WCFYCB has competed, so it'll be up presently, as soon as I remember to bring the CD up to campus (probably tomorrow). I'll probably get done the current video and one other over Thanksgiving, as there isn't much classwork to do, and I've written nearly all of the way through the scene that I'm on the fence about.
Actually, it's done. It's just that now I'm going to have to write two versions of what happens between it (or where the narrative would otherwise have left off) and the start of the second half of chapter 12. I'm pretty sure that it won't affect 13 too much.
That's the problem with doing CS. Normal writers would just take a walk or spend a couple hours in a coffee shop scribbling and work it out; I toss in some branch points, go charging off down one branch, come back through the other, and put off the merging and cutting text until the editing phase.
Semi-ontopic:
I gave actually solicited advice to a 'known' creator earlier today. While it's not like he'll ever use it or anything, it was still a pretty weird experience thinking it over.
AARGH. MUST FINISH #84. MUST BANG OUT PRANK. MUST DO UP #85. MUST TRY AND KICK UP #86 BY END OF SEMESTER.

still we try to comprehend

Yesterday it was no-jacket warm. Today snowflakes were coming down. I can't understand this ridiculous climate. Someday, I'll be out of school and able to move back somewhere temperate.
The book is going okay; I should be able to write all of chapter 12 that I haven't yet, including the undecided scene and both branches following from it, over break, in addition to working on 481 and 478 stuff, which would allow me to do video work thereafter, because writing 13 will probably be a little difficult if I don't know which path 12 is going to take.
Maybe i'll just be able to come to a decision in the writing process. I'm not real sure about that, though, because I'm already about 7 pages in, maybe 5 away from the decision point, and I still haven't pushed it one way or the other. Sucks.
Offtopic:
I went on another CMB kick this weekend and watched the 20 or so eps that I had brought out and not seen yet. This show rocks. Like Flame of Recca or Dragonball, except with cooking instead of fighting. Very cool. Before that, though, I saw four of Hanada Shonen Shi, which I can't quite figure out. Some of the time, it's deep and moving, and some of the time, there are kids pissing in the hallway and old people falling face-first into turds. It has a cool concept (like a de-pokemonized Shaman King with infinitely better prod values), but OP and ED songs by the Backstreet Boys. I don't know whether to look for more eps, or be glad that I don't have them.
Still, though, when the next episode is something called "Old Dick Grandpa", your curiosity has to be a little piqued.

for me and for you

Rrgh. Too much work to do, too little time. Thankfully I've got break to work on the 478 impossibility, but there'll probably also be another AI problem set. Damn them.
I prototyped chapter 12 last night, and unfortunately wrote myself onto the horns of a dilemma. If I put a certain scene in, the rest of the book will flow one way. If I leave it out, it'll flow in a completely different direction. The problem is that both branches are valid, and will eventually result in what I want down the line, but the way that they get there, and the way that the surrounding circumstances take shape, will be completely different. I'll write 12 up to that break, gin up the scene in a branch file, and run it past my 'editor' over break.
I printed out more galleys today. The most recent five chapters are about as thick, cumulatively, as the first seven. If this keeps up, I'm going to finish well over three hundred.
Video work when I get around to it, maybe Thanksgiving break. Most likely not before then.

a new age has begun

I did no video work last night. I did no schoolwork last night. Instead, I wrote 13 pages in about two and a half hours and battled chapter 11 to completion. I should be able to finish chapter 12 over the weekend, with succeeding chapters advancing at a similarly ruinous pace. Tonight, I'm going to apply the same regimen to my AI homework (provided I don't get too blasted during 481), and plow that out of the way.
The one thing I forgot to bring back from my undergrad years before now: fast power metal and uncut Coke. Now, if I can keep applying this formula, maybe I won't have as many problems (except for with my acid levels and sleep allotment).

down and over me

Did somebody on the forums really just ask how to do a crossfade (one of the few 'effects' you can do with fricking avisynth)? Do I really have to cut my throat now?
Hopefully not, because I made a huge mistake yesterday. I bought the first volume of Eagle.
When I first saw it at Underworld, I told myself, no, you can't buy that now. It's going to be really good, but you don't have a steady income, and it's going to be a hundred-dollar commitment (over five vols), and reading it will disrupt your normal doing-stuff patterns just like Akira and Cerebus did. I should have just bought The Red Spectacles at Wizzywig and gone the hell home.
Unfortunately, I didn't. I read Eagle 1 through twice, and thus erased the potential of doing anything productive at all. It kicks ass, but I've got schoolwork to avoid getting behind on, a book to push into final phase, and a video to finish as well. Maybe today. It's not like I don't have class, but I understood the exam, even the parts I screwed up on, so I'll be able to switch between homework, writing, and video stuff tonight. I'm two pages away from where the book'll start to write itself again and about to hit into what should be the richest chunk of source for clipping purposes. It's about time I started getting downhill on something.
