JOURNAL: Kai Stromler (Kai Stromler)

  • the medication takes the edge right off 2007-01-15 11:45:12 fixed the links for the two videos that had aged out since their last checkup, and also, the four videos that I've done with live-action source are now online. Links are at the bottom of this thread:

I'm getting closer to a decision on what I want to do for numberstation sourcewise; hopefully, this also means that I'm getting closer to working on it. The plan is to re-listen through the song tonight, then check that I've got the filters that I need available, as it's looking like it's going to be heavily processed this time. I also probably need to clear off some drive space, but this is more or less incidental/

  • over blood oceans fly 2006-12-22 09:03:52 1) I am not dead.

    2) There will be an encode of #109 sometime after the turn of the year.

    3) I have a new huge epic idea in which I will finish saying everything I really wanted to 'say' with the AMV format, building on #7, #20, #57, #64, #70, #92, #99, and #105, which I will work on early next year, as I'm still gathering sources.

    4) Before that, though, I *will* fully discharge my responsibilities to numberstation.

    5) After these two projects, it will not be entirely surprising if I'm not heard from again in AMV circles. The contributing factors in this are a lack of time and enhanced creative opportunities in other areas. I will continue to keep my account current, respond to ops, lol at qcs, read some parts of the forum, and periodically maintain my indirect-links table, but new videos will basically not be happening. In real terms, there is going to be very little change from the current situation, except I won't feel guilty about not working on stuff.

The encode of #109 will be a little delayed, mostly because either my graphics card or my motherboard in that computer is either toasted or in need of a dope slap. This sucks, because it also means that I can't encode my Nanowrimo books to camera-ready formats either for the time being. Later today, I'm going to check and reupload any of the indirect stuff that may have aged out over the month or so of inattention, then seriously look at getting it on Minion's archive, because the 'forget' in 'fire-and-forget' is getting to be a hell of a lot more appealing. That's the great thing about the .org; even if I stop doing this hobby actively, the videos are still there, working their fell purpose, and I don't have to really monitor them or anything.

Not working on any videos right now, though I have a project slot that I'm going to have to finish by the end of January; I need to go back over that one and get some concepts together, and then there's that Cheap Trick/NHK bit that I need a whole new toolset for. We'll see if any of these get done around work, post-prod on the books, and various shows.

I'm probably not going to have #109 encoded by the end of the day. I finished the book I was planning to earlier in the week, but started another, longer one that is going to occupy my full attention. Look for it maybe next week then, and if not, then definitely by the end of the first full week of December, when all this will be mostly over with.

On the positive side AMV-wise, I have a pretty nice idea for #110, provided I can get the source into a workable form. This is also contingent on wanting to do AMVs again as opposed to writing or restarting one of my music projects, but it's still probably going to happen.

    SH110:
    - Source rip: complete
    - Music: complete
    - Precleaning: 70%
    - Storyboard/planning: none
    - Shooting: complete
    - Clipping: 0/16ish
    - Edit: none
    - Postproc: none
    - Export: none

If I don't manage to finish this video tonight -- and this is unlikely, because I have to buy food and watch football, it's going to be cancelled and pulled. I have some interesting ideas that I may want to work out with regard to it, but the deadline is tomorrow, and I'm not sure that I have the time to develop it. I also have to do a fuckton of general computer cleanup, though this will become less important over the next month.

Regardless of whether #110 wraps tomorrow or not, I will be placing all AMV-related stuffs on hold until probably the end of November, or however long it takes me to finish writing the book. Given that I've got work and Chinese to keep up with and a ton of shows to go to, I'm going to need every spare minute of NaNoWriMo in order to complete the task. I do have to encode #109, but that's not nearly as attention-consuming as actually cutting source or editing video, provided that I get everything set up right.
