Pretty good week this week! My vid's going to Otakon! I am completely stoked about it! It's beyond awesome to make it to an event that I have faithfully attended for years as a viewer, while wondering if I could make it there myself toward the more recent years. It really has been a true highlight of the con for me every year and definitely will be this time around.
Class last night was a thumbs up! No more pain with my round offs! I can still feel the muscle a little, but it didn't get worse and definitely didn't distract me. And there's even BETTER news! I actually somehow managed an unassisted back handspring out of a round off!! My spotter was there but she and my other classmates assured me that she didn't help me at all! Of course that was the only one I could manage, so I went back to the barrel again to practice. I think that's where I'm going to *really* start to improve.
And it's a 4 day week!! This week gets better and better I tell you!

Lots to talk about...

So, managed to do some assisted back handsprings last week in class. My leg still hurt a bit with the round offs, but this week I've been really good at stretching. Still some residual discomfort, however I feel like it's definitely getting better. At least I wasn't hobbling out last week like 2 weeks ago. Hopefully won't be doing it at all this week either. I just hope the pain isn't too debilating or distracting for me for tomorrow's class. It slows me down :-/.
Last weekend I got my first placing and award ever for a vid at AMA, so that was pretty sweet! It will always be special for me, and who knows? That may be all I ever get, so I'll take what I can :P. I noticed a couple of glitches in the distro version of my video, so I'm working on fixing those.
The con itself was very boring though aside from AMVs, Johnny Yong Bosch, and Eyeshine. They were sweeties as always. I asked them if they would come back to Katsucon and they said that if they get invited, they would love to! I sooooo would love for them to come back. They seriously just brighten up any event. They were only at AMA Saturday, but they were at Katsu all 3 days :P. Don't blame them though since there was nothing to do in that town.
Saw Transformers 2 this weekend. It was just okay. but way little long for me. I was nodding off to sleep a couple of times. The sound also wasn't up as loud as it should have been which is extremely disappointing. It makes a considerable difference in the movie experience. Also, the so called "IMAX" theatre I went to was pretty phail. Video quality was good but...I have HDTV and could enjoy that fine enough at home lol . Definitely not worth the extra money since that screen size was the screen size of another theatre I go to regularly. That and the fact that the ONLY preview we got was for Harry Potter. So yeah, it's still Star Trek and Up for me for best movies so far. Hopefully Public Enemies will be right up there too.
I also attended the Final Fantasy: Distant Worlds symphony this weekend. It was a very good concert. They played my fave which was the FFX Ending Theme, but I prefer the arrangement on the CD to be honest. The encore was One Winged Angel, which wasn't a surprise to anyone, but well done though of course ~_^. Though honestly, while I enjoyed that concert, I still think Eminence is my favorite symphony orchestra since they do video game music of all kinds (including OWA). That's still the most fun on a Sunday I've ever had at Otakon (was back in '07).

Are you friggin' kidding me? A "race car" crash? Could they BE any less creative?! Wasn't the SECOND movie (the actual GOOD one of this series) about a massive car crash pile up? C'MOOOOON!!
In other news. My leg's feeling somewhat better. Hopefully by Tuesday it will be ready to whip around for those roundoffs and cartwheels.
Going to AMA this weekend. AMV's in the finals so fingers are crossed it goes well. Also Johnny Yong Bosch will be there which is doubly awesome!!
Meeting with our realtor tonight. Here's hoping we can figure something out about home buying!! I'm definitely ready for my own digs. It's just that whole Japan thing that I still haven't decided on yet...

No pain no gain, right? Gymnastics would have been fun if it weren't for the utter PAIN I suffered. My poor groin >_> (right inner thigh). The instructor says it probably was the straddle split that did it. I can do full splits the other ways so those didn't bother me and actually felt really good. Luckily I'm ahead of the curve so I wasn't too far behind. I did some of the moves but by golly I didn't do them a lot. I was hobbling out of the gym to my car and someone driving out asked if I hurt myself. I said "a little" and then he said he hopes that I feel better. Took a long hot shower and it definitely helped. Instructor told me to stretch stretch and stretch to make it go away faster. I stretched a lot at home last night and will today in my office with my door closed :P. I wasn't hobbling this morning, but some pain is still there. I could do moves through pain at this level, but so long as it doesn't cause additional pain to not rest it.

Had loads of fun last night at gymnastics. I love that they allow you to go at your own level. I was hoping that we wouldn't be stuck at only round offs at best. We were doing those in the first night! And they started training us for back handsprings. That's what *I* want to get back. I can still do a decent front handspring though. Nevertheless, at the rate they are going, I could be doing a back tuck in no time! I wasn't sweating as much as the others, but I took the lead a lot for the moves. I'm glad to be back stretching. It hurts and boy am I sore this morning, but it hurts good so I'm glad. I'm naturally flexible than your average person, but the key is to KEEP that flexibility. The trampoline was the best part though :). My only harp is that it's only once a week. I would love 2x a week. All was groovy until we had to do the conditioning at the end. My back is very flexible so that back exercises were easy. It's just the front and core stuff.
