I have adult-onset ADD.
I start a project, then I find something else that would make a good project, so I start that one, too. I start to pull things together, and realize that there is another project that I began last month that hasn't been touched, so I fiddle with that a little to assuage the guilt feelings.
I put something down two minutes ago, and now can't locate it, so I try to locate it, and forget about projects 1, 2 and 3 all together.
I come back eventually, giving up hope on finding the lost item.
I begin on project #3, much to the dismay of projects 1 and 2.
I get a call about project #4, which has been neglected because of preceeding projects and a lost item that I STILL can't find.
Project #4 is now the top priority, and in working on it, I realize that there is yet another project lurking in the back of my mind. I try to repress it.
Shuffling papers, I find my lost item that I had given up on, and no longer need.
I begin to work again on project #2, and lose all track of time. (The joys of being right-brained!)
Suddenly, the family is home without my noticing, and I have to close all projects that have been neglected or barely touched, so I can go do family things.
Lost the item again. Now that I need it. I had put it in a safe place where I wouldn't lose it again, so it is lost forever. I'll find it when I move again, and say, "So THAT'S where it was!"
HOW do I get things done?
Hell if I know, but it happens.
Adult ADD. Yeah. It's real.
And there's nothing you can do about it.
