Current video: Meridian, "Abraham Timecode" to two shows too mangled to recognize. Progress check: 75%. Expected catalog number: #92. Clipping is all done, and I should be able to work on this hardcore tonight. There's less than three days before it has to be completely finished, so this is manageable. I've got about six and a half minutes of footage, which is a nice comfortable margin, especially considering that there are going to be some nontrivial extents of pure static.

Plan for tonight is to go straight from work to the store and score a few sixpacks of milk coffee, then work on the video until it's finished. RCs can wait till after CJN; I want to get this done in time to try a punchcarded version on Battlefreak and be able to send it to Kalium sometime before he packs up his laptop for the aud.

Since I'm clearing out, I decided I had bank balance to waste and dropped some of it on oldish CDs. Morifade's latest is pretty nifty, as were Allfader (kind of like Enslaved meets Hypocrisy) and Lugubrum (Boerske Blak Metle!!); there's a fourth CD -- can't remember the band right now -- that I haven't heard yet. On a similar note, Nightwish's _Once_ got reviewed in the Daily on Tuesday. They panned it, of course, because they are asshats and hate good music, but they actually reviewed it, which was like, *woah*.

All the CJN processing is done. I'm going to be getting an official offer letter and application before the start of next week (can't trust FedEx, or HR for that matter). And I'm depressed about the result of the election, but relieved at its resolution; even if Ohio does go blue, it won't be front-page news from now until when it actually happens.

Hence, I am skiving this afternoon and most of this evening; I've got dishes to do and a chapter RC to push out, and it certainly wouldn't hurt to finish clipping, which got preempted last night due to Pretty Cure.

This show is interesting. I wouldn't have watched it if I didn't have to run it off for WTH, but now I may actually consider following it. It's a retarded magical girl show, but like Tonde Boorin, the characters recognize that the magical-girl concept is retarded, and like Guru Guru, the producers are deliberately having fun with the over-the-top retardation level. It's probably never going to get licensed, but if this happens it would be interesting to see if the commercial teams translate 'Zakkenna', which is what all the monsters say, and the phrase used to summon them....and also a slangy way of saying 'stop with the stupid shit' in Japanese. If I had more time, it might even get into the video.

I'm glad that I have other stuff to work on....school motivation is pretty much unrecoverable, but I've still got a manual and a video to finish. I've still got *something* to get amped about.

I did my part to bounce the chimp this morning. Hopefully, others will do the same, and enough of the votes will get correctly counted that we can actually have an elected president this time around. Signs, though, are not any more favorable than on the last pass.

First off, the universe is broken and trends cannot accurately be placed given prior evidence. The Boston Red Sox won the World Series, for cripes' sake. In any other year, the Packers getting back into contention by whupping the 'Skins would be an unmitigated positive indicator, but this is not reliable any more.

Second, I must be the only one in the country who is not jumping for joy about an anticipated 60% turnout. True, it's great if it gets the chimp and his cronies out, but turnout that high is a sobering reminder of how BAD things got. When people figure the system is working for them, and they haven't got a lot at stake either way, they stay home and eat chips. When they get shit scared one way or the other, then they go to the polls. Highest turnout in recent history was for the referendum that split the Czech Republic and Slovakia into separate countries -- 90% of the eligible populace showed up for that one, because it was damned important. Bore versus Gush four years ago and we barely got 50% -- nobody knew how fucked things would get. How complacent were YOU in 2000?

No hope, no fear. No Diebold, no moronic angsty political journal entries.

I should probably finish clipping tonight, and release three Awakening chapter RCs tomorrow morning. CJN material is almost all run off; it'll finish rendering tonight, and maybe running off as well, depending on how long the meeting takes. The video may get done before CJN; it definitely would've if I hadn't gotten preempted by all-day all-night D&D over the weekend, but you gotta know where your priorities are.

Current video: Meridian, "Abraham Timecode" to two shows too mangled to recognize. Progress check: 62%. Expected catalog number: #92. One ep left, and all the processing is done on the main show. I may be delayed on this due to my few remaining school commitments and the work associated with re-encoding Bounty Hunter; it's nearly done, but I need another pass to make sure I'm covering up all the German. Good thing the new comp is so fast.

Last game session is tomorrow, so that's probably a total loss...good thing I already got paid & now have cash.

With the Series over, the video apporaching completion, and school about to come to a sudden stop, it's now time to refactor the Awakening manual and actually put out the 2.2 release. The first chapter RC will probably go out over the weekend.

FU, NYY. Y2K, MF. Can you see that on next year's shirts yet? Or maybe just the very idea of "World Champion Boston Red Sox" will cause sufficient mental anguish and scarring to those folks from the Bronx...

Current video: Meridian, "Abraham Timecode" to two shows too mangled to recognize. Progress checK: 58%. Expected catalog number: #92. Now only have finishing on one ep and the last full load left. Things are looking pretty good; source is about 4 minutes and I should be able to manage this one on 5.

Of course, it's tough; there's this huge distraction tonight, and I still have to do schoolwork to some degree, even if I'm withdrawing imminently. I bagged the real-time assignment that's due today, and even though I'm about to book an appointment to get my withdrawal form signed today, I still feel bad about it.

Hopefully HR will get on the damn ball and get me a start date soon; even if it's a crunch to do absentee balloting and get my mail forwarded, it's a lot better than continuing to half-ass three classes and beat myself around about blowing assignments.
