and i walk to the hill

You heard it here first: the tracklist for Hasshin! volume 3 is finalized. It's going to run 20 videos, basically everything from #55 to #74, minus #73 because it's too gory and plus #46 because it hasn't been released yet. I may remaster #46 for this release, but that's up in the air. So: 75:30, everything from party hip-hop to skinhead punk to ethereal synth 'n' bass to biting-you-with-metal-teeth death metal. The final decision was made yesterday, when I checked the current load on the comp and decided that there was no way I could fit all of Project Haibane on. Of course, I didn't want to break up said project, so those four videos are going to be the leadoff to Hasshin! 4, which is currently projected for early 2004 release. This one goes out to distro for availability right after Otakon, since that's as early as #74 is going to be public.
There may be another video or so, but probably not. Remasters will fill up the last 72 MB on the disc, and it's more important to just get the release out at this point.
Current videos: Bill O'Brien, "Old Shoes", Gamma Ray, "A While In Dreamland" and "Farewell", and Borknagar, "The View of Everlast", all to Haibane Renmei. Progress check: 55%, 50%, 55% and 50%. Expected catalog numbers: #75, #76, #77, #78. Over the wall and down the slope...but work and social life will cut into the pace a little.
I was thinking about getting my hair cut today, but did not. When it gets at me again, I'll flip the coin again, but there's no need to rush things. Eventually, it will get cut; just not quite yet.
Club was mass cool (as ofcourse was hanging with Meg beforehand), but I can't get the Recca eps I'm supposed to be outputting to work. I'll try going for a more recent codec, because NONE of the 7 I've tried have been functional, but I seriously suspect that there's a real problem here. We'll see.

but i always knew you could

Quick entry. I have to call Michigan, then catch a train. Hopefully the Red Line will be running with some degree of regularity, even this early in the afternoon.
Mailed off CDs to Scott Melzer for PortCon Maine (#58, which will probably get shown, and #71, which probably won't....I'll keep sending it around and do like a "political correctness report" until someone's brave/stupid/desperated for videos enough to put it in their contest) and an AniBo staffer who was stuck running the video game room downstairs but was still impressed with #66....on which the accolades keep coming in. Marco of turboneko fame: "Very good editing, but my gosh it's revolting". After 66 videos the editing oughta be good, and asfor revolting.....well, if it wasn't, then it wouldn't be KK, now would it? Blood and brains, blood and brains...
Videos are progressing. Next time I'm going to count hours like I used to for demos, then divvy 'em up after. It's too much work tracking four separate totals and balancing by segment.
I'm considering getting a new editing prog.....ofcourse not Premiere, I have a rep to keep here....but definitely something new, probably this summer, for a video that I may send to AWA Expo as a test piece and ship to cons afterwards if it goes well. AWA Expo will probably also get the full version of Project Haibane; individual videos may be sent to various cons on secondary slots before that, but this will be the full release, in the order that they ought to be watched in.
Hopefully I'll be able to pass out some more CDs at club tonight; I made way too many and still have a bunch left. I should be starting work on Wednesday, so future con plans are thrown up in the air. But I'll be getting paid, which is compensation enough.

you would see if

Chicago was cool. Social Misfits was also quite cool. Most haven't heard of this film, but it's worth the time to track down. Especially if you were/are a messed-up kid, or hung/hang around with such. The rest of the evening is better left to history.
Now I have to get Metalfest tickets...if I can wheedle my school friends into letting Meg and me crash on their floor. It turns out that she was also at the Sigh show last May. How cool is that?
I have to call her sometime today too......after I finish answering the emails I haven't been due to all this other stuff, probably before I finish the 'finishing' stage for the current episode.
Current videos: Bill O'Brien, "Old Shoes", Gamma Ray, "A While In Dreamland" and "Farewell", and Borkanagar, "The View of Everlast", all to Haibane Renmei. Progress check: 48%, 43%, 48% and 43%. Expected catalog numbers: #75, #76, #77, #78. Episode 6 provided in excess of 5 minutes of footage, so it will be almost impossible NOT to meet source overage goals considering that there are still 6 of 11 eps left to go through. Hopefully I'll be able to steal some production time this weekend and push a couple more through.
Real life, though, has a definite tendency to take precedence.

in the heart of winter the comfort of the sun

We're going to see Chicago tomorrow. happy.
But the few who read this likely care less about my love life than video progress. I got locked up last night with some bookkeeping stuff, then bogged down with application materials in the morning -- until Meg called yay -- so there hasn't been time to get going on Project Haibane again. I've been thinking about cancelling it for the time being so that I can wait until I get the DVDs (Pioneer's bringing it Stateside hell yeah), but I've already sunk 20+ hours into this, and I feel I ought to see it to completion.
I passed in my job materials, so hopefully I can get the drug test out of the way and start ASAP. Michigan is going to be expensive.
I should be doing editing work or reading up on Java beans instead of hanging about here. The life clock strikes and you obey.

AniBo....is over. And it was mass cool. And I didn't end up seeing MPD after all. And they're gonna go after me so bad the next time I see them once I tell them the reason. Especially since Meg is metal too. "Dude, what the hell were you doing just sitting around watching cartoons together? You should have brought her up to the show!"
Nantoka, kanojo ga dekitta. I'm still not sure how, or why, or where this is going, but it's been fun so far and I hope it'll stay that way.
~suki~
Ofcourse, the rest of my life crowded right the hell in this morning, taking me straight out of both Con High and sappy love-love mode. A bunch of paperwork for Michigan and my summer job that I really don't want to do (but have to anyways) is probably gonna cut severely into any efforts to work on Project Haibane. And then there's the fact that I didn't finish the chapter of the book that I wanted to, and that I'm STILL putting off work on _Cairn Zoser_....no sleep till.......
Obviously, no video progress this weekend. I did nab the Kujaku-oh I needed on VHS from the dealers' room, so that video is gonna jump up the chain some. I also got the 1957 live-action version of the story that was going to become Sword For Truth, so I'm kind of eager to see how they took it, and if there really is a resolution to it after all. Five-for-twenty VHS sales rule.
But not as much as M--
<brutal Berserk-fan Kai smashes sappy Marmalade-Boy-fan Kai in the head with a crowbar and gets back to that goddamn paperwork>
