean-spirited society. But I enjoy making them and I enjoy watching them.
So I'm going to put my videos back up. Or at least some of them. Maybe rotate them. So give 'em one's across the board and tell me I am a "cok sux0ring f4khed" for using mortal kombat for the millionth time. In a hundred years, no one is going to care about AMVs.
