Current video: Mortician, "Brutal Disfigurement" to Kawarazaki + MPD Psycho. Progress check: 81%. Expected catalog number: #90. I was able to draft about 15 seconds last night before the editor crashed. Fuck. And, having no saved project, all the desire to rework it fled.

Club was pretty boring as well, I screwed up one of my requests, and we fuckin traded Nomar on Saturday for no net gain. This weekend sucked.

Against that, I have to stack reading all of Ippo (as translated so far) and listening to Sarcofago's _Rotten_. At least those were cool. ANd I managed to gin up a new Awakening scenario, so my old crew can start gaming again...unless I kill off the entire party in the first five minutes and people get frustrated. At least now, three years having passed since the last real session, drinking is now legal for nearly all participants. Either way should be interesting...and it'll get better if I can get someone else to GM for once.

No progress; I instead watched In Aeturnum's tourvideo (DVD-release = MUST BUY! -- pugroll & busting people at the porn shop = good stuff, not to mention tequila shots and getting grounded on the boat; the live videos were decent, too) and then the end of the DNC. The video will probably be worked up and finished over the weekend, one way or the other, even with the need to dupe stuff.

Summer's running out -- at least one video, probably two, before the end of August, though what the second video will be depends largely on when I'm able to get my new system running an OS. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

Current video: Mortician, "Brutal Disfigurement" to Kawarazaki + MPD Psycho. Progress check: 80%. Expected catalog number: #90. Finished clipping, did the timing chart. I may be a little under for properly brutal source, but I'll finage something. There's enough, and it's deadly enough, but arranging it is going to be the main hurdle. Either drafting (in Magix) or TMPEG-shoving tonight, while the VCRs churn through the last of the stuff I got out last week.

Club has gone kind of batshit tomorrow as regards schedule; I'm thinking I drop what I've borrowed, clear out to Harvard Square and waste a couple bucks, then swing back to get out my library stuff and try to buy pizza off the rack. Keine Interesse auf Escaflowne.

I'm currently downloading what appears to be the SVCD-weight version of a forthcoming DVD from In Aeturnum about this hellish almost-Euro tour that they sort of went on before Deicide, the headliners, bailed and left them stuck in England with no gigs. The movie is allegedly about the hell of a tour gone wrong, with live footage from the gigs the band managed to play in order to get back to Norway. The only problem is that the file is 760 MB, which is just a LITTLE too big to put on CD. Not that it matters....I have hacha and Virtual Dub and thus fear no filesize. Only four hours to go on the file...would've been a lot easier for us and MUCH easier on their webserver if they'd just cut it down to a single livevideo for the promo, a twentieth the size of this. Then they'd need fewer mirrors and have burned only 11 GB of bandwidth instead of 220.

Of course, this band willingly went on tour with the infamous mercurial assholes Deicide, so.....

  • that we all can change 2004-07-28 13:12:33
I lied yesterday. Or, more accurately, I failed to take into account that my efforts would be delayed by extenuating circumstances. This is what actually happened, provided that "extenuating circumstances" can also be read as "whiskey, relatives, and the next volume of Initial D". I should have done clipping instead of writing stuff while Tokimeki Tonight was running off, but I got almost two pages in (at single-spaced 10-point), which is not too damn bad for 11PM-1AM while being exhausted and drinking heavily. I also managed to clear the final stages of Gal Pani X and beat the bonus stage, so woo fucken hoo. I suspect it will get old rapidly, but that's no excuse not to kill time by trying to clear more CG.

I screwed up the last band's name from last weekend. Void of Silence was decent, but their CD was easily the most boring of the ones I snared last Friday. Best is probably a tie between Taraxcum (_Rainmaker_) and Tankard (_B-Day_); I found Threshold's _Extinct Instinct_ to be pretty lame, in spite of what they've done since. Yattering are cool, but they show the most punch in their covers, and they're no Vital Remains. I need to get some Decapitated and see for sure if Vader is just a fluke, or if the Polish death scene is any fraction as good overall as its fanboys make it out to be.

Tapes to dupe, series to run off....manga to finish swiping....it'd be tough out there even if I wasn't frantically trying to finish cobbling together this app for work. I'm just about ready to give up sleeping....we'll see what comes together this weekend.

No progress last night; I was sleeping instead of working on anything. Tonight I probably cut up the second ep and do the timing chart, etc; I'm feeling noticeably better. Also will probably dupe up some of my borrowings before the convention coverage starts. I can run off tapes tomorrow and Thursday night; I don't *have* to give MITAC a new series every week, but I do have to give back my library stuff if I want to get new gear out.

I threw an hour into Gal Pani X around 2AM and managed to clear to the fifth level. It's still hard as fuck, even with informed path choice, but I think this is replicable.

    offtopic:
We have gateway filtering of the internet here at work. Yesterday, the Tech Report came up blocked under the "Games" heading, but Tom's Hardware is still accessible. Those knowledgeable about biases/fanboyism in the hardware-review world can see the implication. What they can't see is the lack of sense here; I work for a semiconductor-equipment firm that just concluded a major deal with AMD and is only slowly becoming less frozen-out from Intel. Dumb...but that's what happens when you let a 3rd party decide what your employees should or shouldn't be looking at.

There will be AMV-progress info in this thing tomorrow. At the least, the timing chart will be short and easy; the song's 86 seconds long, there's 8 lines of lyrics, and Mortician isn't exactly world-famous for the variety and interplay of their riffage.
