The "New Vid on the Block" list keeps getting more depressing every day. I've noticed it's consisted mainly of first AMVs slapped together in 3 days. And most of those being DBZ. I hate the elitist attitude of "all DBZ vids suck", but I see Omnistrata's point in a lot of rants he's been quite loud about. It's hard not to be predjudiced when the vast majority of DBZ vids are so utterly BAD. And it's even harder not to be biased against newbie vids when the vast majority of THEM suck, too.
I'm trying to keep an open mind. I really am. But when I scan the NVotB list every day and see titles like "Vegetas Pride" and "DBZ - Vegeta vs. Goku", with vid descriptions like "my 1st vid ppl plz op i spent 2 hrs on it", it's impossible not to feel some sort of disappointment, maybe even hopelessness.
And I feel guilty, because I KNOW there are good new creators out there working on awesome first vids that are just waiting to blow the Org away. The trouble is waiting through all this dren to get to them. -

In other news, going to see Sinbad tomorrow hopefully. Looks badass. I love Dreamworks' stuff, my only complaint is that there isn't enough, and it doesn't get nearly the respect it should (aside from Shrek, which kicked arse and was actually recognized for it). From Invasion America to El Dorado to Prince of Egypt, DW has done OUTSTANDING work. I just wish more people would realize it. -

....It's the elitist attitude that seems to be pervading the Org recently. With a site that has over 19,000 AMVs, you can't expect every single one of them to be a gem. In fact, being realistic, you would expect most of them to suck. But does that give certain Org members the right to say people shouldn't be allowed to make crappy vids? HELL NO!
The only person who has that right is Phade himself, since he's the one running this shindig. If anyone has the right to bitch about LinkinBallZ vids taking up precious bytes of his database, it's him. But we don't see him bitching, do we? So if he's the one who deals with the crap firsthand and not even he complains, why the hell are the rest of you complaining? If you don't like crappy vids, don't download them! Save the Carrot some bandwidth! But you have absolutely NO FUCKING RIGHT to tell people what they can and cannot create.
And contrary to what some people here may think, just because a certain anime is on the most overused list, that doesn't mean you can't do something original with it. It's up to you as a creator to come up with something, concept and music, that has not been done with that anime before. It's an even greater challenge than using animes no one has heard of, because you're using familar material and trying to come up with an unfamiliar concept.
Bottom line, people: QUIT'CHER BITCHIN'! -

Woohoo! Last two choruses left on Mugiwara no Evangelion! Then I get to do all the fun post-production stuff. Including 2 (count 'em, TWO) separate exports so I won't crop off my title screen. Damn Manga Video and their widescreen DVDs. Damn them to hell >.>
Seems I'll have to go back and re-do a few scenes, though. 'Cause there are some clips I've got as placeholders that aren't really working. But heck, it's all good. Then I can get to re-making my first attempt at AMVs. Boy is THAT gonna be fun....
