to live my life and to be free

A little bit of extra public exposure: I'm going to be on the AMV panel at AniBo (one month and counting), and the Riverblind page is finally up at http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/547/riverblind.html. Of course, that's nothing particular to celebrate over: I still don't have a job, I still haven't heard back from Rackham, and I'm still not done _Cairn Zoser_.
However, I was able to get a big stumbling block out of the way this morning: I wrote lyrics to those last three tracks that I couldn't do anything with. I'll see if I can get out of this commitment I have tonight, then probably do recording then, just as a way to get things rolling.
I sent in my Carrot donation as well, and will be sending Ben the next review block shortly, so that's two other big issues off my chest. Next I should be burning the pressing of Mind Corruption '03 (which I was able to finagle into exactly 666 MB) and seeing what contests I have to deal with in the near future. Ofcourse also finish the CD, send off two releases to the DC, and work on some flagship AMVs for the summer con season, but those roll without saying.
Current video: Nokturnal Mortum, "Barbarian Dreams" to Piano. Progress check: 25%. Expected catalog number: #72. I was thinking about masking this one like I did for the Old Man's Child video way back, but by now a masked song and a cute anime is simply code for some black metal song or other. This is a really cool atmospheric drum and synth piece, and there's no shortage of suitable source. The hook is going to be the coloration: this one will be entirely shaded in a hue whose composition is classified but designated "barbarian purple" for these uses. This one's gonna be damn cool.
Riverblind news: the bandpage went up, and the lyrics for all tracks are done.
Entirely unrelated, but Hasshin! 3 should be ready for release around Otakon, maybe earlier if I decide to send #70 to AX. About two more videos should put the CD at capacity.

I expected that #71 would be the first Skrewdriver video in the DB (really, how many skinheads like anime?), but never expected that I would also get first on Colorful. That's bizarre. Anyhow, the vid is in, with a full explantion of how that music track got there, and I am once again between video projects.
I had wanted to do this past one as video #88 for what should be obvious reasons, but the source came together now instead of 17 videos further down the line, and next to nobody would get the joke in any case.
The rest of this week will be spent on recording blackscreamed vocals and as many rhythm guitar lines as I can put together, possibly some CD-burning, and definitely a Donut/Carrot donation, which I have been putting off for far too long. At my current connection speed, there's little advantege in it for me personally, but I should be able to at least get some vids hosted, which would otherwise be much more expensive. #67 will be the first up, then probably #52 if I can get a remastered version made at least as good as the current mixdown, since so many people have been looking at that one.
as it will be,

back with a bang
2003-03-17 12:28:24
Of course it's not my fault that I spent five days 'away' from this place and everything went straight to hell, but it still happened. There is a reason, though; Spring Break. Most high schools and colleges have a break around this time, so there are suddenly a lot of people with little else to do but hang out in the forums. Nasakenai yatsura.
Me, I'm working steadfastly on the first vid to challenge the implicit ban on politically controversial music, and busy reviewing CDs. Three more and I'll ship off the next block, including Amon Amarth's _Once Sent From The Golden Hall_, which I have been lacking for next to forever. I'll either finish up that or draft the video tonight...._Cairn Zoser_ can wait.
I am still working on that CD, but not of late. I'll probably record all the black metal vocals and some rhythm guitars before the week is out, then burn the AniBo CD-pressing and see where to go from there in terms of more video or music work.
Current video: ***********, "***** ** *******" to Colorful. Progress check: 85%. Expected catalog number: #71. Done either today or tomorrow...whenever I finish the CD-reviews and can get 3 hours of hack time. A full explanation/apologia will be available in the video entry, even though there's maybe two or three lines that couls possibly promote some outcry, and even they aren't that bad.

progress and the sound of gears switching.
Riverblind news:
Stats on _Cairn Zoser_:
*Lyrics/texts written: 6 (of 9)
*Tracks arranged: 2 (of 14)
*Tracks recorded: 7 (of 59)
*Tracks mixed: 1 (of 14)
I recorded, cleaned, and mixed "Call of the Horns" yesterday, but ran smack into a wall in terms of recording ability. I want to get all the acoustic and vocal tracks the hell out of the way early, partly because many of them are essential, and partly because they're a pain in the ass to record. Unfortunately, the mike's not cooperating. I should be able to iron things out, but that means making a collector horn like you see in photos of old jazz recording sessions, and probably asking my brother for advice, since he's actually recorded vocals on this gear before.
Current video: ***********, "***** ** *******" to Colorful. Progress check: 25%. Expected catalog number: #71. I'll toss this one together over the next few days, whenever I feel I need a break from recording the album. It's going to be a fun video, but I can't release the bandname for political reasons; something like this deserves the full explanation it'll get in the video entry.
The Hypocrisy video has not been deleted, merely postponed. Video work until _Cairn Zoser_ is finished and mastered, or until the CD-burning for AniBo has to begin, will be on projects of limited clipping scope that I can bust out quick without consuming much drivespace. After this storm passes, I'll be able to get to work on my projects for the summer con season.

lack of comprehension

There aren't enough lyrics on _Individual Thought Patterns_ to even come CLOSE to the magnitude of idiocy we're talking here. I mean really, don't these people have any idea how stupid they look to anyone with half a brain?
Granted, I hate France too (for reasons entirely unrelated to the current geopolitical situation), but it's better to hate France and the French by making fun of them, not giving stupid names to your own food.
