narrow-bandwidth irony

I saw this today (more or less by accident), and it's too ironic not to point out.

If you don't get why this might induce a sick chuckle, it's probably a positive. The sooner this meme dies out the better, but those fortunately-few of us who've already had our minds warped can't really do anything about it.

when she's through

The reuploading of nine videos that had aged out is about half done, and will complete probably in the next hour. I didn't work much on #107 over the weekend, so it is probably going to end up pushing out past the Otakon deadline; I'm planning to finish moving over the start of this week, and the video would need to be in the mail by Saturday to make their postal deadline. This is not a project that can or should be rushed, so if I don't make that deadline, it'll just go out to any cons with deadlines after it wraps, and then serve as backup for Connichi.

SH107:
- Source rip: complete...I think
- Music: complete
- Precleaning: none
- Storyboard/planning: none
- Clipping: none
- Edit: none
- Postproc: none
- Export: none
Changing gears again to hopefully get this one out before Otakon's deadline; the Connichi-video is pushed back because the deadline on that's not till July. #106 is currently swimming upstream to Fanime, and will get its catalog entry done up and go on local when the current transmission finishes.
This video will hopefully wrap by next weekend, since the source is a single film, but work on this will be preempted as necessary by operations to move into my new apartment. There's a week of give between then and the deadline, though, so it's workable...and if not, I'll end up with two videos to point at Kassel.

stand up for your fight

SH106:
- Source rip: complete
- Music: complete
- Precleaning: complete
- Storyboard/planning: uh, effectively complete
- Clipping: complete
- Edit: complete
- Postproc: basically none
- Export: maybe 25%
#106 is now complete; I built interlacing-free MPEG2 and AVI versions of both the con and online versions last night and this morning, and all I have to do is get a newer Xvid build to to a proper 2-pass encode before this sucker's properly ground out. Of course, then I have to grind stats and do a writeup (have to do stats for #105 as well), but beyond that, if Fanime doesn't have a fresh-kill rule, it should be up Tuesday (probably going to be OOC Monday due to Metalfest hangover), with the "good version" of INSO10 as a limited extra.
This leaves tonight to pack up for Metalfest, and to start loading source for #107. It's going to be in somewhat the same vein, but necessarily weirder; I don't know that after #105, I have another "magnum opus"-style serious video in me, or even necessarily want to do one. After #107 ties off, if there's time, I may do another video for Connichi that's a little more serious, but after 5 months of being deep and emotional doing #105, I just want to bang my head and induce stupid laughter.

SH106:
- Source rip: complete
- Music: complete

- Clipping: complete

- Postproc: none
- Export: none
I had the stupid idea last night of using Maria-sama ni wa Naisho not only for the intro and bridge of this video, but for the whole damn thing, as I generated about 3.8 GB of source out of it when doing clipping for this 1:52 video, and I had done INSO10, on a 1:18 version of the same song, with 1.95 GB. At the least, I did up the intro (twenty seconds of nothing but lipsynch, fucking hard), and I can back out the other 9 seconds if necessary. Hopefully, I'll be able to finish the video like this; shoujo with crossover thrash is always funny, but chibis doing anything is like ++funny. The song gets a little repetitive in the middle, but there's not a whole lot I can do about that now.
INSO10 also "lost" in the AMV Graveyard's first round. This is kind of like the same thing as "won", except in this case the video won at being horrible. I now get to choose a method of death for the video, and am leaning heavily towards "Mummified In Barbed Wire", but I probably have to pick up CC's _Vile_ to decide whether I actually support the song over "Devoured By Vermin", which is also a pretty cool idea.
Since my brother and I are essentially done buying furniture (for now), there will probably be more work on the video tonight and tomorrow night, wrapping next Thursday night, just barely in time for the Fanime deadline; the weekend is Metalfest, and Monday through Wednesday we move in to our new place.
