Lessee.... Here's my wandering order:
California, NC, KS, MO, NC, AZ, NC, WA, Finland (Kerava, Oulu, Vaasa, Helsinki), NC, VA, NC, UT, WY, NC and now TX. Whew! So I guess I'm a Southern girl at heart. At least I have friends all over the country I can mooch... er... stay with when I travel!
Never been to HI, tho. Looking forward to doing that someday.

Oh, the places I've been! ;o) 10 states, (not including the 6 times I moved back to the same state) and a couple of years overseas.
Whiteash and Jaddzia - so, you prefer Coke or Pepsi?

Southern Pluralization
2005-10-25 18:57:33
Sub0,
I have lived all over (including Kansas) and there are different ways of using y'all....
Here in Texas, the plural is 'all y'all', while when I was in NC, it was just y'all. In AZ, it was youse (as in youse guys) and in WA, we called people guysers.
Same thing with 'pop', 'soda', etc. I grew up calling carbonated beverages 'pepsis', and was corrected every time I moved (and I have moved a LOT - 13 schools by the time I graduated HS, and I have moved a lot since then). Sometimes it's 'coke', sometimes 'pop' or 'soda' or a combination of the latter as in 'soda pop'.
I also still say 'mash' instead of 'push' sometimes, and don't get me talking about grits and collards, or the accent comes out.
Just felt like rambling about US dialects.
Oh. I want a Dew. Not a Fanta. ;o)

Jaddzia - Yeah. They ARE scary - don't want to be in a line at a con when the Furuba merchandise goes on sale. THAT was actually funny and terrifying at once. Luckily I purchased my Kyou plushie early in the day. ^^
Judge - How did I know? hmmmmm..... That will be my secret. heh heh heh
