Current video: Cales, "Days Of Emptiness" to various J-games. Progress check: 15%? Expected catalog number: #91. This is the result of nine and a half hours of effort consuming most of yesterday. There are also a few anime titles that are going to be making their way into the video by fits and starts, so it will be able to be listed. The work on the first 19 titles is not yet fully complete; I estimate maybe two hours of mixdown tonight after the session before I can in good conscience load on another gig of source (a much more realistic quantity to work with).
Session tonight, and I still have to prepare the audio....tough stuff. Fortunately, collecting almost seven minutes of footage means that I can pick and choose among the rest, and future editing stretches won't be as long or as tough.
The new comp is running Mandrake 10.0 now, but not perfectly; I need to find some spare time sometime to force it to recognize the DVD drive as such (more than cdrom), and try to get TV playback of stuff working. If I don't need to spend undue processor cycles rendering stuff to SVCD to be useful to club, so much the better.
offtopic:
I picked up Beyond The Embrace's latest, and I know their old bass player from somewhere, but I can't place it. They're from way down in New Bedford, but I know I've heard the name Adam Gonsalves somewhere before. Regardless, they kick ass, so it doesn't terribly matter.

No video progress, like usual. I finished running off the Mandrake installs, and may try to load that tonight if I get back early, tomorrow otherwise. Unfortunately, work has gotten a lot harder and I may have to pull some home overtime in order to straighten out the rat's nest of legacy code I've got to deal with. The guy I'm working for threw it together in about forty-eight hours, with negligible sleep, and it shows; one function is declared, with identical code, twice in the same file and once in an additional file. I'm surprised it compiles at all.
Club has Monster tonight, so I'll be getting back later than has been usual, but with more opportunities for taping content for Otaku no Radio. I hope I haven't been building this up too much, it'd suck to fall short and not get something good tonight.
Up in the coming week: an Awakening session where the players are screwed if they kill the monsters, and hopefully actual video progress and dupage of episodes....not to mention more silly audio and perhaps some actual book progress. I ought to be grounding myself for fall semester as well, but I did all right picking up from zero last year, and this time around there'll be significantly fewer distractions.

No video progress last night, Awakening session tonight, doesn't look like much'll be done on that front until tomorrow night. But then I have to install a new distro...which means a lot of time moving and burning ISOs before actually doing the install. Or I could throw the spare CD-drive into the new box and use the multi-function drive under Dynebolic for testing purposes, which looks like a better option and will require only a small modicum of fucking with the BIOS to go operational. I can do that while prepping the Mandrake ISOs.
I don't hurt across the shoulder girdle any more, so I guess I'm finally getting acclimated to my new training program. Unfortunately, I'm still at about 40% of where I need to be, but that's a big improvement from zero. My technique will probably catch up to my pre-existing strength in another week or two, and from there I can start making gains instead of making up losses. The spiritual, mental, and social components are doing a little better, but there's plenty of room for improvement there as well.

awaiting the final command

Entries are up for SH089 and SH090. At the current rate, provided that I can successfully turn the corner on both the new vid and my general schooling, SH100 should be rolling around in time for the fourth anniversary at the end of next May.
Current video: Cales, "Days Of Emptiness" to various J-games. Progress check: 1%? Expected catalog number: #91. I've got about a gig of source loaded for this one already, and I *have* all the source I'm going to be using in hand, but I have NO IDEA what fraction of the available titles I've got in shape to start clipping. Progress will be extremely haphazard until clipping is completed, or at least until I've loaded the last of it and know for SURE that I've got through that 20%.
In with this, of course, is the huge issue of tracking source for a large number of titles that I cannot immediately identify. I'm thinking alphanumeric correspondence table....and a lot of woodshedding with a Japanese dictionary to pick out what I can't auto-translate. If I had done my research better when I was raking up this stuff, it would be easier now, but that's how the world turns.
Still have to dupe what I borrowed Friday, send in new requests, and write last week's audio out to disk; that should give me plenty to do while training tonight....and writing stuff up for an Awakening session tomorrow night. The manual for this game is approaching publishable (electronically, anyways) levels, and needs only a few more tweaks. This'll be version 2.1, with maybe a 2.4 to follow if a lot of Skills or items are added....or if I ever finish the Advantage/Disadvantage system.
Back to work...programming's so much more fun when you're actually accomplishing something.

Finished the video, and I was surprised by how good it turned out. Not as in "it's awesome", but as in "it doesn't totally blow". That was yesterday; I'll be getting the video descriptions for #89 and #90 up tomorrow. I'm still unnerved by the ending part -- it wasn't meant to be that creepy, but it is, and the video is better for it.
SH090 will obviously not be hosted locally. Neither will it be hosted on direct. In order to make the video maximally repellent, there is a nontrivial amount of material in it that is just not legal to distribute. So why make it in the first place? Because there's a bottom to everything at which the sickness and revulsion can get no deeper, and this goes a good way towards finding it.
The next one will be a lot happier, and I may even be able to edit it more or less directly, which will be cool. There is still no OS on the new comp, which makes the DVD idea less likely until I get back to school.
Depsite being sick, the weekend was pretty cool. It's not often that you get the chance to cross a moving drawbridge, so missing the right bus stop is not a uniform debit. And I got some old Pestilence, a Pinkerton Thugs disc, and some quality audio for FuKu...as soon as I get the chance to transfer it, as there's more gaming tonight. Hopefully I'll be able to kill the players off quickly and give someone else a chance to run something.
