teach me the tongue of fire

Watching Kindaichi movie. Mostly for the shower scene. Best in horror since Psycho; if you can watch that and not immediately put up the horns, there's something wrong with you.
Speaking of something wrong, yesterday's offer still stands. I know the forum is full of power metal fans; either they don't read this (more likely) or they just don't know their own history.
Current video: no additional progress. See last entry.

make your choice it's hell or paradise
2002-10-31 11:04:01
...and if you pick 'hell', you'll run into the new video, the first AMV using exclusively Animation Runner Kuromi. I am SO glad I didn't have to do any animation of my own for this one; it worked out with a lot of luck, a lot of looping, and minimal source reuse.
Now, though, after a back-breaking three and a half days, I'm taking off till Monday. I probably won't even rip the audio for the next vid. Just mass time-kill watching anime all the rest of today (unless I go over to Salem to fight stupid fundies), all tomorrow, club tomorrow night, then all day and night Saturday and Sunday till the football games come on. If I had a job, ofcourse, I wouldn't be able to go this, but if I didn't have a job, I wouldn't have been able to put myself through the wringer so hard making this video, and thus wouldn't NEED this veg spree.
Current video: Pain, "Supersonic Bitch" to Armitage III Polymatrix. Progress check: 20%. Expected catalog number: #59. This will be another toughie: I'll be going from 37 minutes of broken DVD rip, but fortunately that is unsubtitled, laving open the possibilty of some serious lipsynch action. The song's four minutes, but it's four minutes of technometal, so editing it down if necessary shouldn't be that hard.
Con news: Geez, when it's the offseason it's the freekin offseason, aint it? Solid info on only two more cons (in North America anyway), but it's enough to give me something to work with. Most recent vid will be headed to Katsucon.
Oh yeah, and it's been a while, so I'll do another one: first person who can tell me why today's title is appropriate (and get it right, that is) wins a pre-screener of #58 plus their choice of mixdowns.

making stupid gestures, nothing much to say
2002-10-30 11:03:12
Two more bug reports from anonymous people who don't read video entries, but otherwise all is fine. The current video is aproaching 30% overage, and it looks to be mostly quality cuts, unlike some where every shot cut that could go in the video ends up in the video.
Animation Runner Kuromi reminds me almost to a disturbing degree of Kodocha. There's a lot in common between the sets of character designs, and the little octopus dude could almost be Babbit in costume. If I wasn't breaking my back trying to do a video here, I'd go hunt down the production staff credits and see if there's any overlap.
Current video: Iced Earth, "Highway To Hell" (cover) to Animation Runner Kuromi. Progress check: 46%. Expected catalog number: #58. This video may end up with a similar feel and thematic balance to video #37, if only because the parts of the animes that I'm using are similar, and because it's one of the few slower-paced upbeat metal songs that I've done so far. If I can get a full day in today (as it seems I'll be able to), I'll be able to finish up tomorrow, and either take Friday off for recon and club, or get an early start on the next vid, which is going to be even more intense clipping.

we learn how hard it is to crawl

The video is going OK, but I'm paying the price in terms of increased commitment time. Ofcourse this video is in all likelihood going to come in under 20 man-hours (25 at most), and the only way it'll go much over that is if I have to do a whole lot of animation, so I have no room to complain. Other people spend that long on effects/assembly alone, never mind source collection.
Mailed Red Wolf the box of the first four SHPC releases and SHSC #1; should be listed by this time next week if the mails aren't lying. With regard to AMV-DC-related things around here, I'd like to apologize for my foulup on the link to video #17 that had it marked as 'direct'. Also, please ignore the bug reports on videos #10, #20, and #21; the person or persons who submitted them most likely did not read the video info entry in question, as all linked entries now clearly state that the link goes to the DC rather than a download. Sorry to the person who put in the bug report on #20, as that information wasn't in the entry when that report was made.
Current video: Iced Earth, "Highway To Hell" (cover) to Animation Runner Kuromi. Progress check: 38%. Expected catalog number: #58. Again, depending on how things go, this could be as high as 50%. Don't be surprised if this suddenly swaps to a My Pet Demon song. They've got a song in the to-do list still (it was supposed to go as #58 with Kikimusume, but the encodes of that were for crap), but the anime it's with right now is kind of shaky, and I don't like doing the same song twice to different animes. I've done it twice, but both times to demos, not 'real' videos. I'll probably push this one to 42% (58% if no animation) tonight, then dupe tapes and wrap up clipping tomorrow with an eye towards finishing a draft Thursday, or spending Thursday planning animation if that turns out to be the situation.
In terms of new projects, I got a hell of an idea last night for something pretty odd and pretty gestalt, but it'll hinge on me getting several volumes of a very popular new title from the club, which is not a sure thing. Good thing I've got the source well in had for several projects preceding. In theory, the next two after this could be damn good -- if I really buckle down and do good, committed, editing. Always the hinge point.

turn it up louder till we all get fried

I'm cautious about the current video, but it looks like it will actually happen, maybe even without me having to animate anything. This would be a Very Positive Development, but I'm not making any predictions. I've only clipped through 10 minutes of the 37 I have so far.
Hasshin! 1 and 2 are at the AMV DC now, so I'll be putting up links for all videos on those comps in time. Perfect Collection vols 1-4 and Special Collection #1 will be on their way probably tomorrow, since I'm burning daylight today.
Current video: Iced Earth, "Highway To Hell" (cover) to Animation Runner Kuromi. Progress check: 30%. Expected catalog number: #58. Depending on how final overage goes, this may actually be 34%. Probably not though.
As a public service: do NOT watch UFO Princess Walkure. Words cannot describe how wrong this show is. It's wronger than Hand Maid May, which set some wrongness records of its own. "The open wounds/expose/the importance of/our innocence/A high/that can never/be bought or sold" -- only destroyed by incredibly wrong anime.
