JOURNAL: Eek-1 (Ikhwan )

  • 2004-11-01 19:20:07 Luckily Rizal paid me earlier for the ram so I didn't have to withdraw money from bank on Monday and instead bought me an Apacer 512Megs DDR400 yesterday. Works fine, but I'm thinking of switch to Kingmax colour ram. The shop where I bought Apacer allows me to switch product within 2 days at most ^^, if I'm not busy today I might go there again.
  • Offline 2004-10-30 08:24:01 My ex-collegue Rizal came this evening and ask to buy my computer sdram and I agreed. A month before, I offered him the ram 384Megs for RM250 -- 66USD, since I've been planning to upgrade my comp to 512Megs ddr ^__^ . Unfortunately the bank's already closed so I have to wait until Monday to withdraw extra cash and go to island to buy a new ram.

Thus I'll be off from tonight until Tuesday. I've also yet to see my friend's student projects but I'll get back to it when I'm done maybe next week.

    Ciao!
  • 2004-10-29 14:48:17 A friend of mine, Azran, just sent me his students' final project to impress and get my reviews. These are all mini-films with special effects.

    1. "The Ending of the Martial Art Warrior" by Jeffrey & Aldrich Studio
From what I heard, it's a "Storm Riders" rip-off. But of course, not entirely, and the effects were self-made.. frame by frame!

    2. "Something Wrong Somewhere" by Md. Roshidi
    A horror movie.

    3. "Kelibat Misteri" ("Mysterious Attacker") by Nates Productions
A demonstration of light saber fighting effects that was based on a guide found somewhere on the Internet, that's what I heard.

From the previews these seem quite interesting. But I'm gonna watch them tomorrow coz it's already 2 a.m. now. I'll post all synopsis, picture links and reviews in this journal when I'm done.

    Goodnight.
  • Forum: "Gradient opacity?" 2004-10-29 05:33:10 jbone wrote a nice guide about using image matte to make gradient. This can be useful for myself :)

    -------
First, open an image editor such as Adobe Photoshop.

Create a new image (recommend 720x480, which is standard NTSC resolution).

Make sure the image is nothing but a white background.

Draw a black shape - rectangle, circle, whatever will create the shape of gradient you want.

Apply a blur to the entire image. I'm partial to "gaussian blur," as it creates a nice, even gradient.

Save the image in a lossless format.

Open Premiere, view the "transparency" option for the clip to which you want to apply the gradient.

Set "key type" to be "image matte," then "choose" the image you created with your image editing software.

    Hit "OK"

You will see a gradient applied to the image, in the form of transparency between layers in Premiere.

Once you view for yourself how this works, you'll begin to understand how to create the specific style of gradient you desire.

  • 2004-10-28 13:02:53 I just received a feedback from our reviewer clients. Our portal system is pending for approval until we have submitted a revised documentation and cleaned up source codes. Dateline is 5/11 next week, which means I'll be busy working again this Monday. But until then, I'll be playing Mad Caps, Jewel Quest and Adobe Premiere.

Speaking of games, I finished playing BeTrapped! (Those who don't know, you can checkout Yahoo! Games). It's a pretty cool game and can be addictive if you like minesweeper. Unfortunately the adventure game is just too short and linear. I was hoping there'd be alternate paths where I can save some suspects from getting murdered, or a generator that randomize the killer. Nevertheless the adventure mode is very well worth playing once.
