    I hate having 56K somtimes...the upload is going to take a few hours for the 68MB MPEG.

    I'll officially release it to the slavering hordes of AMV.org when I find out if it worked, then begin the process all over again, step by agonizingly slow step.

    I've converted my first analog AMV to MPEG.

    Recorded some of my old AMVs from VHS to MiniDV, than had enough time to capture one via FireWire and convert it. Then I burned it to CD-RW. Total time, perhaps 20 minutes with 4 of that being the actual capture.

    I got a 71mb MPEG at (I think) 320x480 resolution (don't know; I hate being at work without being able to access the Pinnacle program). An MPEG at max resolution would be about double that. I haven't even considered any other format.

    I'm going to give moobies.net a try for early distro, but I can't upload from work which means an all-night automatic upload over a 56K connection. Mneh.

    All things considered, they look pretty good for existing solely on VHS for a few years.

    The Best Buy coupons I got in the mail mean I'll be pulling the trigger on my camcorder purchase Friday. 10% off of $899 is nothing to sneeze at.

    Finally decided on the Sony TVR-25 model, and I'll also be buying accessories for my wife's PDA at the same time.

    Then, it's off to Hale Farm near Akron for a weekend's reenacting. So yep, still too busy... the deck is looking nice though! 
  • Gotta knock a little harder 2002-07-30 20:15:22 Well of COURSE I have nothing new to report with the Akira remaster AMV!

    Good excuses, though...parents are coming to visit beginnig this weekend, so the wife and I have been getting the house clean and presentable. I have had no free time, aside from Monday the 29th which I used up building a workbench for the garage (it'll take a bazooka hit, easy!).

    And next week I'll be too busy helping to build our new deck (the reason for the parental visit) to piddle with a homebrew AMV...

    Oh, and there's the highlight video for the Columbus Crew I want to make for the All-Star break...

    MAYBE it'll be done by Christmas. Mneh.

    Also taking a good hard look at replacing my ancient full-size VHS camcorder with a MiniDV model, most likely the JVC 720 or 820. But I'm waiting until the prices drop another $150-$200 at Best Buy, or when they bundle in a FireWire card.

Gimme yer money! 2002-07-13 19:45:50 Nothing new to report with the Akira video...I've only had about three hours of face time on the home PC since my last entry (which, like this one, is being entered AT WORK) and that time was spent playing Day of Defeat 3.0--it's verra verra nice.

    If anyone really cares, I've got a bunch of Ninja High School and other manga titles up for auction on eBay. Check 'em out if you wish.
