I'm at the end...

...with watching the vid's from the other editors for ScoobsNet crowd favorite. I have given my 4 votes. I wish I had 5 or 6 votes. After that I read the other votes, many of them for vid's I voted too or I had to leave out because of the 4 votes limit. But one vote surprised me and made me happy, it was for mine. The crowds contest is different than the "official" not bound to the categories. So it was a competition amongst all 26 participants. That rises the worth of this vote. At this time not all participants have voted, and maybe not all will.
The US-company still hasn't answered my email regarding MovieXone.
For project "Secret" I only listened to one of my CD's, but nothing I can use. Of course, it was a nice day, and so I used the evening to ride my bike. ;) That's one, but not the only reason why there isn't much more progress with this project.

Doubts..

...on project "Secret". First is on the combination anime/music. To set an anime to it's own sound track doesn't seem very original. Despite it can work, and you can get through with it once, maybe twice. But if you do it more often it becomes repetitive and makes you look unimaginative. Since I've already made one, and have one in mind which I will do for sure, so this one would be the third (and, what is worse, released as second so degrading the one I'm planning). Now I'm checking my CD collection if I can find a comparable song. But it will be hard. The Noir sound track is great, especially the parts sung by Yuriko Kaida. And this is one of them.
Second, the whole concept behind it is in question. I've seen it used in that "Dedicated to [insert an infamous person]" vid, and I have to recover from that. Either I have to change my concept, but I have no idea how, or I must continue and be aware that the people say I got it from that vid, even if it's not true since I had that idea before the vid was released.
I have watched 2 vid's for ScoobsNet crowd favorite, only two to go to decide for my favorites. As I noted in an earlier entry, big differences in quality. One made me go "wow". And since I know a work from that creator from around a half year ago: "damn, has he improved". The second was "Eeek". Based on fansubs of different quality (or footage from other AMV?), so you the most of the time you had subtitles in different fonts, colors and sizes. Sometimes the DivX logo showed up, but it was a WMV, so it's from the source. It's entered in the same category like mine - comedy/fun - but somehow I missed that point. And it couldn't point with effects - I've noticed none. It rises of the the chances for my vid to make it in the next round - but it's no real challenge.
Regarding the editing program - no reply from the US-company 'til now. I'll give them some more days. But if I don't get an answer I have to check where I can get it elsewhere.

Life continues

"Noir - Episode#25" is now in the second round of ScoobsNet contest. It wasn't surprising at all and is no reason to feel happy. Four vids per category made it in the second round, and comedy had only 4 entries. So the next round will give more conclusions.
Today I've searched the web for informations on the recent version of MovieXone. I found something surprising. AIST sells the downloadable version for 39€. A boxed version is not available. At an US-website I found the boxed version for 12.99$. Regularly they sell to the US and Canada, but their FAQ tell that they deliver in some other contries too. You should only contact them before ordering to get the conditions. That's what I did.
I have decided to start a new AMV. This time I will give it a working name: "Secret". The idea to this I got while working on "Noir-Episode#25". I still have some older ideas, but some of them are that important to me that I want to improve as creator before I start them.

I have figured out something about MovieXone: Even version 4.5 has that user mask. But somehow they have hidden it. I think it has something to do with the registration number you get. Maybe I will buy the recent version, since I could check out that they have resolved the synch problems. That way I get some more effects and transitions an be able to upgrade to MovieDV if I need more.
Today I have watched some more of the vid's for ScoobsNet crowd favorite. There are strong differences between them, not only editing style, but quality too. For some of them I would be ashamed if I was the creator.
Something not AMV related what I'm proud of. My firends honored me at the biker party in front of the crowd. They made a special version of the party officials T-shirt with my name on it and the words on the back:"Wetterfest und Zuverlässig" (weatherproof and reliable).

Still struggling ...

...with MovieXone. The CD of the PC-mag has a program called Adorage, which can make a hughe variety of transitions between clips. It can work alone, what isn't helpfull in AMV making. But it can get integrated in a couple of editing programs via plug in, even in MovieXone. Unfortunatly only in version 4.5. :( So I have to figure out in which file the user mask is hidden, exchange that files and hope that it works.
Tomorrow I took a free day. I ride with my bike to my former hometown, to meet my old friends. There is a biker party, so I will have a lot of fun. Therefore this journal will stay empty the next days.
