you think the truth will set you free

Videos SH014, SH015, SH016, SH024, and SH025 are online right now, as bitter fruits of a day spent driving in circles on no sleep and attempting to nap while they were cleaning the carpets next door. I have off tonight and may work on the videos if I don't want to go in -- and may come in anyways and spent 5 or 6 hours grinding Ran. Tomorrow I go back on schedule.
This is about halfway through the demo-videos bloc, and while they aren't very good, they're at least out there. Once these are done, I'll probably put #17 on local (maybe after I watch it again....) and definitely delete the link on #48. After that, it's mass entry rewriting time.
I can't believe it's only Wednesday -- or that it's already going to be Thursday tomorrow. It's probably just that I'm losing track of what day it is; nothing major.

burn the world on a funeral pyre
2005-11-08 17:40:44
Contradiction: Tonight I cut two Initial D eps, AND got 2 more levels in Ran. How could this happen? Besides by waking up early, finding out I'm only on call, and will have to work tomorrow during the day, I mean. RRRGGH.
SH105/106:
- Source rip: 16/36 (~complete)
- Music: complete
- Precleaning: complete
- Storyboard/planning: next to none
- Clipping: 12/36
- Edit: none
- Postproc: none
- Export: none
With this, DVD 3/8 is complete and off my damn harddrive. I can accomodate 19 more vobs (of the 20 left unloaded) at equal-exchange, then I have to start doing stuff like moving my music files (which I barely ever listen to anymore anyways, now that I'm either at AMD or on the Mystic Peak campus all shift) off to the external drive. That buys me the room to make betas. Wonderful. Given that the vob->yield ratio is about 4:3, I will barely, barely, barely have enough system space to make the first video -- but must then burn it off immediately to have room to make the second.
I'm considering hosting the 11 BAS demo videos on megaupload.com as well as the files that are currently there; this will put all SH videos except #48 (porn) and #90 (gruesome death and worse porn) online on a semipermanent basis. Of course, this is a time-consuming and Ran-blocking endeavor that will also necessitate rewriting the description entries to a significant degree....maybe something I do while I'm at AMD, and unable to log in.
I haven't signed my life over to game developers in Malaysia. Honest.

Why I Didn't Work On My AMV Projects Over The Weekend Or While The Server Was Down
----
1) Hole of Fame
2) Ran Online
3) Machine Fucking Broke
1) Hole of Fame
-
Hole of Fame is a store in Dresden. They sell manga and overpriced anime. The manga, though, is in German, which I can't read at the 15 min/volume pace that I go through English translations at. It's more like 45 minutes, especially for something talky and full of slang like Gals!. I got 2 of this and 2 of Gash Bell Saturday morning, and it planked a large hole in the weekend.
2) Ran Online
-
Ran Online is a MMO from Malaysia that's in beta. If I wasn't uploading #11 and #23 to the local server, I'd probably be playing it right now. The concept of inter-school gand warfare is fairly fresh for a MMO, even though it gets a bit grindy at times. But the grinding, at least for my chara, involves hitting punks in the head with a nailbat and chowing down on bread to gain hp back. If the sp buff was cold canned coffee instead of Mountain Dew, it'd be a little too uncomfortably much like real life. As it is it's fun.
3) Machine Fucking Broke
-
The machine is in a cleanroom at AMD Dresden, which is not actually in Dresden. It's on the line between Wilschdorf and Boxdorf, unlike our office, and my rig, which is in Klotsche, almost into Weixdorf. Notice that there are four towns involved here; I can't really be in the one place editing video while I'm in the other fixing up DIs.
And besides, even if the machine didn't break, I'd probably just be playing Ran anyway. At any rate, #11 is going up right now and #23 will be along in a bit. Hopefully, I'll get home early enough to cut a vob or two (I'm on the tail end of a DVD) before I go to bed, then make this a standing practice for the mornings. I keep telling myself I should be working on these, but......

lost in my eternal maze
2005-11-04 23:54:02
Now just waiting on the deletion request, and I'll be able to have #11 and #23 on the local server. I could put up #23 in its proper place right now, but I'd rather do it all at once.
In totally unrelated news, the weekends are now the big hope for video editing. Rakion kind of sucks (since it won't allow meaningful solo when there's nobody else on), but Ran is pretty damn cool, and will be even better once I learn how to use inventory items. Bye bye spare time....at least until I get the gear I've ordered to finish my jacket with, and have to alternate between beating the crap out of enemy students and bolting studs onto shoulder spans.
I will, though, make a best effort to get at least the 6 remaining HDD eps cut up by the end of "Sunday" (which will be well into Monday morning, but what the hell). I should be closing in on enough source, but until I storyboard the videos -- something I'm going to have to do, probably also this weekend, even though I almost never do it in normal practice -- I won't know for sure.

SH045, SH071, SH073, SH083, SH096, and SH101 are all back online now and will hopefully stay this way for a while. If a video generates no traffic, can it be considered hosted? Only if it's #90, which is why that one is staying unavailable.
If Ran and Rakion both suck, and nothing breaks on the machine, I could be chopping eps as early as tomorrow. More likely, it'll just be another long weekend, and hopefully get up through what's on disc and into a new DVD. I've wasted too much damn time on these projects.
