  • Um, yeah 2009-01-24 16:31:29 Sorry about my ramble/rant last night. As I said, I was a bit drunk. .. um, yeah. Anyway, we all have our little peeves. (And I wasn't suggesting mine was an old timer thing. Just a personal problem adjusting. ;P) We all have our personal styles. That's what makes things interesting. And yes, I'd still work just as hard if the number of votes wasn't shown. I mean, we still have to earn that 'Pass'. ;) Personally, as long as it gets worthy, I don't care how many votes it gets. Really the only time I get giddy about vote count is if it gets over 120. But yeah, like people said, 150 is impossible, unless we took 150 hostages. Anyway, I think I've had enough banner talk for now. If I start rambling/ranting about banners again, someone please slap me. -_-

    Um. . .yeah. . ./rant. . .or something. >.> I subscribe to the Robert's Anime Corner Store newletter, and I have seen them announce at least 2 Tessa figures, and a Kaname or so. And then I saw the announcement for the new Fumoffu figure set. . .AND THEY WERE ALL FEMALE!!!!! I don't know if I even recognized all the characters. . .and I'm a big FMP fan! I mean seriously. Sousuke? That character that shows up in more or less every episode of FMP? No love for him? With it being Fumoffu, Bonta-kun would have even been ok. But no. :S And if they have to be female, I would still be happy with a SGM Mao figure. But no! :S It's stuff like this that really makes me want to get into figure making. So I can make my own bishie figures, since it seems not many want to do them. -_-

    Ok, maybe I should explain my A-M-V.org on banner peeve. I started making banners before that was allowed. You had to spell out the full site name, and it had to be more or less readable. Which meant a little extra work and planning to get it to fit and look right. Now that they allow 'A-M-V.org', idk, whenever I see it, it just irks me. It just looks lazy. Like the creator is either too lazy to type it out or doesn't want to put the extra work and planning into typing the full name out and making it fit. Which may or may not be the case. But I always take the extra time and trouble to put the whole name in, so I guess, in a way, I just expect everyone else to do the same. *shrug* Idk. Maybe I'm just old skool. *shakes cane* Damn Kids! Get off my lawn! :P At any rate, I put that in with quality. If I really like the banner, and it uses A-M-V.org instead of the full name, I will still vote it worthy. If I'm on the border about the banner, that's part of the deciding factor.

    To clarify voting for me. Quality is not the only factor. Concept/execution is also a factor. If a banner has a decent concept, but terrible quality and execution, it will be unworthy. If a banner is completely unorginal, or just has a terrible concept, makes no sense, or has nothing whatsoever to do with the site, but is still decently done with good quality, I will still vote it unworthy. Unless it just looks that cool. What I vote worthy: Good, somewhat original concept (or a decent or somewhat original take on a frequently used concept), good execution of said conept, and decent quality. If the person over-excels at one of the first 2, I will generally overlook the others.

    Anyway, I'm glad people like my banners. Though, I know, they're not for everyone. And while I try not to make it my sole purpose for making banners, I am proud to be on the top banner maker list. Particularly where I am. Do I deserve to be there? Maybe, maybe not. I don't pretend to be even half as good as a lot of other banner makers, particularly some of the ones farther down the list. . or even not on it at all. But I'm still proud to be there. But getting farther up the list is not the reason I want to make them. And whenever I find it to be my reason, I generally will stop making them. Kikai can tell you. She's been there and has heard a lot of my talk about making banners. She is the other Wurgano member. She has heard some of my rants, she has also been the one to hear me talk numbers, then go on hiatus. (Well, her and Immorrel, since he has to live with me and all. So he still gets to hear it. :P)

