Sent off both the DC bundle and the request CD from that opinion resulting from a site glitch, and picked up the latest Opeth, _Deliverance_, which is right now doing its best God Almighty impression. Six songs, sixty minutes, nothing but mastery. Ofcourse this meant I had to drive, which is the point here.

It's raining something awful where I'm at, and there's still a hell of a lot of snow on the ground, which means there's fog all over the place. And because the drains are still iced up, the roads are in varyng stages of underwater-ness. So the roads are slick, and you can't see, and it's raining anyways, and believe it or not, there are people driving with no lights.

This isn't just stupid, it's dangerous. Ofcourse I wasn't one of them, because I'm a thorough beliver in the Jersey Idea: when your wipers are on, SO ARE YOUR LIGHTS. It's the law in the Garden State, and it oughta be the law in more places. One of the few things that I actually like about New Jersey.

Current video: ********, "***'* * **" to ****** ** ****! Progress check: 51%. Expected catalog number: #68. Looking to finish clipping tomorrow morning, and since the scense didn't quite fall as I remembered I may or may not do that intro. So things get a little easier, but that's just as well so I'll have more time to do the SSMM compositing for the next video, which is going to have me tearing holes in my skull.

btw, Point of Impact is headed for re-launch as soon as Ben, Alex, and I can get our shit together. I'll be baling up reviews tonight.

Decent weekend, decent progress on the vid, steamed that I can't see Nile (AND Dark Tranquillity, which makes things worse) next Friday becasue of club commitments. A few of my old buds are starting up a zine, though, so I'll be able to get back into the metal scene as a producer instead of just a consumer, even if I don't get mroe Grimlock stuff recorded like I planned.

I watched a lot more anime this weekend than I'm accustomed to; a lot of Touch, the You're Under Arrest OAVs, HYD 42-46, and all of Psychic Academy, the series that dares to answer questions that others don't even dare ask, like "just how many boob shots CAN you fit into 10 minutes?" It's kind of appropriate, given the current video, but that doesn't make the show any less dumb. Mopaxian's subbing isn't always the most consistent or accurate, but at least they remembered not to take this show too seriously.

Current video: ********, "***'* * **" to ****** ** ****! Progress check: 38%. Expected catalog number: #68. Clipped the first OAV of three this morning, should finish total cliping by tomorrow afternoon. Also did some preliminary storyboarding in what forms a kind of checklist; I know that the bulk of the video will be of one general kind of shot, but there are also a bunch of key shots that will not get clipped unless I'm specifically looking for them. I dread the time i'm going to have to spend on lip-synch.

Probably post the new DC releases tomorrow; still a bunch of things to tighten up with regard to those. Got a new opinion recently by mistake; hopefully the writer will take the offer and it'll turn into a real op.

Make that three releases, not two; two PC volumes and one SC to join the DC catalog in about two weeks, once I get the info files finalized and can get out to the post office. Also, I should be making a contribution to the Donut soon -- provided that the state has enough money to give me my tax refund.

Club tonight, and some good tidings yesterday from my old campaigners up north. Hopefully, things will work out for the new scheduling/direction of BAS, despite the unshakeable feel of sellout. The club joined Bandai's "CMJ of anime" club hookup thing last semester, and as far as I can remember anyway, the new schedule is crammed with Bandai/Pioneer properties: Vandread, AzuDai, Witch Hunter Robin, &soforth. Sean seems to be good peeps; hopefully his efforts will bear fruit.

Current video: ********, "***'* * **" to ****** ** ****! Progress check: 25%. Expected catalog number: #68. Captured all source last night, and it looks decent enough. I'm mostly taking today off, though; there'll be more than enough time to put towards this over the weekend.

  • a pain i cannot abide 2003-01-30 13:06:11
The entry for video #67 is up, and shortly I'll be packing together two more releases for the AMV DC, for release in the middle or so of February. Now that Kusoyaro sent in his back catalog and some other people have contributed, I won't come off as such a space hog.

Just finished submitting my FAFSA, so if I manage to get in to Michigan, they'll know how little I'm able to pay. For some reason I fall into the 'independent' category, so my parents will only have to pay for one student next year -- and I'll be getting that student loan interest deduction for a long, long, time to come. No free college, no free hosting, sure as hell no free goddamn lunch.

Current video: ********, "***'* * **" to ****** ** ****! Progress check: 5%. Expected catalog number: #68. This would be more fitting as #69, but the prod schedule is the prod schedule, and this is what I'm doing now. It'll capture, in the main, tonight, but I'll need to capture some other bits again for the intro and any remixing I have to do on the audio. I haven't done a silly video in a while, so this is a good change of pace.

Just have to organize one more shot, and then I'm into the drafting stage. This should go down with about the same speed as a demo, because I've got about 50 of the 93 total seconds accounted for with text. Feeling good, dreading the next video, which is going to require quite obsessive attention to detail.

Current video: Sentenced, "Kaamos" to Noir. Progress check: 83%. Expected catalog number: #67. It's a good thing this video is so short, because rebalancing everything for the Jin-Roh video was a pain and a half, and I'm going to have to do all that again this time. Should be done and posted by this time tomorrow.

Oh, and if anyone can finish the line that today's title starts, thay'll win a full-quality screener of this trailer plus their choice of mixdowns.
