I just did a forum search on my video announcements. I've been a member of the org for just over a year, and here are the results...

The first one that really got commented on was my Fruits Basket vid: 12 comments/234 views.
ALL of these were in WMV format. In fact, my first AVI was my Bleach vid, and I was so happy with the results, I reconverted many of my WMV files and reuploaded them as avi.
The most comments I received in the forums was on this last one, and a lot of those were just silly arguments about the same thing you are bringing up here. Usually I don't get more than 15 comments. Most of the well-known editors totally smoke that, and with good reason. They are popular because they are amazing editors that put out great videos consistently.
I personally don't care about format. My top 2 video is WMM edited, and just an incredible piece of work. I think I have quite a few WMV vids in my top 100.
I enjoy the comments in the forums, and I bet the more you comment on other's vids and leave ops (which you are very good at already), you will start getting the kinds of replies you want to see.