    On style, everyone has their particular style. That's what makes things interesting. Does everyone's style appeal to everyone? No. But even so, they say variety is the spice of life, and everyone adds their own flavor. My style? Well, again with the whole old fashioned thing. I like to do clean, plain even, with the main focus on the message. In my mind, the text is art too, possibly even the most important part of my banners. Even though I usually choose the picture first, then think of the text, I still feel the pic is just there to embellish the message. Which is why my banners will generally have plain backgrounds with interestingly fonted text. I actually go to a lot of trouble to find just the right font to properly represent the text and the general look/feel of the banner. I admit, I've done my fair share of 'OOOO!!!! PRETTY!!!!' banners. (Quite literally, once: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/_media/sitebanners/amvnewhkoooprettyfixed.jpg ), and I have no problem with them, but I just prefer making the plainer, message/text oriented banners. I blame Kikai, since, before we even became friends, I had fallen in love with her similarly styled banners. *^_^* *hugs Kikai*

    @ Nya *hugs* Same here with yours. It seems a lot of the ones I overlook for the A-M-V.org thing are yours. Granted I don't like everything you do (and then my peeve :P), but you have a lot of original ideas. So, I'm also about half and half on your stuff. But, even if I don't like everything, you do have my respect as a banner maker. And, as it has been stated, everyone is entitled to their opinion. *^_^*

  • YAY!!!! 2009-01-23 05:56:37 Almost done w/ banner #1 of the "actual" banners for Valentines. I just need to add a couple more frames in to make it look right. *^_^* There will be 4 total, and if all goes well, I hope to release 1 a week until the MEP comes out. (With the last one being released the day/night before the vid release.) Also almost done with my calendar. (I couldn't find one I liked, so I'm making a Sukisyo one. XD ) I have all the pages done, I just need to cut and paste the sides around so they're laid out properly when everything is put together, then fun paper cutting and printing time. -_-

    .Org banner discussion: I see it as both. Yes, it should be fun. And I think if someone comes up with an idea that cool, I'm willing to let quality slide. But the banners are something that will be representing the site and things people will have to look at regularly, so I think quality should play some part. The yaoi banner, well, yes it is yummy. But, alas, I couldn't vote for it. As nice as random yaoi is, it wasn't quite enough for me to put quality aside. (Not to mention banners that have 'A-M-V.org' instead of the full name are a bit of a pet peeve of mine. >.>) Idk, part of the reason I slowed down on the banner making was because it became more srs business than fun for me. Numbers began to mean more than making something cool to represent the site. So yeah, not as many banners from wurpess anymore. :P (Though I might make some again at some point. *^_^*)

    Yay, got my shiny title from mod formerly known as Santa Doki! *^_^* There were so many other ones I was thinking about getting (*SQUEEEEE!*, *Glomp*tastic, *^_^*, Yaoi Fangirl, Doki Fangirl, Loves Teh Bishies, etc), but Rabid Fangirl just seemed to encompass all of them. YAY!

    Well, went looking around at calendars. There were a few I was thinking about (InuYasha, Harry Potter, Michael Phelps, then they had the Chippendale calendar at the mall. :D). But I'm just going to make my own. And I'm doing it with Sukisyo CGs! (Thank you to Ingow for reminding me I had them and making me look for them. *^_^* *hugs*) Last night I went through them all, and picked out the ones I'm going to use. And now Rafe wants me to do one for him while I'm at it. (Well, not a Sukisyo one, obviously. I'd be doing his with his choice of pics, but yeah. :P) So I managed to find the right paper for it and just ordered that. Now to go find an online 2009 calendar so I can start working on page layouts. WHEEEEE! *^_^*

    Well, Christmas and New Years were pretty quiet. I already talked about Christmas. New years, we just drank, played the new 2 player Spyro on XBox360, played some Scrabble, I made brownies, watched the ball drop, etc. Pretty quiet. Though I still haven't cleaned, so the apt is an absolute disaster. -_- Tomorrow is going to be fun. :S

    Got the 'Nightmare Revisted' CD last night! (Remakes of the Nightmare Before Christmas songs.) It's great! This is Halloween, Kidnap the Sandy Claws, and Making Christmas are my favorites. :D
