NES Project and more!
2002-10-25 20:31:10
I am very happy with the way things are going with the NES project. Sure
there are some rough edges when it comes to track transition, but I am
not stressing the importance of the video connectors... more just have a
good time and make something you can dance/smile/laugh with. :)
(and please actually make your videos! I don't want to 'remember' anyone
as the one who couldn't make a vid :P)
Also I am hoping that all those involved regularly check the website
(http://www.nhmk.com/nes) as I will be adding more and more content
pertaining to different aspects of the project and editing in general! :)
I just added an avs/mjpeg guide to the page which can open the doors of
editing on a 'budget' computer without the pain of waiting for avs files
directly in premiere. AbsoluteDestiny sold me on this concept in about...
2 seconds once I realized the benefit of quick avi access while editing,
and rendering from the vobs for the final. =) x 50.
Next I am looking to either make a generic effects guide, or more likely
give quick and dirty descriptions of sprite capture from emulators and
how to abuse them! (such as megaman running I plan to put in my
own video) ... or whatever else comes up!
On the note of megaman... I went back and played through megaman 3! Wow...
the hardest part is the stupid megaman 2 bosses 'revisited' section.
Everything else is cake compared to those. :P Also I love the fact that
when I bought the game and played all the way through (long ago...) I
beat the final Wily with 1 hit. Apparently you're supposed to use the
snakeman power but... when I first got to that point I decided... "why
not?" and broke out the top spin power... nailed wily and he was out in a
single hit. :P
This isn't my first return to NES land recently as I finished megaman2
and castlevania 2 (I tried to beat castlevania 1... the pain of the last
level made me quit). I don't think I can break my megaman 2 record of
30 some minutes any more... :( hahaha.
More NES project to come... open track selection for those who are still
interested but missed the selection deadline should be around the corner.
We have some tracks that we'd really like people to do so we have those
listed on the website also.
Thanks to everyone for your interest and for not ALL picking Zelda 2 Temple
Trance. :P:P (6-way dispute at one point...) I hope everyone is happy with
their tracks and is looking forward to an enjoyable project!

Nes Project Track Selection
2002-10-15 00:52:10
Well... uhm I would have liked to have posted in the forum... but uhm, sadly they aren't exactly there at the moment... :(
So those interested in the nes project... track selection information/instructions can be found on the:
NES Projest mailing list: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/nesproject/
or the Org mailing list: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/amv/
When/if the forums return I'll post it there too. :)
Track assignment will come shortly (patience please!)
Don't start your editing just yet!

NES Project test video!
2002-10-13 21:34:40
Okay so uhm... I dunno if it's a dance video... but it's pretty crazy...
You can download it at http://www.nhmk.com
(not going in the database until it's finalized for the project)

Most... unique
2002-10-09 19:57:23
I am working on a test video for the NES project using a Jackal mix and
Those who hunt elves as the anime... I plan to add a lot more to the
video from the game... but yikes... I am not sure whether I am making
a dance video or just trash. :P
I still have some fun effects I want to thrown in... but otherwise basic
beat sync is dominating the video. I have about 50 seconds done and thought
hey... might as well enter something into my journal! :P
I watch the preview and either... become very confused... or laugh at
the wackiness of Those who hunt Elves.
Also this song... is... uhm maybe not a dance song? Certain parts are
definitely... but it seems to spend a lot of time in the non category.
Oh well, experimenting and working past weirdness is fun.

Hi I am a newbie.
2002-10-05 18:36:04
:P
Thanks to some great guidance and patience from AbsoluteDestiny, I am
just a little bit closer to getting my videos looking their best.
(Thanks AD! Very much appreciated)
As an avid 29.97 freakazoid who ignored inverse telecine for almost 2
years... I feel like I am finally digging out of my grave. As for color
space etc... I feel bad that my videos end up being dull as opposed to
vivid due to my method(s) of editing... flask will never be used again...
and premiere... so mean with its rgb... why must I suffer the pain of
dull colors!? :(
I must admit I still don't get it all, but I am definitely breaking down
my stubborn editing method to try just about everything out. I tried avsing
in premiere... ugh I couldn't do it... too slow... so spoiled with avis!
I will continue to experiment and read read read before my next video. I
don't want to rush in and fall apart! :P
...that and my next video will likely be for the NES Project! :) :)
