It's not really a matter of $$ and re-downloading a series. You can find some awesome freeware editors that allow you to crop out fansubs, so your video has a more polished look... I think (IMO) that if you take the extra little effort to crop out the subs, your video will be even better, and look like you cared enough about it to make it look its best.
Check the forums for links to some of these editors. I can pm you some links as well, if you want.
We are all learning here...
