JOURNAL: RichLather (Jeff Tatarek)

  • "I can feel it going, Dave.... I can feel it." 2002-04-30 19:01:16 All of my AMVs now have dates showing their approximate time of completion.

90% is guesswork, as it really HAS been a long time, for most of them. I really don't remember when I did a lot of my videos...

    Time is a harsh mistress.
  • "I say we take off and nuke the site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure." 2002-04-26 17:53:17 Did a search and found "Cowboy" by Kid Rock set to Cowboy Bebop has been done a couple of times already, but neither of the hits that show up here have downloads available, so I don't know how good they are.

In my opinion, that moves the possibility of my doing it from being written in sand to being written in pencil on a Post-It note. :)

Also had a very crazy wacky idea that's short enough to be a good "first Premiere project"; one that won't take up much drive space and should be fun to do:

The theme from "Enterprise" set to Wings of Honneamise. I'm going to keep the thematic elements as close as possible to the show theme's visuals. Oughta be interesting....
  • "Seven meters....six..." "That can't be! That's inside the room!" 2002-04-25 23:27:30 Wow, five journal hits already. Thanks, guys.
  • "I got a bad feeling about this drop." "You ALWAYS say that, Frost." 2002-04-25 22:13:18 Suppose I might as well take advantage of this part of my membership...

I've decided it's been too long since I was absent from the convention circuit. I haven't had anything entered in a convention contest since ACen 2001 in the Staff category.

Restoration of my old, old AMVs will continue at a faster pace, I hope, given my new capabilities for at-home editing. I think I'll remaster my Akira video next, since that's easily obtainable on DVD. Plus, it was my first effort.

Went to Anime Central 2002 this past weeekend, working on AV Services staff once again. Duties in Main Programming kept me from attending parties or socializing as much as I'd wanted to, but I was able to actually converse with EK this year, instead of simply sharing the same air in the Green Room during post-con gatherings. We traded AMVs (she a CD-R, me a VHS tape) which was enough to make me more committed to getting my stuff online and in a more download-friendly format.

Also re:ACen, I still dig the graphics work I banged out for Opening Ceremonies, the Survivor: Macross Island game show, and the Iron Guest shows. I may have to link to JPGs at some point.

I've got a fresh crop of ideas and the will to implement them, now that I've actually got a DVD player for the den. I've had a DVD-ROM drive since last year, but that alone is not enough reason to start buying DVDs willy-nilly when the only place to watch them is a small home office...

    So, here are the ideas:

"Jerk of All Trades" by the Lunachicks to Excel Saga
"Weapon of Choice" by Fatboy Slim to various firearms clips
"Down with the Sickness" by Disturbed to the Devilman OVAs
and I'll have to see if anyone's done this already:
"Cowboy" by Kid Rock to Cowboy Bebop

That last one may not get done, because either someone's done it already as well as I'd've done it, or else not even I have find footage within the 26 episodes of Bebop to twist the lyrics around. I'll certainly play it for comedy value.

I sure want to do it after my last good idea, Linkin Park's "Crawling" set to Akira, was found to be very competently done by another member here (who I've forgotten, but they do have a download link). And I don't even LIKE Linkin Park.
