SH100 is done. I've also got the appropriate text done for video and release entry, but of course there's going to be no time to update; we're going to 3 shifts effective almost immediately, and I'm on the 22-06. In a way this is good; I don't ever have to worry about shopping or stuff, but I still have to get into daysleeping again.

Oh well. Fullscale blast tyrant mode; only till the 31st. Too bad I don't have time to do an exhaustion reset.

It's going to be a long workday today, and the video still has about a minute left on it, but hopefully I'll be able to finish it off right. Despite the high volume of source on hand, I may end up with a shortfall forcing postponement -- but on the other hand that would allow the involvement of seven other sources beyond the 115 already cut. We'll see when we get there.

In other news, the AWA rules are out, and not much different from last year (where I did not enter). The deadline will allow sufficient time for anything from SH101 to SH103 to go to Pro, even accounting for the delays in international mailing. We'll have to see how these vids shake out before the entrant is decided. SH103 (as currently plotted) will probably be sent to Expo regardless.

Transatlantic FTP: It's Still Not Fucking Done Yet. And there's another huge part of the release after this one, which started 40 minutes ago. This is totally unnecessary; nobody ever uses this pipe, so they could de facto pay per bandwidth, and Distribution somehow manages to push similar giant files off servers in bloody Japan at similar rates. On a normal day, I'm still crawling through Neustadt traffic right now; ideally, I'd be over at the fab rebuilding a simulator. Oh well.

SH100 is nearly ready to go, which is more than can be said about the machine. I may need to say clear of DW and Yuxi for a while..........though it's in no way my fault, it's the damn hardware that's having the problems. I just needed one little bit of info, which I picked up from the .org today -- something somewhat shocking, when you think about it.

I should be working on the next project, SH101, in the near future. However, I'll use the slack time to catch up on pictures from Germany and writing back to people; my spare time's pretty limited around work, for now, and it's difficult to do both that and AMV on any kind of stringent pace. Once work slows down (for good reasons, like the machine is fine and doesn't require babying), I'll probably be able to work both in, but for now it's one or the other.

Monarchs won Saturday, in front of about 2000 people sitting in the rain for a preseason game of a minor-league sport (Dresden is in the 1.Bundesliga of the GFL, but there's still the NFL Europe above it even in Germany). I can't even begin to imagine how crazy and loud Harbig-Stadion gets when Dynamo is playing a game that matters; all Michiganders should come here for an object lesson in how to support your football team.

Should be able to do some more work tonight, and maybe on the weekend as well. It's going to get a little dicey managing diskspace, but hopefully I'll be able to reduce weight on the fly while editing. Of course, this is probably batshit insane, but if I don't edit the video all in one go (or, alternately "don't use the editing style that has pretty much defined who I am for 100+ videos") it gets a little more possible. I have to buy more food, and of course go to work as well, but it's still eminently likely that it'll get closer to done, and stay on schedule for the current deadline.

If I can get a significant portion of the weekend off, I'm probably going to be stomping around Neustadt looking for a worthwhile record store. The Rock Hard bundle-CD is getting old, and if I'm in bloody Germany and not buying cult metal records, there's something terribly, terribly wrong. Maybe source for new videos.....but adventures in PAL will be waiting a while.

I did the timing and some rough storyboarding last night, and will probably try to get those first 10 tuned and clipped tonight. Of course, that's not 10 eps, but 10 of something else, so it'll probably go somewhat faster. As mentioned, there is a sort of deadline on this, even though it's only got odometer and pace significance, and we're really at the level of background noise now. The four-year statistic is going to be around 25 VPY whether I get this video done on the dot or not.

And after 100..........well, this is the first time in my career that I've had to put serious thought into "what happens after SH100". Of course, the odometer rolls, and I may see about doing a one-day clearinghouse of junk vids that I'm not planning to get hosted long-term, but after that, it's back to business as usual, with another significant digit in place, and a little closer to that impossibly far-off day when I have to rebalance the designator.

The next project after this one is going to be a longer video that will probably go to Connichi and AWA (if I can figure out the postal system here). A little serious, a little quirky, and pushing hard on 6 minutes long. That may or may not get started imminently, but will probably not be out before mid- to late June. So much hangs on work, and on the results of that for video pace.....
