I can say "I was there" on 1/20/09
2009-01-20 18:56:41
It was indeed an amazing experience. I'm really glad I bit the bullet and just came. I figure, if people can trek from across the country, even the *world*, I can hop my behind on the train and go for it too. The train ride was only one hour to get there, and then we left right after the ceremony so the subway was clear. Hells if I was staying any later though.
I've never seen such a spectacle. The amount of people was incredible. I'm not sure I will ever see something like that again. The atmosphere was really surreal. Everyone was just so happy and hopeful. My fear was that people would be douche bags, but quite the contrary. We were all just so happy and peaceful. That's the type of humanity I can deal with. One lady collapsed and everyone came over to see that she was okay instead of just trampling her and moving on. I saw a lot of tears too, happy tears of course.
And yes, it was pretty cold. It really helped that we were walking a lot, but once we got situated on the mall, the concrete was cold so naturally my feet slowly started to feel like they'd fall off. *sigh* what and amazing and historic day.

Breathe In...Breathe Out

It'll be oooookay. ~_~
4-day weekend though. Not gonna complain about that one. Part of me knows it'd be a stupid idea to be in DC on the 20th...but I'm right here!! And maybe so many friggin people will be there that we'll all keep each other warm from 15 degree weather.
No editing tonight. Didn't feels like it.

It just occurred to me that we will have a 4-day weekend next week!!!! Monday's MLK day and Tuesday is Inauguration Day!!! At least *my* ass won't be trying to work along Pennsylvania Ave with 4 million people lining the streets!!! So what shall I be doing all of this time? Editing >_>...and maybe a little cosplay since Katsu's looming ever so close...
BTW, Fable II? BAAAAAAAD!!! It's worse than crack...

Totally contemplating skipping lunch today to leave at 4.
In other news, my cat has actually been behaving himself more or less!! No knocking over the tree or chewing on the lights or anything! He nibbled at the branches before for a bit, but all in all he's been a good boy!!

Okay, so now to wonder...

I walked in to work this morning and it was like a ghost town >_>. The lights to my office were off even. Pennsylvania Ave has like nobody on the streets. Gonna be one heck of a difference Inauguration Day I betcha (though you won't see me anywhere NEAR this city).
Onto better news. I finally got my tree up! You cat owners must understand why I waited so late. Last year I learned the hard way catching my cat half way up a 6'10 tree batting at the bulbs and chewing on the "leaves". I took the tree out last night and he immediately went to town, my disciplining techniques be damned. I will decorate accordingly when I get home (still not sure when since they haven't decided how early to shut the office down yet).
White Pines are my favorite trees (the needles rock). One year when I was a kid, my dad brought home the *perfect* tree and it was white pine (though I didn't know it then). Since then we have yet to have that perfect tree. We (I) will aim for it next year.
