Matt - Conventions are held all over the place! The one I went to today was in Houston, but I bet there are plenty near to you.
Usually you don't need to attend a convention to enter the AMV contest, but check the rules to be sure.

Came home early from the con... The AMVs aren't showing until 10pm tonight, so I can't make it. I will be in IC mode... Oh well.
BUT, the con was fun, and I have a message for buma and Rina from Vic... O.O
Rina - they had Kaleido 3 there. But I didn't want to pay $30 for a single DVD. I will wait for the slimpacks. heh heh heh
