- W00t-age! 2008-08-02 04:26:30 Got both pairs of pants, both sashes, and both jackets (minus the frogs) done on me and Rafe's Ranma cosplays. Now all I have left is putting the frogs on and doing the wrist and ankle bands. (Which is not hard at all, since I just got really wide pieces of black elastic for them. I already have them measured, so I just have to sew the ends together.) After the frogs and bands, I just need to braid the wigs, and that's it. (Which is good, since Otakon is less than a week away, and I'll only have Rafe for fittings til Sunday or Monday, and Thursday if I'm desperate. But I would like to just have everything done so I can just go to pre-reg/dinner and not worry about it.) So yeah. Happiness. Then I just need to work up enough motivation (and courage) to open up my contest vid so I can get it ready to release on the org. -_- (Yeah, so much drama trying to get that vid ready to submit, and I still don't like it, so for the most part, aside from the thrill of seeing it on the big screen at the contest (at least I hope I'll be thrilled, and not cringing), I never want to see that vid again. :S) I guess the sooner I deal with it, the sooner I can make with the 'not seeing ever again' thing. Anyway. YAYNESS!!!! *^_^*
- *SQUEEE!!!* *sigh of relief* 2008-07-31 02:46:03 So, both my sewing machine and the spirit of sewing decided they had a grudge against one of the jackets for me and Rafe's Ranma cosplay. (The one went together perfectly and beautifully, the other one. . .not so much. 0.o) So yeah, finally, after much laboring and cursing, it's done! (minus the frogs) It doesn't look nearly as good as the other one, but eh, its at least done. It's not like I'm competing in the cosplay contest or anything. (And probably never will. The cosplay people kinda scare me. @_@) I just cosplay for fun. But anyway, joy and jubilation!! Now onto the pants, then the accessories. YAY!! *^_^*
- YAY!!! 2008-07-30 05:03:41 I got one of the jackets done for me and Rafe's Otakon cosplay. (Well, minus the frogs. But I'm going to put them on once I finish both. Or at least once Rafe's awake/around so I can measure on him about how much closure is needed on the jacket. (Since I'm fitting them both to him a) to get a fit true to the anime (boy Ranma's clothes fitting more or less perfectly while girl Ranma's clothes are a bit baggy, you know, since they're boy Ranma's clothes. >.>) and b) because it's a lot simpler that way. ) But yeah, right now the jacket I have left to finish is the one I keep putting the lining in wrong for. I had just gotten tired and decided to start the other one so that I could use my "better" method for lining it. (And obviously, it was much quicker and easier, since that's the jacket that's done. :P) So yeah, I just need to take the lining back out of the one (again), put it back together correctly, and that one will be done. Then, once I get the frogs on them both, it's all downhill from there. *^_^* Just need to sew the pants, sashes, and the wrist/ankle bands. Then braid/trim the wigs, and we're all ready to go. (Well, that and check my make-up to see what violent shade of eye-shadow I should be wearing. I'll have to double check to see what color(s) she wears, since I can't remember off the top of my head.) YAY!!!! *^_^*

Cosplay shoes came in today. (Ordered black kung-fu slippers for me and Rafe's Ranma cosplay.) Apparently my feet are two different heights. The left one fits perfectly, but the right one is slightly loose across the top. But nothing too bad. Still comfy, though. (Of course, I would hope so, if they're martial arts shoes. :P And that was part of the reason we chose Ranma. He/she wears comfy shoes. ;) ) Hopefully Rafe's will fit ok. Hopefully, tonight, I can actually get the jackets sewn. . . correctly. :S

Like the whole mock-up thing for the logos. Two of mine had made it. (which surprised the hell out of me. Last year, none of mine made it.) Luckily, the favorite of mine that I had done made it to the next round. (I had done 4 total. And my 1st favorite and my 3rd favorite made it.) One of my favorites from last round (not by me) also made it. And then, after seeing the mock-ups, there was another that I wasn't thrilled with last round that, I have to say, looks very cool on the top of the page. So I was torn between which of the 3 to vote for. (I normally don't even consider voting for my own stuff in stuff like this. Of course, I normally don't really like my own stuff. But I'm just REALLY happy with the way the one logo came out. Though after seeing the mock-up, I think it would look better on the main page if I enlarged some of the text a bit. If it gets chosen, I wonder if they'd let me change it. :S) Anyway, some cool logos up for vote, so I'm sure whatever gets chosen will be cool. I might even start making banners again. :P

Otakon coming up in about a week and a half. *^_^* (Wait. . .ack! need to finish costumes! @.o And get contest AMV ready to release on the .org on the 9th/10th) Anyway, really excited. I had so much fun last year. And excited to being part of the AMV contest getting the passes for the special seating at it. (Not that I had bad seats last year, when I wasn't in it, but still. . .no line waiting. . . and just that feeling of specialness. *^_^*) Apparently I get three, which means I'll have an extra. Have a couple ideas on who to give the third to, but we'll see when the time comes. Thursday dinner plans still in the air. Saturday plans seem to be in order though. And I might have to get a Youtube acct afterall. Since my digital camera has a video camera. . . and there's supposed to be Caramelldansen-ness going on at various points. *^_^* WHEEEEE!!!!! Anyhow.

Another reason I need to finish cosplay, so I can concentrate on finishing Bounce for SOAD2 and work on my GothikII vid, and possibly do Cigaro for SOAD2, if no one already has by the time I get the footage and time to do it. Heck, I might even try to get another vid out. (I have many unfinished vids sitting here that were abandoned Otakon vids that would still be cool, I just knew I couldn't finish them in time for Otakon.) Who knows.

I need to pee. I should probably go do that. - I'm about to throw this cosplay jacket out the window. :S 2008-07-28 04:12:05 Working on the cosplay costumes for Otakon. So, working on Jacket #1. Yeah, turns out Rafe's arms/shoulders are bigger than the average Chinese person. So the sleeves that were supposed to go on that size jacket were too small. And when I tried to modify it, it got all fucked up. So I did a new jacket, now with (much) bigger sleeves. That worked better. I originally wasn't going to line it, but the material wound up being too thin. Ok, that's fine. I have extra fabric. Well, one should always read the instructions 1st. And I wound up sewing the lining in wrong. So I got frustrated, put it down and drank instead. So today, I got out the trusty seam ripper that Rafe found for me and took the lining out. Now take 2, this time reading the instructions 1st and being more careful. Then my bobbin thread ran out. (I fucking hate changing that out. :S) Though it is kinda lucky it did. Turns out I wasn't paying attention when I pinned it together, and I put the wrong sides together. So I was once again in the process of sewing it in wrong. *facepalm* Well, I think I did come up with a better way to line it, but I wouldn't be able to do it on this one unless I took it all apart. So, frustrated with the one jacket, I decided to start on the other one. Maybe some sort of progress will make me feel better. Only now I'm too tired. *sigh* And I can't work on it tomorrow because me and Rafe's bowling league is tomorrow. (today? O.o) Oh well, there's still all next week. Which should make Rafe happy because he's engrossed in yet ANOTHER game, and so now he won't have to worry about me bothering him, except for fittings. *sigh* I can't wait til this thing is done. At least once the jackets are done, that's most of the difficulty and angst out of the way right there. On a happier note, 2 of my logos made it to next round. *^_^*
