Just now figured out that the Animatrix is also available in Japanese...I should have expected that, but it's still pretty cool. Gives me something to practice my listening skills on.
Video status: Mostly dead. The last 30 seconds of a video is always, _always_ the most difficult part...it's what makes or breaks a project.
Well, that's not quite true. I have had the last 15 seconds mentally storyboarded frame-by-frame for the past two weeks now. It's the FIRST 15 seconds that I don't know what the hell to do with.
I hope that I can pull this off by the 16th.

yes, one frame in this project now takes 40 seconds to render, because of my obsession with camera motion and color theory. I suck. -

Turns out I probably don't have a faulty hard drive after all. Actually, my second 256MB DIMM was bad. (Godfuckingdamnit, Kingston.)
Running with 384 MB now, but at least the system feels a hell of a lot more stable... -

So I'm rebuilding my Gentoo editing workstation, and it turns out it has a bad drive. Thankfully, the editing drive is still intact, but it looks like my good old Maxtor is reaching the end of its life.
Oh well. Need to save $...
So, to pass the time while the compiles fly by on my screen, I hopped onto an old favorite IRC channel (I've been a regular for the past, uh, three years :P) and, as happens at around 2:26 AM (EST), the weirdest things happen...
